Firefox crashes on multiple websites, forcing a hard restart (battery removal) of my Nexus S.

Firefox, even before 4.0, crashes hard on my Nexus S. Most recently it crashes on filmcow.com. I was browsing the web pages, hit back twice, and it froze. The other time I was browsing facebook. I was testing how firefox would compare to chrome in the android device when playing facebook games, and it failed miserably, since it froze while loading. Both times forced me to remove the battery from my phone to get it to turn off.

This seems to be caused by a bug in Android 2.3.2 and earlier, which is fixed in the Android 2.3.3 update. For details, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643878

  • Firefox crashes on certain websites.

Recently, I had a malware/virus attack on my computer from XP Anti-Spyware. There were many pop-ups from XP Anti-Spyware. Then later I lost connectivity to the internet. I used Norton Security Scan to get rid of the malwares and viruses. After using the scan, my Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Internet did not work. At first the pages wouldn't even load. Then we contacted a Norton Security, who tried to remotely go through my computer to try to fix the problem. The technician rebooted my computer, reseted my internet, and also tried to reinstall Mozilla (safe mode) and Internet Explore. Well we were able to get both internets up and running. Only problem is that Mozilla crashes will work for a minute and crash or when on a certain website it will crash suddenly. I'm able to get on Facebook without it crashing. But websites like Yahoo, or when I search on Google, the internet crashes. I was not able to get on my email through Mozilla, instead I had to go through Google Chrome. Can you please help me please. Also, I removed Norton Security System, to have more mobility online. Thanks.

  • Firefox crashes and all website pages loose their formatting and pictures, and links are broken

I’m currently running Firefox 18.0.1 on a 13” 2011 MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8GB or RAM that is running OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. I have been living with this problem for over a year and this same computer has had this problem while running OS X 10.7 and I think even 10.6. The problem also existed with earlier versions of Firefox including versions 17, 16, and possibly 15, it’s been so long I can’t remember.
The problem is that Firefox crashes (or something within Firefox crashes) and the screen “goes white” and by that I mean all the graphics and layout of a page like YouTube disappears and even though the links are there, none of them work. The page is just made up of text and broken links. Reloading the page does nothing so I have to close Firefox and restart it. (No reboot) On relaunch everything is back to normal and may last a few minutes, or it may crash again right away. Generally if I launch Firefox and use it and then go use some other programs, when I come back to Firefox it will then crash. Is this a Java problem? Is this a javascript problem? I really don’t know what it is but it has persisted through several operating systems and different versions of Firefox running on different operating systems. I’m stumped and can’t find anyone who’s ever seen this problem. Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated.
I should add that this problem is present on ALL webpages, not just one or a few. Safari works fine on the same machine and visiting the same websites. I have screen caps of the crashed pages but I don't know how to post them here.

  • Firefox crashes if multiple tabs or windows are open.

Since I updated to Firefox 29 I have got the following problem: if I have a longer session and I open more and more tabs and windows (e.g. 30 tabs in 2 windows, so not that much...), Firefox crashes. I haven't had that problem before. So I also reset my whole profile and started with a clean one, but the problem is still the same.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hey cor-el,
first of all thank you very much for your reply. I did all the steps you listed and I also went through the support sites. Actually, disabling the protected mode in Flash resulted in a slight performance improvement (at least I think it did). But unfortunately, the crashes still occur.
Just a few minutes ago I had a very typical crash. ID: bp-70ad21db-8de1-43b9-892c-246a02140523
I figured out some details: there are some sites that make it more likely that a crash will occur. E.g. one of these websites is www.chip.de
Memory usage can go up to 1300MB, CPU about 50%.
The website then usually turn black (see pic 1). If I go over some elements with the mouse, some of them might turn visible again (see pic 2). I tried to reproduce this (by opening some sites of chip.de) and made to screenshots.
Perhaps this helps to identify the problem.
It would be really great if you had any other advice for me.
    Best
    Moritz

  • Firefox freezes and must be force quit and restart over and over

Generally firefox freezes after a while when I am using it and I must either close the window or force quit firefox. Also firefox is moving much slower than it did. How might the program be fixed because I really like firefox?

  • Whenever IE tries to open, Firefox crashes, and cannot be reopened unti I restart the entire system.

Whenever I click on something that brings up IE (not the default!), Firefox crashes, and when I try to reopen it, a screen comes up that is supposed to let me reopen it, but it won't. I have to reboot the system in order to bring up Firefox again. Is there some trick to restarting Firefox after this crash?

Go to the address '''about:crashes''' and tell us your latest crash IDs. We can then look at the data specific to your crash and have a better idea of what is causing the problem.

  • Force quits - hard restarts questions

I'm running 10.4.11 on my powerbook G4 1.5 I have an audio recording software app which uses alot of cpu. With a gig of ram I just get by but sometimes the processor can't handle the task and I get the dreaded beachball. I wait a decent amount of time then go to use the soft force quit esc/opt/control. Once I do that my menu on the top turns blue and I loose all my desktop icons while the app is still showing it's open in the dock. I repeat soft force quit but my only choice at that point is to hit and hold down the restart button and do a hard restart. Problem with that is sometimes it takes as long as 10 minutes to get past the white apple screen and then finally it boots up so I can start again. Is there a better way to deal with this issue when it happens? I need a G5 dual with at lease 4 gigs of memory for what I do but till I can do that I gotta deal with what I got, any help??
    rdmtl

I've got the 1.67 PB, and run Digital Performer...and, yes, it has a hard time keeping up with things at times. DP has an overload feature, and when it hits the wall, a message will appear and indicate that the audio out will be shut off.
So...I never really get the beach ball spin.
If you wait, will the the ball eventually stop spinning? If so, it might be best to wait for it, rather than wait the 10 minutes for a restart.
Generally speaking, it's not the greatest thing to power off without shutting down properly. Certain details of the system can be affected, which could be a cumulative thing...meaning, eventually cause file system errors and require drastic measures to fix.
You might try to run Disk First Aid occasionally to keep ahead of those problems.

  • Flash player crashes on multiple websites on all browsers

I was viewing www.liveleak.com watching many videos perfectly fine. I left to take a break for awhile and now any time i attempt to watch a video it will crash. The whole page will load up except the flash player. As soon as it attempts to load up the flash player whichever browser i am using will crash. No video on www.liveleak.com will load for me. Its the same with some other websites (youtube works fine for some reason) Ive tried everything to fix it. Ive tried
    - Re-installing flash
    - Trying multiple internet browsers
    - Going into the flash settings_manager and adjusting multiple settings
The only way ive fixed this problem (i had it in the past) was to format my harddrive + re-install windows. I dont wana do this again!!!
Any ideas what is going wrong?

I am back from my break (admittedly, it was a short break), but I can still view videos on liveleak.com; try a complete uninstall as follows
    download the FP uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 (save to disk);
    download the offline installers
    for Internet Explorer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe (save to disk);
    for all other browsers http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe (save to disk);
close all browser windows, run the downloaded uninstaller, followed by the appropriate installer(s).
    Does it work again now?

  • Safari and Firefox crashing on certain websites

I'm having a new problem with my eMac. When I try to access some websites (a banking website; Playhouse Disney website) both Safari & Firefox browsers crash. This is not happening with my MacBook. I've tried running Disk Repair and installing Applejack but nothing changed. I then went into Safari<preferences<security<web content and unchecked the java related boxes. After doing this, the banking website is allowing me access again but both browsers are still crashing on the PlayhouseDisney website. Is this some sort of java conflict? How can I resolve this?
Please speak slowly and use small words, I was only able to do the above things by reading these boards!

M - I'm having a problem getting kicked out of Safari on my banking website. I spoke to AppleCare this AM - they said there's no fix for 10.3.9, and I either need to use Internet Explorer, or upgrade to 10.4.

  • Firefox crashes/closes on websites with flash

This started yesterday when I was prompted to download and install the 3.6.7 update for Firefox. After restarting the browser, I get a message that it was not installed correctly, and then it closes without warning. It does not give the usual message that there is a problem and Firefox needs to close.
After experimenting, I've noticed that this only seems to happen when trying to load websites that include Flash content. Gmail and Youtube cause it to crash immediately. Other websites, like Facebook and certain forums will load initially, but will crash on certain pages, where there is probably a flash video or other application.
I tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode, but I still get these crashes. When I go to about:crashes, I get no reports of the recent crashes.
I still can't update Firefox to latest version, so I still have 3.6.6. Every time I try, the installation fails. I do have the latest version of Flash.
I believe I've tried everything suggested in the Knowledgebase, so if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Open up computer case, unplug and take out the processor fan cooler and wipe out all the dust, speccially in the heatsink, with a soft little brush and compressed air spray (also check power supply fan). I discovered this solution after weeks of trying all software related recommended steps and nothing worked, adobe flash player was still crashing in firefox, chrome and opera even after completely uninstalling flash and installing latest version 10.2.152.26 of the plugin. I realized this was the problem when pc started to crash unexepectedly when not playing flash videos. So, EUREKA, that did the trick for me. Hope it does for you.

  • FireFox crashes on multiple sites, when 1st opened, also has over 4 or 5 different FireFixes in the Task Manager running how do we fix this?

My PC, my wifes, dads, moms and kids PC all do this since the 14 update. I have updated ALL add-ons even removed some, also updated Flash and other programs, it will do this every time I open FF. Or if it does not crash rite away it will show 5+ of them open in Task Manager. It does this on multiple sites, I even reset FF 2 or 3 times, tried different start pages from Google, to Yahoo, to MSN even private sites I frequent it does not matter what I do it constantly crashes, can someone please fix this or figure out why tons of people are having this problem. This is very upsetting already upset about this darn idea of putting in FaceBook and crap like that integrated into FF that is a stupid move on its own seems more of a sell out I would expect that from IE but not from FF whom we have trusted for years.

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

  • Safari and firefox crash on certian websites

Hi recently Safari and Firefox have started crashing when I navagate to certian websites. Other web sites are fine. Sites that crash the programs include www.wired.com, google video, but not apple QuickTime trailers. Recently I updated Skype to 1.4.0.49, also I installed Firefox. I have tried deleting both of these programs with no noticable effect. The problem occurs with all users, I have deleted the Icons folder, run disk warrior, and reset Safari. Any ideas? I'm going crazy because I can't view Wired news. Thank you.

Hi thanks for your quick reply. I have the crash log here and I will list some common sites that crash the programs.
