Firefox crashes on opening with no message just the egg timer, which is still there after two hours!

Whenever I open Firefox, which has seven retained tabs, it won't load the tabs - it just displays an egg timer on all seven. I have left it for two hours, and still get the egg timer on all seven pages. I am not at all computer literate, so I thought the best option would be to uninstall and re-install Firefox, however I need to save my bookmarks. I know they are automatically backed up, but I fear that when I uninstall Firefox I will lose the backup filws. Can you please tell me how to either solve the problem without uninstalling firefox or tell me how to safeguard and retrieve my bookmarks after uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. I would add that this only started happening following a recent (few days ago) Firefox update.

As stated above. It then tries to send a Talkback incident but this fails. I have tried to download a new version of Firefox but this gives an error message saying the disc image failed to mount and can't be opened. I am running an Apple Mac OSX 10.3.9. I downloaded Firefox 4, have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X and firefox downloads, but opens with an X on the symbol and won't work, says architecture won't support - what is up?

Have tried 4 times to download Firefox 4 and each time it seems to be working OK, but when I go to move the firefox symbol onto the Application symbol, the firefox symbol has an X in an O indicating that it won't work and doesn't. How do you open multiple email messages at the same time on Mail?

Hi,
are there any preferences to control how emails are opened from Mail client.
Currently I can only open one emil at a time and can not toggle between messages or even toggle between the inbox view and a single message. This is very frustrating especially if you want to toggle across multiple messages.

Just figured it out - I can select multiple messages as you suggested when I am not in full screen mode.
So once I come out of full screen mode - then the multiple windows open.

I can open it in safe mode. But turning on any of extensions is causing firefox crash on open.
Actually is just doesn't open at all without any reports.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. You do not want to remove the program directory with a Mac because Firefox is most likely installed in the system Applications directory which is where the system applications are stored.
Have you tried removing the Firefox plist file from your user library? I have Mac OS 10.6.8 as well, and that file is at /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences. Close Firefox and remove that file, then start Firefox again.

Firefox crashes when opening after upgrading to 6.0.2

After upgrading firefox to 6.0.2 firefox crashes upon opening. When I try to open firefox the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" opens up. I tried all the sugestions on the support page. None of these worked. It will open with the computer in safe mode. I can not find where to start firefox in safe mode after upgrading.
I can open it now after running firefox in compatibility mode for windows XP sp2. The problem with this is I have to accept permission everytime I open firefox. If I change user account control settings to not ask every time firefox crashes on opening again.

Open Pictures folder and move the files named lrcat-journal and lrcat.lock to Desktop.
Make sure that , they are not inside Pictures folder any more and try to open backup from Lighrtroom and check..
Any LRcat file with .lock extension , move it to Desktop.

I have Firefox 3.6.13 and this message just popped up tonight while trying to download and listen to the Audio or the Video download. This website has both an audio and video version of the program. I was able to fix the audio by removing Firefox and reinstalling it. The second message (below) keeps popping up when I try to download and view the video version of the same program. The site has both Audio and video and I can listen to the audio using Real Player but I still can’t watch the Video period. I get the Video message below? I do not have this problem using Opera 11.01

well today I was trying to watch a video that required me to get the quicktime plug in, and it too me to a page that was a quicktime install + itunes 7.blah blah blah instead of the other way around

Since the 3.6 update firefox crashes AFTER pdf's opening in webmail. I can see, work and download the pdf file, but as soon as i change or stop this action, firefox crashes immediatly. I was waiting for updates, asked my provider but still not solved.
It is hard to test yourselve since you need to log in to a webmail..

Ok, if a new profile profile has the same issue, it's an indicative that it's something outside Firefox that is causing this problem. This may be a plugin (they are installed outside the browser, and new profiles will have all installed plugins enabled), a virus, malware, a firewall/antivirus/security suite, or any other software outside Firefox. It's not a known issue, and I can't replicate it on my end, so you'll have to search for the cause yourself. Do be aware that Firefox's update may have broken something in how other software gets along with Firefox, and that may be the cause of the crashes. Malware too, so do clean your system.
To scan for malware, install, update and run these programs ''in this order''. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in their "free mode", but the features you'll miss are not really needed to find and remove the problem you have. Remember that ''not all programs detect the same malware''!

Firefox doesn't open with profile even after creating a profile through Profile Manager.

I created a profile of Firefox yesterday using Profile Manager. And placed it in a virtual encrypted drive created by TrueCrypt. But Firefox didn't open with the profile. Instead it opened in default setting that Firefox usually gets when newly installed. I tried to select the profile through Profile Manager and open Firefox but to no avail. Even tried placing the profile in the Profile folder in Firefox pathway in AppData. Still same thing. At last reset Firefox and the profile was deleted. Now I'm with newly default setting. Luckily I had saved my bookmarks from Bookmark Manager.
I just wanted to save a profile so that only I can only access my profile and any other person would just had to use default setting. Also to restore my settings in case I install a fresh Firefox or reset Firefox to solve a problem.
Please help me fulfill my wants as stated above and why did it not work yesterday with the Profile Manager?
