Firefox crashes seemingly for no reason, no discernable pattern
I'll be browsing, and Firefox will shut down. It's usually when I click on something, but occasionally when I'm just looking at the screen. After the last crash, I reopened Firefox and all my tabs came back. This happens once a day, occasionally more. The sporadic frequency makes it hard to troubleshoot extensions.

I recently had the genius bar change my imac hard drive because it crashed. For some reason Time Machine didn't back up some of my important files. Can I get my damaged hard drive back from the genius bar to see if I can access that info?
Unfortunately, that drive is long gone, probably back to the mfr. Drives are not returned when they are exchanged. You can go by and ask them, but the chances are slim to none.

When I tried to respond to the urgent notice to update to Firefox 5.0 for security reasons I was stopped by a screen that said "Incompatible Add-ons Found" It identified two add-ons, Move Media Player 1.0.0.07103010 and Real Player Browser Record Plugin 14.0.3 that would be disabled. It said that "as soon as they are "made compatible" Firefox will update and re-enable these add-ons" It is not clear who is to make them compatile. I have no idea how to make them compatible and I don't even know what they are for. I don't want to lose any functionality as the result of an update, so what should I do?
Make sure that your IP address is not being shared. See the note at the top of this page.

Upgraded to Firefox 4, and have a number of tabs open, and for no reason a tab will clear the loaded page and default to a bing search page, when I check extensions and addons there is no sign of bing so havent a clue how it is doing this
I dont know whether this is related but since upgrading to version 4 everyso often the page will go into a loop if you are trying to refresh the page and the anticlockwise comfort bar will keep spinningProblem involving videos played from the YouTube site is much less noticeable after upgrading from FF 4.0b8 to 4.0b9, but still occurs with embedded YouTube videos, where blacking out of other portions of the window still happens.

Firefox automatically reloading for no reason
I have problem with FF4, for some reason it automatically and randomly reloads when tabs when I click (focus) on them - this is especially the problem on flash videos sites, because then the buffering starts from the beginning it's driving me crazy.
I have further looked for solutions.
I have tried holding the SHIFT key when clicking on the firefox shortcut.
I have tried holding the SHIFT key and right mouse clicking, selecting Run As Administrator.
Same result, nothing!. -
Firefox 35 crashes everyday for no reason on Mac OS 10.9.5
As the title says. One second I'm using it and the next it's gone, there no freezing, nothing special, it just quit and restarts, up to several times a day. It never did that since I started using it many years ago. It started happening not long after I updated from 10.8.5 to 10.9.5, or maybe after I updated to v35 shortly after.
Let me know if you need any information to solve this.

Firefox crashes and gives the reason as msvcr90.dll what should i do
firefox keeps crashing and the error report says its because of msvcr90.dll what to do to stop it from crashing. when i go to tools addons it crashes also. please help
msvcr90.dll crash error. Well I reinstalled the previous version of Firefox 6.0.2, that didn't do it, rolled back the flash to an earlier version cos it was crashing when flash seemed to load, that didn't fix it either Then I went to tools, add ons, then extensions and then I disabled AVG safe search and the problem is fixed - funny because that safe search has been working OK for some time though I do recall having problems with it a couple of years ago

Firefox crashes, seemingly at random...perhaps not.
Sometimes it's on startup, other times it's after a couple hours of use. Always restarts and works just fine.
There are many many crash reports. It seems to have been a bit better since un-installing and re-installing Firefox, but it's crashed twice today.
See the crash report from the latest one.
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/b25f7f08-7691-4a6f-b842-c11132150107Each crash report has a "signature" based on the component in use at the point that Firefox died. In this case, it's an Intel graphics driver file. Curiously, there have only been 5 reports logged with this signature during the past 2 weeks, so it seems like a new or rare issue. You may need to check for driver updates for your graphics chipset.
As an immediate workaround, you can disable Firefox from using hardware acceleration. If it's crashing in the Flash player, you also can disable the Flash plugin from using hardware acceleration.
* In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
* In Flash, see this support article from Adobe:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
Does that help? if not, please post several additional crash report IDs so we can try to get a fuller picture. -
When i'm opening firefox, it always freeze for about 1 minute, i'm not sure how it's happening, but i also run Winamp when opening firefox, when the firefox frozen, my entire desktop will also freeze, it sucks , i need to wait for 1 minutes
* Try this.
* Type in the address bar about:config.
* Accept the warning.
* In the page that appears, in the Filter box, type network.http.max-connections.
* Change the value to 32 (which is probably set to 256 in your case).
* Close the about:config page.
* Restart the browser. -
unfortunately my restore was off, so i was unable to restore to an earlier time when firefox 4 was working.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html -
all the bars at the top of the page have gone missing including the back button, everything...how can I restore them?
'''Menu Bar''' (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)
Press ALT V T M (CTRL V T M on Macs) on your keyboard. This should restore the menu bar (Firefox 3.6) You can also restore the menu bar by pressing Alt and going to View | Toolbars | Menu bar
'''Navigation Toolbar'''
Press Alt V T N (CTRL V T N on Macs) on your keyboard.
'''Other toolbars'''
View | Toolbars | Select the desired Toolbar
'''Other steps to try'''
Try restoring the default set by going to View | Toolbars | Customize | Restore Default Set. This will put the toolbars back in the default place. This would be a good idea if you are missing specific icons on the Navigation Toolbar
'''Safe Mode'''
You May need to reset toolbars and controls via [[Safe Mode]]
Make sure you completely close Firefox first. When you get to the Safe Mode window, select Reset toolbars and controls and then Make Changes and Restart.

Dock icon bounces for no reason (seemingly)
I have my iChat set up so that the dock icon bounces when someone logs in, but occasionally (somewhat often) is does one bounce seemingly for no reason. I've left the window visible so I can see if it's someone logging in and out really, really quick, but it's not that.
Any ideas?It also bounes if the chat window is not the front one and there is more sent by your Buddy (or Buddies in a chatroom/group chat).
It does not bounce if your Buddy changes their Status Message.
It will bounce if the Buddy list has lost the sort order and the new person coming on line is out of sight on a long list (Or in a closed off group tab)

Firefox crashing, even when doing a crash report
Firefox crashes often for me, so I came on to these forums for advice. When trying to do the about:crashes command, it crashes there too, so I'm not really sure of the next step!
Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
* [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
* [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you. -
I just purchased an HP laptop. It has Windows 8 installed on it. Ever since getting Firefox installed (with no add ons) I have been having problems. Firefox starts fine, loads fine, works fine. But then there are times when it will crash over and over again for no reason at all. Google.com is my homepage and sometimes it crashes on that.
I don't go to many pages, facebook is the main one and it crashes almost constantly now. This is the longest I've been online in 2 days.Hello katielawrence, We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
#Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.
Thanks in advance for your help!
