Firefox crashes on opening. Tried fixing in safemode. Crash report comes on screen. I fill in message that I need help. No one answers! It says someone will fix the problem. I have tried to get a fix for 2 weeks. Does anyone read the messages?
Internet Explorer is the worst! But I have no choice without Firefox working.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

If you have submitted Breakpad crash reports then post the IDs of one or more Breakpad crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page. You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

Recently I updated to Maverick -- I also updated Numbers, Pages and Keynote. NOW, I cannot open my pages documents. I get a message that I need a newer version of Pages. I have the newest version (5.2). How do I get around this to view my documents?
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

I installed iTunes 10.2.2. When I tried to open it, I got the message that iTunes needs to install Rosetta to open. It then appeared to download and and install Rosetta. When I try to open iTunes, the icon bounces but iTunes does not open. The icon has also changed from the usual iTunes icon. What do I do now?
I have a 2010 MBP15 which I do not use as much as my pc. When I do, I check for updates and I believe I updated iTunes to 10.2.2 a week or so ago. Since I still use iTunes primarily on my pc, I didn't bother firing up the updated iTunes on the mac.
Last week, when I actually started iTunes on the mac, I got the message that Rosetta needed to be installed. Like abefighter I stalled. I surfed the net, read this thread to get some hints as to w** was going on.
When I checked the system profile in the mac, I think it showed PowerPC for 'kind.' Surfing the Internet I found out Rosetta was something needed to help applications work on PowerPCs. But wait, since this MBP is an Intel, why would or should it be asking me for some stone-age plug-in that was never mentioned in all the previous updates for iTunes until now? Fyi, the iTunes icon on the dock had changed to what I think is an AppleWorks icon.
So, I assumed that the update that resulted in my mac was corrupted. At first I scoured for 10.2.1, thinking that the last version was a dud, but in vain, nowhere to be found. I gave up and settled for a fresh 10.2.2. I did a casual delete, without touching any of the related personal preference files in my folder and it now which works fine. I'm glad I didn't jump to install Rosetta; I read elsewhere about someone who actually went through with the Rosetta install that resulted unhappily.
Unless the mac in question is a PowerPC, I would doubt the need for Rosetta installation. -
I keep getting the "a copy of firefox is already open" alert and it's not opened. I have researched it and nothing is working. I have a macbook pro version 10.9
Try restarting the computer. If the problem continues, post back with more information about the specific error. Creating a screenshot of the error and posting it here using [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?|these instructions]] might help (you could also use the Mac [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grab_%28software%29 Grab application] to create a screenshot in TIFF format, then resave it as a PNG to post here).

You need to download and install Camera Raw 6.7.1 for CS5. Once you have downloaded it, you need to install it while CS5 is closed.

firefox crashes on opening within seconds. this started suddenly a few weeks ago and despite several daily attempts, i still can't load firefox application. it crashes immediately upon startup every time no matter what and crash reporter arrives. i have researched all the articles and followed their suggestions. i installed the newest version of firefox and still get the same results. i can't even open firefox in safe mode.
You do not want to remove the program directory with a Mac because Firefox is most likely installed in the system Applications directory which is where the system applications are stored.
Have you tried removing the Firefox plist file from your user library? I have Mac OS 10.6.8 as well, and that file is at /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences. Close Firefox and remove that file, then start Firefox again. -

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. Firefox crashes when opening home page on google. after clicking restore get this is embarassing note if I click on restore once firefox toolbar comes up. Firefox crashes when opening "Extras>Add-ons" (German user interface - I don't know what the according menu points are labeled in English).
The crash seems to be so severe that no crash ID is created. On every restart after a crash Firefox 4 is in offline mode and has to be switched back to online mode. If needed I could provide a screenshot of the error message shown when firefox crashes.
There were no problems on this machine running firefox 3.xx. The problems occurred after upgrading from firefox 3.6x to firefox 4.Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5. It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches. I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow. Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

Thanks.IMHO the free apps are a band aid fix. If the OP uses Office on a regular basis he will need to upgrade anyway. Personally I have used neooffice and found it substandard however that was just my take. I haven't tried Google's solution.
We both forgot to mention the OP could also use Pages and Numbers to open their Word and Excel files. If he uses Entourage then Mail and iCal would be viable substitutes. -
Tried to open a file I created in Numbers a while ago, which I modified on 11/4/13, and got a message that I needed a newer version of Numbers. When I went to the Mac App Store it shows that the new version is already installed and there doesn't seem to be a way to reinstall it. When I checked "About Numbers" on my MacBook it shows "Numbers '09 version 2.3". Any suggestions as to how I can get the new version installed?
Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.
