at odd times I will get a second instance of Firefox startup. I have run avast av, spybot, malwarebytes, both in normal and safe mode and nothing has been found, any ideas?

That second one sounds like malware.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

    I have Windows 7 32bit

    1. You have a pre-release Beta 1 version of what will become Firefox 4 in like 5 or 6 months. Unless you are intending to test it for flaws and report those flaws to help in the development process, don't use it.
    2. Did you create a new Profile for 4.0b1, and are you using that Profile with it? ''That isn't done automatically when you install 4.0b1, and those of us who have been doing the "testing" for many years consider a new Profile as the basis of doing out testing.''
IMO, Mozilla is making a huge mistake by directly offering these beta versions to the general public.
Also IMO. if you want to play with 4.0b1, use the Portable Firefox 4.0beta version to minimize any conflicts with a currently installed version of Firefox, and to eliminate the need for creating a new Profile for 4.0 Beta #:
Download Firefox Portable Test to your hard drive and double click the '''FirefoxPortableTest_4.0_Beta_#_English.paf.exe''' file. The entire installation (including a new Profile for "Portable") will be self-contained in the \Program Files\FirefoxPortableTest\ folder and won't interfere with an "official" version that you already have installed. Your Profile will be in the \Program Files\FirefoxPortableTest\Data\profile\ folder.
The "down side" is that Firefox Portable won't launch if any other version of Firefox is already running.

  • Firefox crashes upon start-up (non-safe mode)

Program has been crashing upon start-up since downloading the latest version. I was able to open in safe mode and now it appears that perhaps it is able to run in regular mode as well (non-safe mode).
I'm going to post this question form anyway, in the event that the problem recurs and I'm unable to reach this help section again.
The crashes started whenever I tried to open a browser window, from a bookmark. Malaware is clear, SuperAntiSpyware has found some adware tracking codes -- those will be cleared upon finish of scan

hello akhalaj, from the crash report you've submitted it seems like the crash is malware related. the malicious file on your pc causing the crash is named ''ebwlduva.dll'' (randomly generated filename).

  • Firefox will not start, will not open in safe mode, and still will not work after clean reinstall, Mac/OSX

One moment I was using Firefox the same as I always have. The only difference was that I changed the preferences to erase history when quitting Firefox. When trying to open the program again, it is immediately unresponsive. I attempted opening it in safe mode and a window will appear but never load, and Firefox remains unresponsive. I could not reset Firefox either. I deleted the application and re-downloaded Firefox, but it changed nothing. I am in OSX 10.7.4. Can anyone help?

Hello chillman4130, try to create a new profile(in case that you profile is corrupted), go (with closed firefox...... it is anyway) to /Applications/Utilities > Open the Terminal application > in the Terminal application, enter the following:
    * /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -p
    Press Return
the above opens Profile Manager, if the profile manager open then see : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles#w_creating-a-profile Creating a profile]
then see: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile Recovering important data from an old profile]

  • IMac G5 won't boot in normal and safe mode, but will from single-user mode

    Hello everyone,
I'm quite new here, so I try to do my best if you have a question.
Yesterday, someone nearby me had a iMac G5 (Powermac8,1), and he sayd, that the computer sometimes will boot, sometimes not.
I did test it, I thought it was running fine, but when I played some music in iTunes, it was stuck on 9 seconds, and crashed (with a kernel panic). The guy also sayd, that there was nothing important on the computer, so a clean install was fine.
Now, the problem is, that it will not boot in normal mode (without anything pressed on boot), also it won't in safe mode (shift-boot), but it will, when I enter single-user mode, mount the hard drive and exit from single-user mode so it will go futher on booting. Sometimes it will not, and immediately gives you a kernel panic in single-user mode, but it will 90 percent of the time.
Then you've got another problem: when it's running in the normal desktop from single-user mode, it'll be stuck after some time again. If I look into the Kernel Panic file created, most times it's because of Spotlight indexing, so I disabled that.
He also gave me the disks (Apple Hardware Test and Extra Applications, and iMac G5 Mac OS X Install Disks 1-3) that came with the Mac. He sayd that I could use them, but I think he didn't test out the SuperDrive, because when I insert a disk, it will try to read, but it will make 2 same sounds, and quits after 10 tries, when it will spit the cd out. Also normal (audio) disks.
Also, I must hurry with the commands for mounting and exiting in single-user mode, or it will just not boot.
In all cases, after 30-45 seconds from pressing the power button, the fan will start blowing at full speed, and it will stop after the exit command in Single-user mode. That's weird.
I can't do anything with the SuperDrive, I can't normally boot in Mac OS X except for Single-user mode (but I don't think he would like to do that every time the computer boots up), and I have very limited time when Mac OS X arrived on the desktop.
When booting in Verbose mode, it will be stuck on this:
    AppleSMU::PMU vers = 0x000d004c, SPU vers = 0x15, SDB vers = 0x01,
(and sometimes ends with a kernel crash by fsck_hfs)
Things I've tried (without any success):
    - /sbin/fsck -fy (in single-user mode)
    - Disabling Spotlight and mds
If you want some more information, feel free to ask!
    Greetings
    -MrYoranimo
PS: My main language is Dutch, so my English can be bad at some points.

Thank you for your support! This reply is a little bit late, because I was to the camping this weekend.
The only thing I sure do know, is that the iMac has a bad SuperDrive. That's one problem, but I don't really wanna use it, and you fix everything by Single-user mode and when I get to the desktop to test things and change stuff in the Preference Panes.
What also came to my mind was that there also is a problem with the videocard (driver), because sometimes when I boot into Single-user mode, I can see some white pixels which aren't supposed to be there. And when booting from SUM you can see that some of the colors are different and there are weird patterns on the screen.
I also tried to setup a NetBoot server on this computer (MacBook Mid 2010) with just Lion 10.7.4 on it, but I'm not that expert and I didn't really find the good posts on the Internet, although I tried it with the Server applications and both Server applications and DeployStudio. But I didn't succeed.
I don't really like buying a new FireWire hard disk or external FireWire dvd reader/writer, except if it has USB support, because my MacBook doesn't support FireWire, and I really wanna make use of it then.
If I know more or have fixed it, I will surely post again here with what I did to fix it (if no one else has posted here already ).

  • Firefox crashes several times a day even in safe mode

Every every day I get a few crashes with Firefox. The scenario is always the same. Attached screenshot. I keep switching Shockwave Flash v11.2.202.451 and the Cisco OpenH264 codec to “never activate” but on restart from the crash they are found to have reactivated. I tried safe mode, and refreshed, with no improvement. I think it is related to video uplaying, youtube etc, but can't pin it down.
My OS is Ubuntu 14.04, Firefox 36.0.1 for Ubuntu.

As for it being out of date, I am sure that while there is a version 16 for Windows, the last version that works for FF on Linux is mine.
Funnily enough i haven't had a single crash today, maybe due to todays Ubuntu update.

  • Blackberry 9860 stuck in normal and safe mode

after i boot my device,  the device stuck.. i did try boot using safe mode but the problem is still the same.. after a few seconds, it got stuck.. even when i touch the screen, nothing happened.. i cannot get into the desktop software also after i boot my phone.. i cant do anything with it.. what should i do?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below. (Moot in your situation, I fear...I hope you have a recent backup already.)
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
With that preparation done, please try the use of these tricks. However, if any suggest using an Update Website or any other method, substitute please the use of LOADER.EXE, which will be located at (or nearby) where you found (and deleted) one of the VENDOR.XML files:
