Firefox crashes or slows in an unpredictable and inconsistent way so I am going back to the dreaded Internet Explorer a disappointed customer - at least thats just slow!
I don't have time for products which require my time to feedback to the company why their product does not work!
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Every time I right click on an image and select Download image Firefox crashes . I have reinstalled; uninstalled and deleted folders and then reinstalled; added no plugins; checked I can DL the same images in IE-works good.I use Win7 pro and it works in other profiles in Windows 7. I created a new profile in Windows and that worked for about 2 months and now that has gone the same way as my admin profile has done. I deleted the sqlite download file-still same prob..Please help. That sounds very frustrating.
By the way, does it say "Download image" or "Save Image As"? Just checking whether you have an add-on downloader in the mix that might be relevant. If you do have an add-on, try using the built-in command.
Do you also crash if you save from here:
right-click page > View Page Info > Media tab > (select image) > Save As

Have you tried the new Reset feature in Firefox 13? This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.

If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back if you like using Firefox's Profile Manager.

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 and it says to re-install the toolbar but I have not been successful in doing so. I went to the forums and tried all the suggested fixes but none worked. Can I go back to the older version? I had no trouble with that and I do not like this new version at all. I tried a system restore twice and it did not fix the problem.
I would imagine it's the MyWay Searchbar which is classified by most anti-malware scanners as adware, or even worse as spyware. I say that because I see "SmileyCentral" in your list of plugins and that's an add-on for that particular toolbar. You can disable that via Tools | Add-ons | Plugins.
There are a number of toolbars which won't work with Firefox 4 anymore due to the enhanced protection mechanisms in the browser.
Mozilla recommends that you only install add-ons from its own security site @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/?browse=featured Generally speaking, those have all been tested and approved. The exceptions are those currently under review which are marked with a yellow banner to warn users that they haven't passed Mozilla's labs yet. -

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. I recently had the genius bar change my imac hard drive because it crashed. For some reason Time Machine didn't back up some of my important files. Can I get my damaged hard drive back from the genius bar to see if I can access that info?
Unfortunately, that drive is long gone, probably back to the mfr. Drives are not returned when they are exchanged. You can go by and ask them, but the chances are slim to none.

Hello there, am new here and very stressed, i have an Imac core i3 which is logging off itself after a few seconds of login, it goes back to the login menu where i put the password. I have tried to repair the os but my pioneer rom is not reading the disk. I press the :c" button on startup but its not picking up the disk in the rom, i have tried to put the disk in an external rom but same answer, am starting to think that my os disk is bad. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
How do I stop Firefox going back to the site I just left, even when I cose window.
I use Firefox almost exclusively. Lately when I am done and I close the window or the site, Firefox goes back to the same site and I cannot
close it and get on with my next planned visit. I do not know what specificaly to adjust to stop this .

Also make sure that you close Firefox properly. Otherwise Firefox may try to restore the previous session.

When we go to view albums from our iphoto library on apple tv it takes forever to load and then it only plays between 24 and 35 photos then goes back to the start. Then it goes through again and displays 1 more photo each time. Please help!
It's likely that your Library database has been damaged in all the crashing.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

HELP. ............Hi folks hope some one can help me please.Having a problem in Bridge I open my images in ACR, as I open files in a folder and lets say they are labeled in yellow they are all going back to the camera raw default , in other words no matter what work I have done, inc cropping they all go back to ,as they came out of camera. I was having some problems with my mac, safari and itunes was freezing alot. I have to force shutdown and when I tried to start up again i get to the login page, type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue for a few seconds and it goes back to the log in screen. What should I do?

Put in the password, hit enter, the screen goes blue for half a second, then goes back to login screen and carries on logging in as usual. Drives me mad. It doesn't happen with a fresh Lion installation, nor if booted into safe mode. On the machine in question it also happens to new user accounts.
I've removed all login items, including Startup Items and Launch Demons (pun intended) and Agents, I've compared system login plists with a fresh Lion installation - can't see differences. I've removed Little Snitch and PeerGuardian (no more third party kexts).
@Carolyn: I've done disk maintenance with DiskUtility and fsck and even DiskWarrior, cleaned caches, etc. etc.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

to get your data off the machine,
then do a #20 to eliminate the bad sectors as that's why your getting the "pinwheel" it's getting a delay reading from the drive, right when your trying to log in too, what a bad spot for it to happen.
