Firefox crashes - No crash dump file

For some reason, I've had a few problems with Firefox recently. The latest is that each time I try to load it, it crashes straight away, occasionally letting me send an error report, others not.
It always comes up with an error that states:
Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts.
Unfortunately the crash reporter is unable to submit a crash report.
Details: The application did not leave a crash dump file.
I've tried restarting my computer in safe mode to see if it works then, but it is coming up with the same error.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, yet nothing has helped at all.
I've also got problems opening Chrome and Safari, and now Explorer seems to be the only browser that works on my computer.
I've downloaded malwarebytes by recommendation from a family member, yet that isn't finding any viruses/malware on my computer. As that's what I initially thought it could be.
As I'm unable to open Firefox at all, I'm unable to obtain any previous crash ID's.
I do have the details that come up in the 'Details' box when Firefox says that it has crashed, but unsure whether that would help establish any sort of information to help with the issue.
I'm not that technically minded, so if someone could help me out with it, I'd really appreciate it.

Has anyone figured this out? I'm stuck using Opera and IE 9 and am having an extremely hard time developing my sites. Please help with this issue.

  • JRockit Crashes with empty dump file.

    ---Symptom:
JRockit creates an empty dump file and dies without fully starting
    Dump file looks like this:
         [user@computer some_dir]$ cat jrockit.25058.dump
         ===== BEGIN DUMP ===============================
         [user@computer some_dir]$
    ---Cause:
    ulimit -s 2048
This limits the stack size which apparently causes problems for JRockit.
This limit had been set to workaround a known issue in the Sun JVM.
    ---Workaround:
Use system default stack size or a size larger than 2048.
    ---Environment:
    Java:
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)

    Bandas,
The crash most likely happens because you have very little memory left on your system.
In the dump you can find the following message:
"C Heap : 3 memory allocations have failed"
This indicates that three malloc have failed internally. Given additional information in the dump it looks like an allocation did fail during garbage collection internally within the JVM that caused this crash. We have been working at improving the error message on these kinds of complete out of memory situations.
The best thing you can do is to reduce the java-heap size which will make more native memory available.
Another thing you can try if you haven't is to boot up windows in /3GB mode which will give JRockit access to the an additional 1GB of memory. (Your machine seem to have 3GB+ memory so booting Windows with the /3GB switch will allow JRockit to take advantage of that memory)
    I hope this helps

  • Firefox 17 randomly crashes and produces an unusable dump file

Firefox has been crashing on me several times a day. As you can see from the list of installed plugins I've been trying to switch on and off extensions without a great deal of joy, as the crashes are unpredictable - can be an hour or two or can be 5 minutes.
Moreover, when it crashes, it pretty consistently produces an unusable dump file:
    Here are the latest ones:
    <pre><nowiki>bp-354aec94-d7be-46e1-8f60-cf1832121230

    And they all say:
Firefox 17.0.1 Crash Report [@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump ]
This is a brand new install of firefox on a brand new pc but I've copied the profile from the old machine. And much as I'd enjoy recreating a profile from scratch, unless there's a way of dumping your saved passwords, it's going to be /very/ tedious.

  • Firefox crashes but the dump has been uploaded, how can I get the dump(Not the raw dump in bugzilla )?

I meet a problem that firefox happens to crash, but i can not get the dump because it has been uploaded?
Is there any way I can get the dump(Not the raw dump)?

This problem is not a pop-up. First of all the problem did not start until Yahoo changed their set up for ads in Yahoo Games.
Once it did start, the ads do not "pop-up", it is a vertical bar that is there all the time. You cannot get rid of it.
By the same token, it is not a Yahoo Problem since the problem does not exist using another server.
Yahoo says it has to do with some add-ons or plug-ins in Firefox that is causing the problem.
As you can see by the screen picture, one third of the game screen has a vertical ad area. I want to get rid of it.

  • Firefox crashes when I select FILE then OpenFile, and sometimes it lets me get to a file list, but when I select that it crashes

This has been an ongoing problem, and it does not occur with IE, Opera, Chrome, Browzar, Safari or Avant browsers.
If I click "File" and then "Open File" it will frequently crash. Sometimes I can navigate to an actual filename in a director, however clicking on that file to open it will crash it. The files can be text files, web pages or photos. It crashes equally among them, or any other file I try to open. There are approximately 65 forwarded messages created by my browser and sent each time this happens but I have never heard from anyone at Firefox about it.

Ooops. I haven't updated my sig in a while. I'm on 10.8.2 and it happens on a late 2008 Alu Macbook.

  • Ever since updating to version 6 of Firefox, the program crashes anytime I download a file. The format doesn't seem to matter, it happens with pdf's, JPEG's, Word documents, etc. How do I revert back to version 5 of Firefox?

Firefox 6.0.2 crashing whenever a file is downloaded.

There is a [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forums/contributors/707453?last=41751#post-41734 particular] Tojan that crashes Firefox 6 but not earlier versions; however that Trojan does affect other browsers besides Firefox. If such a trojan is affecting you, there may previously have been problems with searches. Downgrading in those circumstances will not assist you as security issues would remain with an alternative browser. You will need to do a full security scan of your system with up-to-date software. (Please give name and version of software used if you do a scan - I believe MS provide free software for this purpose for recent Windows OS).
Currently the commonest specific cause of Crashes (and again this is known to affect Firefox 3.6 also) is due to a component of ''idvault''. If you have idvault installed, possibly as part of Comcast Constant Guard then that is likely to be the cause of the crashes. Try disabling or even uninstalling thes to see if the problem is solved. Note the software developer involveed is WhiteSky, and they are aware of the issue and working on a fix. (a bug has been filed).

  • When trying to attach a document, a dump file is created and SBO crashes.

    Good day all,
When a user try to attach a document, using the Browse Button, SBO crashes and creates a dump file. The same happens when "manager" tries to attach a file from that PC. From other PC's there is no problem. We can access the attachments folder from that PC. The path also points through the server, (through the network), and not to C drive.
Does somebody maybe have a solution? SAP 2007A SP01 PL05.
    Kind regards

    Hi Carin ,
Have you assinged the proper path to the Attachment Folder in the " Path Tab "
of  Administration --> System Initialization  --> General Settings .
If the path is assinged to some network place and not working .
Then once try to assing some local machine path and then try the same ..
If the problem solve with local path  .. then there may be some problem with the network .
    Hope it Helps
    Thanks
    Ashish

  • Firefox crashes when downloading huge files

When downloading huge files like a 4GB DVD image of linux, firefox starts to build up memory usage. After downloading 3GB it takes around 4GB of memory and then crashes since it can't possibly grow any larger. WHY is it doing this? In earlier versions of firefox it created a .part file and stored all data in there. But right now it stores the WHOLE download in memory and then saves it directly to the file. No .part files on the drive.

I installed an apache webserver for faster local downloading and put a 4GB DVD up.
First try on Windows7: After 500MB of downloading it stops with a memory load of 1.6GB then it suddenly tells me the download is finished - at 500MB of 4GB. No crash this time but still not the desired result.
Try on Windows Vista: After 1.5GB of downloading and 1.7GB of memory usage and then the CPU activity jumped to 100% on the core where Firefox executes. Took around 5min then CPU goes down to 2% and it tells me the download finished and starts a virus scan. No crash either. Downloaded only 1.6GB of 4GB
Maybe it didn't crash this time because the download is too fast. Earlier while downloading from internet it always crashed while downloading debian DVD image. Later I used Internet Explorer to complete the download. I'll install a bandwidth control in my apache and try again over a longer period of time.

  • Help with jrockit crashes (dump files) at MemSystem.getMoreTLAMemory

    Hello,
We've recently started experiencing a lot of instability in one of our new deployments, generating core dumps as listed below.
The server in question is running jboss 3.2.2 with jrockit 1.4.2_03, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 3 (Taroon Update 3), with SQL Server 2000.
The dump file is listed below (I've actually listed 2). Any help or suggestions for research would be greatly appreciated. This is in our production environment, so I'm anxious for input. Thank you!

We will try these in test...
Initially we were experiencing JVM hangs (where the JBoss process simply stopped responding) on one of our production servers with 142_05, but no core dumps were ever produced. So we moved the application to a different server that has been running some other deployments without problems (different versions of our codebase and use cases however) to rule out hardware/external configuration issues.
On this server, we did get core dumps.
So, we're not sure if they are dying for unrelated reasons (seems unlikely) or if the _05 just did not generate core dumps properly???
    take care!

The best working solution at this time is to download and install Skype 6.14 and disable updates.  If you still get prompts to upgrade you can ignore them and the program should continue to function as it has not been retired as of yet.  Hopefully there will be a resolution in a future Skype update or an updated driver from HP that might resolve the issue.

  • WMP 12 crashes every time when it starts playing -dump file

    Hi There
I have already tried the following:
    1. uninstall and reinstall
    2. downgrade to WMP 11
    3. Run sfc /scannow
Attached is WMP dump files :

    Thanks
    --Giora

    Hi,
I Want to confirm did you encounter any error when run SFC?
When did the issue occur? If the WMP works before, we can perform system restore to the point when everything works fine.
Start>type System Restore in the search box>click
System Restore>Follow the steps in the wizard to choose a restore point and restore your computer.
If it not work, try replace the wmp.dll in the Windows/system32 with a computer which run WMP fine.
If you have a Windows 7 install CD, just copy the wmp.dll in the disk.
If the issue still persists, you may have to perform an In-place upgrade.
How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • LR 2.4 crashing on 500d cr2 files - CameraRaw!CTJPEGRotateImage

LR 2.4 is consistently crashing while viewing cr2 files from a Canon 500d / T1i.  I've just recently started using LR, but unfortunately it crashes so frequently (within a minute or two) that I haven't made it much past just importing my photos and starting to add keywords and delete rejects.  I'm curious if anyone else is running into this type of issue.  At this point my only real option is to give up on LR (just use DPP and then PS CS4) or perhaps try it on another PC in hopes that there's some incompatibility/problem on this specific box. . .  I hate to do this as we have LR licenses at work already plus I'd love to purchase it for home use as well. . .
    Environment:
    Windows XP x64 SP2
    LR DB on local NTFS
CR2 files on mapped network drive.
See Dr. Watson below for more. . .
    Steps to reproduce:
Do a couple of the following actions (all in the Library module):
Select imags and add keywords in grid view
Zoom in and out on a couple of images
Switch folders and repeat the first couple of steps
Usually I get crashes by doing this within a minute or two and by manipulating about 20-50 files (so very quickly).

Just for reference, my LR database is on my local disk, not on my network drive.  I have no issues using this network share with any other programs (such as DPP or Explorer).
I have all of the latest updates available from MS update, including the latest video driver from their site for my Nvidia 7900GS.  I'll check the Nvidia site and see if there are any other (newer) drivers available directly from them.
It has been a long while since I've done anything with RAW files, so this is really in all practicality my first experience and definitely so on this PC (I had a Canon G1, so yeah, a *long* time;->).  I probably have some older G1 raw files around I could try working with as well if messing with the video drivers doesn't make any difference.
I'll make some adjustments and get back to folks with results, thanks for the suggestions so far!
