Firefox crashes when I click on "Add-Ons" from menu tab

Every time I click on "Tools" in the menu bar and then click on the "Add-ons" tab, Firefox immediately crashes and a crash report shows up asking if I want to submit the report. This only started happening after I recently installed a bunch of add-ons to my browser. I want to uninstall some of the add-ons but unfortunately I cannot even view the "Add-ons" page now because it keeps crashing every time I try. I have tried restarting my browser as well as my computer many times and still get the same crash error.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
*https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
This can be a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache, extensions.rdf) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is an update.

• Firefox crashes when trying to open Add-Ons menu

Firstly the search bar that s part of the Google toolbar would not search what i typed in it, it would simply do nothing. After I discovered this I decided to go look at the add-on or something in the add-on menu under tools. When I clicked "Add-On" firefox froze and has continued to do so everytime I click that option resulting in me having to force the program to close.

I have successfully disabled the addons by going this route;

• Firefox crashes when I click help troubleshoot information, and it's not sending crash reports.

Firefox crashes when I click help > troubleshoot information. It's also not sending crash reports. I really can't be any more specific or straightforward than I am being right now. I have reinstalled multiple times. I've tried the same thing in safe mode. Cache and history and cookies are cleared. Hardware Acceleration is disabled. All of it.

Computer's clean, and this is my second clean uninstall and re-install of Firefox tonight.
I'm not having this problem with Chrome.

• Firefox freezes when I access my add-ons page.

Firefox freezes when I access my add-ons page. I must use Task Manager to unfreeze it. Some add-ons (AdBlock) still work. Others (NetVideoHunter) don't. I would like to remove all the add-ons and start fresh, see if it makes a difference, but when I access my add-ons page to press the "Remove" button, FireFox freezes--so what am I supposed to do? I like Firefox because it's simple and generally glitch-free--until now.

hey furdeal - if you'd like a fresh start, you can simply reset firefox. this will keep your bookmarks, passwords & history but will remove all extensions and custom preferences...

Hello,
I believe clicking that should bring you to this link:
* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
However, your user agent looks very strange. Did you download Firefox from Mozilla?
* https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
* (full installers) https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If you did not, unofficial builds are not supported by Mozilla, and some are bundled with malicious applications. If you did not download from Mozilla, please uninstall Firefox now, and delete the Mozilla Firefox install directory to remove any residual files:
* C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
And reinstall Firefox by downloading from one of the two links posted earlier. Also if you remember where you downloaded Firefox, please report it here:
* https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/legal/fraud-report/
You may also want to run a scan for malware, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

• Why does Firefox 4 for mac crash when attempting to manage add-ons?

• Firefox 4 crashes when I open the Add-ons tab. How can I fix it?

i can only add that my english spell checker has stopped working, thats basically how I found out about this crash, I went to look at whats up with the add-on and my FireFox just crashes!

Hi,
If you're using a theme you can try to temporarily switch to the Default theme in Tools > Add-ons > Appearance. If the problem persists, please check if this happens in Safe Mode. Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. All these settings/options/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme, option or hardware acceleration is causing issues. Disabling/enabling hardware acceleration, and some types of add-ons in normal mode may require a Firefox restart.

• AddThis Button is gone after the last update. Also when I click on add ons, then select the options button on any add on the add on screen locks up and I have to shut down firefox. Any Ideas how to fix this? Running Windows XP.

After the most recent Firfox update, the Add-on page locks up when I click on options for any add-on. Also my AddThis button is gone.

# Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
# Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
# This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox

• Firefox crashes when I click an email link

When I click on an email link, like responding to a craigslist ad for example, firefox freezes then closes. I checked my mail applications and it's set to open thunderbird. I even changed it to have it ask me first, and it still crashes. Please help!

Hey crystalstorm,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read Troubleshooting extensions and themes.
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the Firefox crashes Knowledge Base article. If you've recently upgraded, you might want to check out this article as well.
Hopefully this helps!

• Firefox crashes when I click on the spell check function on a fanfic website

I tried to write a review for a fanfic on TTH and accidentally clicked the check spelling button on the page, I hit the X to close it and firefox promptly crashed.
I repeated it with random fic review pages on that site and got the same result.
I verified it on an identically configured firefox installation on a different computer.
no other website has elicited this reaction from firefox.

my add-ons has been hijacked and the garmin url immediately replaces add-ons and I lose the functionality of add-ons. Thank you.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't
