Firefox crashes often

Having updated to Firefox 10, we're getting frequent crashes. Seems to happen more on javascript-heavy and/or https sites. Having logged in tabs on gmail and facebook causes a crash every time.
Also happens in safe mode. Crash reporter does not appear.

I initially posted the about:support info from my usual profile rather than a clean profile. So, here's about:support from a clean profile:

  • On Mac OS - I'm debuggig a huge web application. Firefox crashes often flushes 10 MB image cache every time. How to restart with "filled" cache?

    - Mac OS
    - I'm debuggig a huge web application on https. When it starts, it downloads 10MB images.
    - Firefox crashes often during debugging.
    - Every time, it flushes the images frow the cache and downloads the 10MB again.
    - I often work from different places and sometimes have rather slow internet connections so then this is really annoying for me
    - Having a possibility to start Firefox in "Cache-Safe" mode for debugging would be perfect - when it crashes then, the cache should not be flushed completely but restored to the o.k. situation before entering the mode
    - Any advice?

Please update to Firefox 25 before continuing, do you still have an issue there?

  • Massive stability issues. Firefox crashes often.

Ever since Firefox updated to the latest version, I've been having massive stability issues. I downgraded back to version 19, but it is still very unstable. I have to force-quit often when it becomes unresponsive - a dozen times a day or more.
    Things I have tried:
    - Updating all plugins.
    - Scrubbing my registry.
    - Clean install/reinstall.
    - Deleting tracking cookies.
    - Scanning for viruses and spyware.
    - Downgrading to previous version.
I want to continue using Firefox, but this has gotten unbearable.

  • Firefox crashes often, report example inside

Hi, firefox has been crashing a lot for the past few weeks and I've tried just about everything.
I've tried running it in firefox safe mode, I've tried reinstalling, I've tried Malwarebytes, superantispyware, AVG, Housecall, TDSS Killer (malware bytes found two trojan agents, but that didn't resolve the problem) I've tried doing virus scans in safe mode, I've even reset my whole machine to factory settings.

Here's the latest report. Any ideas? I'm guessing from the lengths I've gone to with antiviruses that isn't the problem...

You could try to modify the connection settings.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy".

  • MAC 10.8 - Firefox Crashes Often

I have completely removed Firefox 17.0.1, deleted my profile (firefox), reset firefox using the troubleshooting menu. But the issue continues, it is random and cannot find a certain task that causes the issue. Currently i also cannot access the preferences menu as this will cause firefox to crash. Been dealing with this for sometime and finally giving up. Only thing that I was trying to change was the home page.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Firefox crashing, even when doing a crash report

Firefox crashes often for me, so I came on to these forums for advice. When trying to do the about:crashes command, it crashes there too, so I'm not really sure of the next step!

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Firefox crash, Signature hang |

    Hello,
I am currently fixing up a computer for someone. Among their complaints was that firefox crashed often, so I am going through the crash reports to find the culprit.

    And?
I would recommend you try running Firefox Safe Mode as a starter, You could particularly try disabling Hardware Acceleration - Options>Advanced>General> Browsing> uncheck "Use Hardware Acceleration..."
    Make sure Plug-ins are up-to-date(your Flash isn't),
Try disabling any third party toolbars.
After that you might try a new profile and an uninstall/re-install. Don't remove preferences.
Some people are going back to Fx3.6. I wouldn't. you would find it difficult to catch up and support will stop before long.

  • Norton reports high memory usage with firefox and it crashes often

Norton antivirus 2011 has pop up warnings reporting high memory usage from Firefox. I have been getting theem often and my computer is crashing often after those pop up warnings. Thanks

    Safe mode did not help.
I have disabled ALL extensions and plug-ins, but the problem with "zig-zag" memory usage still remains (I've not tried to leave browser open for the night yet).
I think I'll do clean reinstall with completely new empty profile (without sync'ed information) to try this out. If this works, I'll start adding stuff (configuration, sync, features, etc) to see what causes the problem.

  • Bug Report: Flash Player 13 crashes Firefox 28 often

Crashing scenarios: Youtube videos ending, and opening a new tab simultaneously. That happened while palying a playlist on autoplay, and when playing a video not part of a playlist. Also, listening to Pandora and opening a new tab.
Visual experience of the crash: With the YT crashes, Firefox freezes and never becomes responsive. For the Pandora crash, the whole browser just shuts down and gives me a prompt to report the crash.
How I know it's FP13: I just installed in not even an hour before the first crash. Experiencing 4 crashes within 30 hours, after going 4 weeks without a crash? Very interesting stuff, isn't it.
I could not find a formal way to report a bug, so here is this.
Also, make it easier to downgrade. It's a pain having to get a 140 MB installer package to run one installer that I need, uninstall the new FP, then disconnect from the internet so you don't tell me that I'm trying to install an old version and not giving me the option to continue. If you're not going to test your software extensively to make sure it doesn't crash often, don't force people onto it.
    Running 32-bit Vista.
Searching around, I see that you are going to drop support for 11.7 (what happened to 12? I could not find an installer for that anywhere) on May 13th. You should delay this or actually make FP13 stable.
    Yours truly,
      Exaskryz

Pandora has, and causes, a lot of problems if your audio and video drivers are outdated or corrupted. Also, if you have RealTek® audio, you're never going to get Pandora to "play nice" with it. Flash Player has nothing to do with either of those.
You can find 11.7 here: Flash Player 11.7.700.279 but I have Vista Ultimate (64bit) with Flash Player 14 (beta), and I can run YouTube videos, post here and in the Apple Forums, as well as checking out a few News sites, all at once... and no crashes with FF 29.

  • Firefox crashes too often

    Hello,
I'm having a very difficult time with Firefox, it crashes every few minutes, this is just impossible to work...
My computer is perfectly fine, I've run memtest for 4 passes with no errors, Firefox is the only software crashing.
    What should I do?
    Thanks for your help.

    Me 2.
Firefox keeps crashing often without doing anything special.
Sometimes I have one only page open and I am not actively surfing when it crashes. And it definitely starts with 3.6.13.

  • Crashing often when firefox loads a page, ID: TppNBQUnreserveNode

Firefox seems to crash often when loading web pages...If anyone could provide help, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks!

To stop F/fox 3.6.12 loading pages twice, disable Adblock+ and Adblock + uploader in Add-ons. Worked for me.

  • Mac Mini 2011 crashing often while using Chrome and Firefox

I have a Mac Mini 2011. OS is Yosemite 10.10. Processor 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i5. 8GM RAM 1333 MHz DDR3. It crashes often especially while using Firefox or Chrome. Basically it just hangs showing the beach ball. Then we have to turn it off and on.
How should I debug the problem?
Note: Although recently I upgraded RAM from 4 to 8 GB, the crashes were happening before that activity.
    Rahul

When it next crashes note the time. Then reboot and open the Console app (in Utilities folder). Look for suspicious log entries at the time of the problem and post them here

  • Firefox for Android crashes often for me, I believe its because my tablet has a low amount of RAM.

I have a low-end tablet that (despite having 8GB of storage), only has 512MB of memory/RAM. I've already encountered a few games that won't run because of this limitation. Up until now, it was things I could live without. But I get frequent Firefox crashes and I believe it may be due to this same issue...insufficient memory. When Firefox crashes, I notice I have very little free RAM. I've gotten into the habit of force closing everything before I use Firefox, but this doesn't guarantee Firefox won't still crash. And by crash, I mean the application just spontaneously quits and drops me back at the home screen. I used to use AdBlock Plus, but I removed it to reduce Firefox's memory footprint size. I was wondering if anyone had any other tips or tricks to either reduce the amount of memory Firefox is using or to free up more memory on my system. In case it matters, my tablet is a Digiland DL701Q which runs 4.4.
