Firefox crashes on start up how do I get help when I can't even load it

Please can someone help me I am running Mozilla Firefox 7 but have been unable to even get to start it up. Every time I try I get a crash report box pop up but it doesn't tell me anything, it doesn't even have a crash ID. I can't even get it to load in safe mode and I can't even get the Firefox location bar up to submit anything about my crash so I am at a loss at what to try next. I have uninstalled then re-installed but to no avail, please can somebody help me !!?. If you need me to tell you anything else please don't hesitate to ask.

Since a few days we have a lot of crashes with [http://www.trusteer.com/product/trusteer-rapport Trusteer Rapport]. If you have this program, try to disable it and see if that stops the crashing.<br>
You can stop Rapport using Start Menu > Programs > Trusteer Rapport > Stop Rapport<br>
You can ask their helpdesk when an updated version of their product will be made available or, if you don't need this software, uninstall it.<br>
http://www.trusteer.com/support/en/report-problem<br>
If you do not have Rapport, then we need to have a crash report ID. When you send Mozilla a crash report it just puts it in a giant database. We have no way of looking it up without the Report ID. I have no idea what is wrong without looking up the crash report. Please get the Report ID of your latest crash report.<br>

I had somebody  work on my OS 10.9.2 to speed it up. He failed and now  Preview, Textedit, App Store, Mail (crashes) and Contacts  do not work anymore. I can still use Safari, Firefox, Word, Photoshop and iPhoto etc. How do I get the Apple programs fixed again?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • Firefox is using incorrect font, how do i fix it when i cant read even the dialog boxes

i cannot paste a screen shot here. firefox is is using small boxes instead of text, that may be ascii codes.

So Firefox worked normally before the malware cleanup? You might want to reinstall Firefox (without removing the current version) and see whether that corrects it.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download Firefox 5 from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
Close Firefox and run the installer. Does that fix it?
If not, you might need to create a new Firefox profile to work around some bad settings or corruption.
You can start the profile manager using the method described in this article: [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles].
After creating the new profile, if Firefox is working again, you can move key settings like bookmarks from your damaged profile to the new profile. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile Recovering important data from an old profile].
    Any luck?

Sorry, I forgot to mention holding down the Shift key when launching Firefox to try to start up in Safe Mode.
''If that isn't possible'' you can try pushing this change into Firefox by adding a line to the prefs.js file.
To access that file, you'll first need to open your profile folder.
In the address bar of a Windows Explorer window, or in the search box on the Start menu, or in the Run dialog, type or paste the following and press Enter:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Usually there's just one folder here, so double-click into that. If there are multiple folders, double-click into the most recently used one.
Next, look for a file named '''prefs.js''' (if you see a file named prefs with a type of JScript, that's the one -- you can stop Windows from hiding the .js extension by following the steps in this article: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions]).
You can edit prefs.js by right-clicking the file and choosing Edit, or Open in Notepad or a text editor of your choice. (It would be best to avoid using a word processor that might modify the plain-text nature of the file.) Paste the following line on its own line at the end and save your change:
    <code>user_pref("layers.d3d11.disable-warp", true);</code>
That should be in effect the next time you start Firefox.
    Any difference?

  • How do I get help when no updated browser can load a particular site,"can't find server,"

In recent weeks, possibly coinciding with updates in Firefox (running 3.6.10), Safari and iTunes, I have only received the prompt, "can't find server" when attempting to connect to the site below. Others can get it on their computers in other places, and my iPhone can access when on 3G, but our network here seems affected because all the computers [All macs, some laptops and some desktops, running on OS 10.5.8] here receive this message. I used to be able to go to this site, a radio station, and stream audio or download podcasts. My ISP ran a ping test to the site's server and said that went through, but the browsers don't seem to be able to make the transformation to anything I can read. What kind of a problem is this? Apple was no help either.

Well, it's very interesting that without my doing anything else, last Friday, kcrw.com mysteriously APPEARED when I went to it. This happened in Safari, too. It loads and I can stream the audio (with the Flash update). No explanation, really.
I had checked the protocols, but everything was default. It took all week for the change; so I can't believe that my tinkering (which was really only checking and doing nothing) was the cause of the reappearance.

  • How to update to Yosemite when I can't even purchase it?

So I just bought a MacBook pro from someone and I was trying to reinstall Mavericks. Found out I need Yosemite but I can't purchase it. Why?

Restart the computer and hold down the Command and R keys on startup. Go here  and follow the instructions for a clearer description. You may need to reinstall the OS X that the Mac came with first. I cannot tell you this without knowing the model or year of the Mac. If you have never purchased Mavericks yourself, then you can no longer purchase it.
So what year/model is the Mac?

Figuring out the cause of a crash can be difficult. If you've tried the steps above and can't get Firefox to stop crashing, the steps below will show you how to collect information about your crash so our volunteers can help you.
    1. In the Firefox Location bar, type about:crashes and hit Enter. A page listing submitted crash reports will appear. '''NO START so no Firefox Location bar'''
    2. Right-click on the latest crash under Report ID and choose Open Link in New Tab. '''NO START so NO Firefox Report ID and not possible to choose Open Link in New Tab'''.
A tab will open to a page on crash-stats.mozilla.com, saying that "Your report is being processed". When it is finished processing, your report will load. '''NO START so NO Firefox Report ID and NO report will load so dead end and no help or support possible'''

    Hi Max,
Congratulations, at least you made a stab at solving the problem. I think a lot of users used to glance at that KB article ([[firefox crashes]]) and give up trying!
Hopefully the crash instructions will be further modified soon, (some of us consider the following is an [/kb/Firefox%20crashes/discuss/1855 omission] that needs correcting) have a look at this article for an explanation of how to get the crash ID from your OS even without using firefox:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports
The XP OS is likely to use smoke and mirrors to make it look like you have a totally
separate installation of firefox for each account, but normally you have the one set of (most) program files, and then for firefox separate [[profiles]]. So this indicates the problem is likely to be in the profile of the problem account, or down to a plugin, malware or other issue relating to that account. <br/>(I note you have already scanned for malware with MSE, that should detect a particular trojan that is a top cause of firefox 6 crashes)
If you create a new clean profile in that account hopefully it will solve the crash problem, you can then address the issue of copying settings, bookmarks. passwords etc back. BUT before attempting that ensure that you disable all plugins, ([[safe mode]] does not disable plugins) if you have not already done so. Some plugins may not show up in Firefox's list, you may need to look at the OS program lists.
I note you mention banking, a particular utility ''IDvault'' (I think Comcast supply it) has been causing crashes. Are you using IDvault ? <br/> (IDvault should be fixed soon bug684748; version 1.0.627 may have been fixed, but standalone version 5.9.627 has not yet been fixed )

  • Firefox crashes at start up, even in safe mode

Firefox crashes on start up. Crashes in safe mode as well. Tried steps on articles. Was watching adobe flash player when it crashed first time.

Any other recent crash IDs (maybe some have links to bugs or other posts)
    Crash report: [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ba759d32-e684-4f6c-813b-679ce2111005 ba759d32-e684-4f6c-813b-679ce2111005] <br/>
    Crash signature: nsSecureBrowserUIImpl::OnLocationChange(nsIWebProgress*, nsIRequest*, nsIURI*)
That one does not seem to give any useful info at present.
Malware is one common cause of crashes, and that may produce variable crash reports, it is probably worth doing full scans with multiple tools/software to try to rule out the possibility of malware.
*See [[is my firefox problem a result of malware]]
Besides trying in safe mode did you also try disabling all plugins whilst in safe mode. (If it crashes before then, are you able to create a new profile and try that ? ) Also if crashing before about:crashes may be entered have you seen http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports

  • How deactivate Web premium CS4 when I can't get into my old computer (crashed)?

    Hi,
    At Adobe's website it says:
"What happens if my computer is stolen or damaged and cannot be repaired?
If your computer is stolen, damaged beyond repair or the hard drive is completely re-imaged, the activation will be lost. In either case you can install and start using the Adobe product on your new computer, which will automatically detect the problem if you already had two computers activated. The activation process will guide you through the new activation, even if the prior computer is no longer available."
My computer has crashed but Adobe has not detected this, so I can't install my program on my new computer. What do I do?
    Thank you for answering! :-)
    //Milda

    Hi!
There was no problem installing it on my new computor, but it says that i have to deactivate my earlier installation (within 30 days) since i have already installed it on two compters (i need to have the program on both my lap top and my stationary computer)

Google Toolbar Options, in the Search tab, make sure that '''Enable the Google new tab page''' is check-marked. If that doesn't fix it for you, see this for support information about the Google Toolbar. <br />
    [http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/?hl=en] <br />
Or visit the Google Toolbar forum. <br />

As far as your UserAgent showing Firefox 3.0.11, see this: <br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Websites+or+add-ons+incorrectly+report+incompatible+browser
You might want to consider getting rid of that '''desktopsmiley''' program that has messed up your UserAgent, it is known as Malware.

Thanks, Huntress, but it's not in More either. I'm talking about the genius button/atom icon that used to appear in the center/top part of the screen while a song plays in the music player, like in this image (I used to be able to tap the atom icon to create a genius playlist on my iphone):
Now, when I play a song, there is no atom icon/genius button like in the following image. I've already tried tapping where it used to be and it doesn't come back.

  • How do I get help reinstalling my Adobe creative suite 6 after IMAC IOS 10.8 crashed?

How do I get help reinstalling my Adobe creative suite 6 after IMAC IOS 10.8 crashed?  Apple had to reinstall operating system and all programs & data were lost.  Adobe System say serial number valid, but qualifying product can not be found on this computer.

When you're installing Adobe upgrades, there are two ways of doing it:
Have an existing, qualifying version already installed. Install the upgrade and enter your upgrade serial number. The installer will detect the earlier qualifying version already installed and the upgrade will finish installing. That is not your scenario.
The second option (and easiest on new computers with no Adobe software previously installed) is to simply install the latest version (usually an upgrade) and enter your upgrade serial number. That's what you've done so far.
The installer will look for an earlier version already installed on your computer. If it cannot find one, it will prompt you to enter the serial number from an earlier version. Once you enter the earlier qualifying version serial number, the upgrade installer will complete the installation. If you cannot find an earlier version serial number then the upgrade will not be licensed and will go into trial mode. From there you can use it for 30 days until it will no longer launch.
