Firefox Crashes When I Click on "Listen" Icon

I've noticed that every time I visit answers.com website looking for tarnslation and meaning of words, and click on the listen icon, which works with Quick Time, Firefox CRASHES.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

This can be a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache, extensions.rdf) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. 
New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is an update.

Firefox crashes when I click help > troubleshoot information. It's also not sending crash reports. I really can't be any more specific or straightforward than I am being right now. I have reinstalled multiple times. I've tried the same thing in safe mode. Cache and history and cookies are cleared. Hardware Acceleration is disabled. All of it.

Computer's clean, and this is my second clean uninstall and re-install of Firefox tonight.
I'm not having this problem with Chrome.

Sometimes your security software will block new programs from accessing the internet. Are you getting any alerts along those lines?
Sometimes Firefox will stall during startup and never display its window. In that case, you may need to manually "kill" the firefox.exe process using the Windows Task Manager before trying to start Firefox again.
You can display the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Esc. Windows 8.1 has a different display than Windows 7, so I have to go by memory. If you see a tab named Applications, check that one first. Then check Processes, and finally check Details. If you find Firefox or firefox.exe on any of those tabs, select it and End Process (or other action to shut it down).
After you are done with the Task Manager, try starting Firefox up again.

I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 when prompted yesterday. Since then, whenever I try to click on the browser bar, Firefox crashes. I can use Firefox using the Google search bar and clicking on links, but as soon as I try to enter a URL in the browser bar, it crashes.

Simply go to:
1.View 2.Select tool bars 3. Uncheck any of the toolbars below: a. Babylon toolbar b. Softonic Eng 7 Community tool bar!
4.Finish.... if nothing happened try to unchechked other tool bars.

Firefox crashes when I click an email link

When I click on an email link, like responding to a craigslist ad for example, firefox freezes then closes. I checked my mail applications and it's set to open thunderbird. I even changed it to have it ask me first, and it still crashes. Please help!

Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].

Firefox crashes when I click on the spell check function on a fanfic website

I tried to write a review for a fanfic on TTH and accidentally clicked the check spelling button on the page, I hit the X to close it and firefox promptly crashed.
I repeated it with random fic review pages on that site and got the same result.
I verified it on an identically configured firefox installation on a different computer.
no other website has elicited this reaction from firefox.

Problematic plugins
Depending on your browser version and OS, Firefox may hang or crash because of a problematic plugin. Visit Mozilla's Plugin Check page (using another browser If Firefox crashes at startup) and update all outdated plugins to see if that resolves the problem.

on the 'Mail' page of Gmail if i click on the email title on the opening page in order to access the website for that particular service - i.e. Which Magazine, Firefox crashes - it doesn't do this in safe mode.

Mobile me has been discontinued for over a year. What system and iPhoto versions are you running?
How are you trying to sync? With Photo Stream or thru iTunes?
Do you have an iCloud preference pane in your System preferences?

Firefox crashes when I try to listen to audio files.

Whenever I try to listen to an audio file, regardless of format, firefox crashes. I can view video with no problem, but audio always shuts the browser down. This began with the upgrade to 4 on to version 6. I am using Linux Mint9 as my primary OS.

That is a problem with the VLC plugin, so you need to uninstall that plugin.

System Preferences crashes when I click the Bluetooth icon

I tried pairing my MacBook Pro with a Juno Trimble GPS receiver. It seemed to pair but wouldn't transfer a file from the GPS to the laptop. Now, when I click on the Bluetooth icon in System Preferences, it suddenly quits. I tried restarting the MacBook but that didn't help the issue.

I had a similar issue this morning and ended up having to go in to the Apple Store to get it fixed. It was a software issue and I needed to re-install the OS.
I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and neither would connect with the computer. Anytime I tried to do anything in the Bluetooth System Preferences, it stopped responding and I had to Force Quit.
The solution was to turn off the computer and hold down the "Option" key as I turned it back on. Hold the key down until a screen pops up with your hard drive button and a Recovery button. Click (or arrow over if you have a wireless mouse too) the Recovery button. It will take a second, but eventually your wireless mouse will connect with the computer in this mode. Select ReInstall OSX and follow the instructions. It takes about 2 hours, but Bluetooth and all your wireless devices should be working again.

System Preferences Crashes When I Click the MobileMe Icon

System Preferences crashes whenever I click on the MobileMe icon in System Preferences. All other icons in System Preferences work -- only the MobileMe icon causes a crash. I tried deleting com.apple.systempreferences.plist, but it didn't help.
Any suggestions? I can't find anyone else who has posted about this error (although, to be honest, such a post may be hidden in all of the posts about MobileMe crashes).

Same here. Sys Pref crashes and sync not working. I've had the same experience on a mini with .Mac, so your problem is not an isolated experience.
The only suggestion I can offer is to go for any of the MobileMe alternatives, such as BusySync, DropBox, Spanning Sync etc. However, I don't like patchy setups like these.
I'd really love to have the MobileMe functionality, as it currently offers best integration. If it only just worked.

FIREFOX CRASHES WHEN I click to close any window from a website,

I am on a website- any website. I click on a link or box within the website and a window opens. When I am done with that window I click the box in the window that says "close" or I click the little "x" in the corner and BANG- firefox closes, no crash report at all, just closes completely with out warning. Would like to re install firefox 3.???? never had that the the 3+ versions.Maybe I should start using IE again or I see that safari is supposed to be fast too?

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox. 
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Firefox crashes when I click on "Add-Ons" from menu tab

Every time I click on "Tools" in the menu bar and then click on the "Add-ons" tab, Firefox immediately crashes and a crash report shows up asking if I want to submit the report. This only started happening after I recently installed a bunch of add-ons to my browser. I want to uninstall some of the add-ons but unfortunately I cannot even view the "Add-ons" page now because it keeps crashing every time I try. Firefox crashes when I click on magnet link. HELP!

This problem has been happening for a while. When I go to a website and click on a magnet link, firefox just crashes. It just comes up saying firefox has stopped responding and has to close. I'm trying to open the magnet link via utorrent. It says that you should update your download application (uTorrent) to fix crashes. I did and it still does it.

Yep. Just downloaded firefox 11, still does the same thing. Updated utorrent to newest version, still doing it.

@sjpierce - I don't believe that this is a Firefox-specific issue, but it does sound like you have some sort of malware on your machine. What was this innocuous link that you clicked on? A lot of viruses and malware make their rounds on Facebook.
Regardless, what I would do is this ( I assume you're running Windows):
* Download the Free and awesome Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) via [http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/]
* Next update MSE and do a full system scan to ensure you don't have any existing malware on your machine. If so, clean it off and reboot. Keep doing this until you come up clean.
* Refer to this article on SUMO [[Profiles|Profiles]]
* Delete your old Firefox profile, create a new one and launch Firefox 4 again using the new profile
You should be back to normal at this point.
If you are running an OS like Mac OS X or Linux, it's unlikely that you have malware and you should probably clean your Firefox profile and start over again.
