Firefox crashes when uploading/downloading files from/to 'desktop folder'

Hello
I'm hoping, that you can help me!
I'm using Firefox 28.0 on MacBook Pro Mavericks 10.9.2
Firefox crashes/freezes when I try to upload/download files from/to my 'desktop folder'.
I't only happens, when I use this folder. Download to 'download folder' or any other folder works fine.
Download to 'desktop folder' when using Safari also works fine.
I't only happens when desktop and firefox tries to communicate.
It's very annoying when I accidentally forget, that the bugs is there, and I have to force quit and start all over again. And sometimes I don't even have a choice, because 'desktop' randomly opens as default folder, when I try to upload things.
Thank you so much in advance!
Kind regards Elizabeth

Hi ESwan,
I am not a Mac user so not the best person to attempt to assist but here goes.
I am presuming that info such as
PID: 1695 Event: cpu usage (microstackshots only)
Relate to the Mac OS X crash & event logging and reporting.
What we need are the ones that Firefox itself generates and submits for processing by Mozilla Firefox
* See [[Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash]]'''#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash'''
From what you say the crashes occur after a certain action and I am hoping that you will be able to use the easy method as in the article linked above. Navigate to about:crashes by keying ''about:crashes'' into the address bar. You are loolking for the ones starting wth ''bp-'' Paste two or three of those into your next post. Include the bp- part but not any link information before that. After they are pasted into the forum the forum software changed them to be links.

  • How to allow the user to upload a file from their desktop to MII Server?

    Hi,
Is there a way for the user to specify a file on their local computer to upload to the MII server for processing?  We have a method that works for uploading from a shared network drive, but now the need/desire is to allow the user to upload a file from their desktop.
Ideally, this would be a file browser that the user would click on to browse their local desktop and select the file and click "Upload" but not sure what's possible?
    This is using 12.1 SP4.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12 crashes when I download files for sites. What can I do?

When I try to download files from some sites. Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12 crashes. This has happened over and over again. I have sent numerous the crash to Mozilla.

I had no problem when working with version ff3.6.3.
After I updated to 3.6.12, when I try to down load a file or save a page, FF crashes or hangs. After I kill the program from Task manager, and reopen the program, FF successfully continues with the download and finishes it.
So decided to uninstall the entire FF, removing all the existing configurations and do a fresh install.
After I open the newly installed FF 3.6.12 for the first time and try to save the mozilla page, FF 3.6.12 still hangs. Looks like there is a serious bug in v3.6.12.
    Please fix it soon.
Where can I download earlier version?
    Thanks

is there any alternatives in java
I need path and have to calculate MD5, Presumably you need to calculate MD5 on the contents of the file and not on the name of the file.
and convert the file to binary format.... etc oprations on itSorry, "convert a file to binary format" is basically meaningless.
but we can get the content of the file using
    byte [] get()/ getString() methods
If i get content is there any performance degrades?
ie if the content is lengthy is it take more time?Take more time than what? Degrading performance from what? It's certainly true that it would be quicker to not upload the file, but that's a pointless comparison. If you have some other process to compare with, let us know what it would be.

  • Office 2013 Crashes when Opening Downloaded Files

    Hello,
I am running Office 2013 on Windows 7; anytime I attempt to open a Word document that has been downloaded from my email, the program crashes.  I see the Word splash screen, then the document opens for about two seconds, then it crashes.  Upon reopening
Word, I am prompted to repair the program.   After I repair the program and reopen Word again, I am prompted to reactivate the software.
If the attachment is saved directly to the computer, then opened from Word internally, the program works fine.  I have already unchecked the boxes in the Trust Center and disabled the COM add-ons.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!

    Hi,
I’m a little confused about the difference between “open a Word document downloaded from your email” and “attachment is saved directly to the computer”. What is the difference between
    them?
Do you open the document on OWA or from Outlook client?
If there is no issue when opening it from OWA, this issue may be related to Outlook client.
Let's troubleshoot this from running Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related. Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter. Then we may try to open the attachment, if there’s no problem in Safe
Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We may also perform a clean boot to determine if background programs are interfering with Word:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
If Word crash still appears on local disk, we can analyze crash file.
Let’s enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\WORD.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
Then, open Word to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crash dump file under c:\.
To further help you, please upload this file into OneDrive and shared the link here.
Also, you can try to analyze dump by yourself if you would like to:

  • When uploading large file from network, all other requests are not being sent to server

In our application we are facing a weird scenario in which when we try to upload a huge file(600+ MB) from network, all other requests(AJAX) are getting blocked. But when the same file is being uploaded from local location(E drive) then everything works fine.

How are you uploading the file via network?
If you are troubleshooting the network bandwidth? or the threads where one process takes precedent over the other you will have to troubleshoot the QoS of the network you see this on.
To give a better visual please use Firebug or the Web Developer tool called Network to analyze the requests. The "XMLHttpRequest" will give better clues for Ajax. Reference [http://ajaxian.com/archives/ajax-debugging-with-firebug]
There may be a about:config option that allows mutithreading or max persistent connections per server you can check.

Every time I open Firefox navigator, I see the download arrow as if it has just downloaded. Today, however, I looked more than usual and found out that there are 6 files from my computer that appear as failed download.
I run my antivirus (free) with no luck.

  • IPlanet Web Server crashes when uploading a file of size 15 MB

    Hi
Setup is iPlanet Web Server 6.0 with iPlanet App Server 6.5. A servlet is used to upload files using multipart form data. The web server restarts itself when tried to upload a huge file (approx 15 MB). The error log says
    Catastrophe (600) Web server crashed.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Rajesh

yeah its working fine. Thank you very much..
But it would be better if we provide the chunklength rather than using a zero to upload the file fastly.

  • Firefox crashes when I select FILE then OpenFile, and sometimes it lets me get to a file list, but when I select that it crashes

This has been an ongoing problem, and it does not occur with IE, Opera, Chrome, Browzar, Safari or Avant browsers.
If I click "File" and then "Open File" it will frequently crash. Sometimes I can navigate to an actual filename in a director, however clicking on that file to open it will crash it. The files can be text files, web pages or photos. It crashes equally among them, or any other file I try to open. There are approximately 65 forwarded messages created by my browser and sent each time this happens but I have never heard from anyone at Firefox about it.

Ooops. I haven't updated my sig in a while. I'm on 10.8.2 and it happens on a late 2008 Alu Macbook.

  • Kernel crash when uploading FTP files

Just let you know, that I got Kernel crash, when I was uploading files using FTP Transmit.
I guess time machine make it crash.
I unplugged the HDD and all is ok.
This means no FTP, no Aperture............... and so many other things

Thanks for this, I just wrote a reply on the other thread too. I'm very grateful for that.
In my case there was no grey screen, just the sudden freeze (no beachball, nothing) -- the computer is working fine one moment and then instantly moves to a state where the mouse pointer doesn't move, keyboard doesn't do anthing, flashing cursor in the clock stops, and the only thing to resolve this is the power button. I don't know the technical term for this -- somebody told me 'hard crash' might be the term.
I'm wondering how to avoid this happening. It actually happens MORE frequently than the ominous grey screen saying 'You need to restart'. It's more common on the laptop than on the G5, though.
    Thanks again.

  • Firefox crash whenever I download file

Actually, the problem is that, whenever the Downloads Window is opened in Firefox (i'm using the latest version), Firefox crashes. Anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks

    [OT]
The grep part is handy (but he should grep for the package name), as pacman searches the whole 'pacman -Qi' output:
    [karol@black ~]$ pacman -Qs syslog
    local/perl-device-modem 1.54-1 [0,12 MB]
Perl extension to talk to modem devices connected via serial port
    local/syslog-ng 3.2.4-3 [1,16 MB] (base)
Next-generation syslogd with advanced networking and filtering capabilities
    '--quiet' doesn't help of course:
    [karol@black ~]$ pacman -Qqs syslog
    perl-device-modem
    syslog-ng
Why would I want perl-device-modem if I'm searching for syslog?

  • Firefox crashes when sending e-mail from hotmail. This is not an issue for safari. Help!

Firefox keeps crashing when I try to create a new e-mail in hotmail or forward an e-mail. It is a browser issue, because when I try to do the same thing in safari, I don't have any trouble.

I did. When I type in about crashes in the address bar I get this:
    Submitted Crash Reports
No crash reports have been submitted.
How can I search for a crash signature when I don't get one? Is there something I can do to make sure that I do get one.
