Firefox crashes upon started on start-up

Firefox crashes immediately upon start-up. It will not start in safe-mode. This is the message in the Crash Reporter that is displayed:
"Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts."
However, each time I try to restart it, I get the same message.
The last thing that I had done before the crashes, was to update the iTunes and install iCloud on my PC.

  • Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

Hello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. Whew! Sorry for the lengthy question/issue. Your help is greatly appreciated!! Carolyn Burnam

  • Firefox crashes upon opening, and randomly - Windows XP.

What I'm experiencing is that FireFox crashes upon most start-ups. it also crashes randomly. Be it known, it has been doing this in safemode, too. It has been doing this before any plugins were installed, and it has been doing it since FireFox 12 or FireFox 13.
Oddly enough, my folder for where the crash reports SHOULD go is completely empty.
    Current version: 22.0
What should I do from here?

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • My Firefox crashes upon start up, and the crash reporter opens instead

When I open my Firefox from desktop (windows vista), the firefox crash reporter opens instead giving me the options of restarting, or quiting firefox. The samething also happens when I start in safemode, or when I Reset firefox. The only way I can open firefox from desktop is if I open it as the administrator.
My latest crash IDs are as follows:

I would really appreciate if you could help me out with this, I simply hate all the other browsers and would hate to change to one of them.

hello akhalaj, from the crash report you've submitted it seems like the crash is malware related. the malicious file on your pc causing the crash is named ''ebwlduva.dll'' (randomly generated filename).
according to reports from other users it should be detected &removed by microsoft safety scanner and kaspersky security scan. please run a scan with these products:

  • Firefox crashes upon start-up (non-safe mode)

Program has been crashing upon start-up since downloading the latest version. I was able to open in safe mode and now it appears that perhaps it is able to run in regular mode as well (non-safe mode).
I'm going to post this question form anyway, in the event that the problem recurs and I'm unable to reach this help section again.
The crashes started whenever I tried to open a browser window, from a bookmark. Malaware is clear, SuperAntiSpyware has found some adware tracking codes -- those will be cleared upon finish of scan

  • Firefox crashes upon opening, despite having tried all help suggestions and re-installing new version.

I have a MAC: 2006, but intel Core Duo; version 10.4.11
I have had some difficulties with my Firefox recently: crashing occasionally, not always loading a page on the first try, saved e-mails or passwords working off and on. I trashed my current version of Firefox (I was told by my tech guys to uninstall it and download a new version, but I couldn't find an uninstall package for mozilla, so I dragged it to the Trash) and I uninstalled flip4MAC, too. I tried to download version 4, but my system could not run it, so I downloaded 3. 16. 12 - it worked really great for a while, but then started to revert to its old problems and my tech guys said I might not have done a complete uninstall- I am a bit of a techno-peasant, so I may have not done it properly. In the meantime, I upgraded my Internet service with Bell and was going to download Snow Leopard- I have Tiger- to see if that helped, but after the upgrade, Mozilla won't even open at all; the window comes up with a tab that says "restore session" and it freezes immediately and then closes with a crash report and an icon in the apps bar called "Crash Reporter." I have copied the incident report and am including it with this email. Bell tech support says it is not their issue, it's mine, which I think is probably correct, but why did it completely crash after the upgrade?
I did go on Mozilla Firefox's website for support through Safari, and tried all the suggestions, but Safari's Mozilla Firefox only displays the search bar and not the address bar, so I used the tip to got ''library/,'' etc to get the crash i.d. I was able to get the i.d., but when I typed in the url with my crash id, I got an error message: File not Found. I tried it more than once, so I copied it from one of the reports sent to you guys and I only hope that you are able to use the crash info I submitted below (after Trouble shooting info).

  • Firefox crashes upon startup

Starting today, every time I try to open Firefox it crashes immediately. I have uninstalled and removed the entire Firefox folder several times. Firefox is able to load in safe mode, but if I have to browse in safe mode I might as well use Google Chrome because it still works and can have addons. The only thing I can think of that I changed recently was I updated my NVIDIA drivers to version 285.79 Beta yesterday. I had 5.0 for the first crash and updated to 8.0.2 thinking it may fix the problem. I do not have any of the programs that frequently cause crashes.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Firefox crashes upon startup after update to new version and download attempt

I was asked to update to a new version of Firefox, and when I responded positively to something like, "Do you want to run Firefox now?" it crashed immediately. When I tried to launch it from the desktop it crashed immediately. When I launched it holding down the shift key it brought up Internet Explorer, not Firefox. I don't know why. I tried to download Firefox from scratch, but the result was the same--it crashed upon launch.

Is this a chat forum? Will someone help me from here? Should I just wait here?

  • Firefox crashes upon attempting to print "Disqus" comments via "This frame" then "Print frame" route

I once relied on Firefox to print enormous quantities of reader Disqus-generated comments on a host of different web sites, since Firefox handled the memory management requirements better than all other browsers I've used. In November of last year, however, I allowed myself be conned into upgrading Firefox, since which point EVERY attempt to print Disqus comments via the right click “This frame” then “Print frame” route has resulted in a Firefox crash—every one, haven't achieved a single success. I've upgraded the Adobe “Create pdf” add-on; deleted then re-installed the Adobe document print driver in the Windows control panel; upgraded Firefox again (today); retried the drill in safe mode; etc.—all with no effect. This is the link to the latest crash report: bp-a1a4a752-6d4c-418f-a90d-4a1f72150404. Attempting to print comments generated by programs other than Disqus seem to work fine.
I mightily regret having been gulled into the original upgrade, since I effectively swapped a program that was working superbly for one that doesn't work at all. For whatever help you can provide, please accept my sincere thanks in advance.

Guigs2, thanks for the response. Yes, I can save the content of the webpage, then copy to another program for printing, but the drill within FF was much easier & direct (of course). Do you expect a fix for the identified bug, or is this the end of the road? If/when there should ever be a fix, how will I know of it? Thanks again.

  • Firefox crashes upon loading, everytime.

For about 4-5 weeks now firefox crashes when I attempt to open it. Instead, I get a nuisance of a "Mozilla Crash Reporter" pop up advising me that firefox will be contacted with details of my problem and they'll get back to me with a solution.
Well I'm NOT happy to report that not only hasn't anyone gotten back to me but the problem still persists despite having uninstalled & reinstalled both the current version & the older ones.
I'm extremely frustrated as I've yet to hear from anyone plus it's the internet browser of my choice (when it works well). Could somebody kindly get back to me with some advise on what's wrong, and how to go about fixing it.
