Firefox creates a new dock icon after an add on updates

Often, after I update an add on, Firefox creates a new, temporary icon in my dock. The old icon is still in the dock and clickable to reopen Firefox, but once Firefox opens, the temporary icon reappears unless I replace it with the new icon after every update.

can't believe that i was the only person to have the problem, but no replies whatsoever suggest i was. have now upgraded to 5.0 where the problem has not yet reoccurred.

ICal weird dock icon after 10.7.2 update

Hello,
I updated yesterday to 10.7.2 and since then, iCal is showing one weird icon in the dock, when it is not running.
It looks like a trabsparent image with the current date in the middle in black.
When iCal is running, it shows then its normal icon as expected.
I am using a macbook pro mid2009, 2,53MHz, if that matters.
I removed and added back the icon to the dock, but the bahaviour still persists.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?

I've got the exact same problem, MacBook Pro 4,1 here. As you can see it's really tricky to see on a dark background:
Running the app makes this go back to normal...but only when the app is running. Note that the icon also looks like this in Launchpad.
I've looked through various forums and have tried all of these proposed solutions (evidently this is a common occurrance in previous iCal updates):
Trash Dock preference file
Trash iCal preference files (all of them)
Trash iCal Caches data
Repair drive permissions
Reboot
Pull icon out of dock and re-add it
None of those, except the first one, do anything. The first one "fixes" it briefly as it resets the Dock to defaults. This causes iCal to revert to the default icon all the way up to the point that whatever process goes in, grabs the current date, and alters the icon to show the current date. Whatever that process is, it's the one with the corrupted or missing icon graphics. If any one knows anything about what updates the iCal icon to show the current date, that would be the first step to fixing this.
Anyone else feel like Lion has been the buggiest OS X release thus far? Granted, I didn't use 10.0 or 10.1.

What do you mean 'give me an example please' ? And 'dont have use a credit card' ?
Unless you follow the instructions on this page when creating a new account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
then you will need to enter credit card details before the account can be used in the store.
If you don't have a credit card then you will need to create a new account, but this time follow the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it. If you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, http://appleid.apple.com, or by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone.

Apps are permanently tied to the AppleID that downloaded them and cannot be transferred to another. Best thing to do is delete the apps and download those you want or need under your AppleID.

What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....

Every time Firefox is launched it creates a new profile.
I have uninstalled and removed all reg keys / directories including:
HKLM\Software\Mozilla
HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Mozilla

%APPDATA%\local\mozilla
%APPDATA%\roaming\mozilla
%PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\Mozilla
I am on Windows 8 but also have users experiencing this on Windows 7
I have switched between different version 32 & 35

Temporarily removing or renaming ''profiles.ini'' is a recognised method of forcing Firefox to create a new profile. The ''profiles.ini'' may be deliberately edited to point to or even to create new profiles.
*Please post the content of the present locked ''profiles.ini'' <br />and the ''profiles.ini'' content that results after it is unlocked and allowed a few restarts. (edit for privacy reasons if necessary e.g. to remove actual real names).
*Try temporarily renaming profiles.ini to profiles.ini.faulty1 whilst Firefox is closed.

When clicking links from Thunderbird, Firefox creates a new link with no data, I have to click again to create a new link with the correct url

When I click a link in thunderbird and also on firefox it creates a new tab with nothing in it, a blank web page. If I click the link again it creates a new tab with the link. If i click it again, a blank tab, click it again,new tab with the correct info. It seems to work only on the even numbered clicks not the odd ones.

If you delete all the Adobe Reader stuff it will probably fix this. For almost everything, the Apple pdf handling works better.

Create a new header+item after sync the item some informations are deleted

I have a DO with a backend adapter and 3 bapi wrapper (GetList, GetDetail, Create).
When I create a new instance (header+item) on client side the data are correct in the database. After a sync the instance is also on the client and the Backend but he lost some informations in the item.
For example i create e_top object (header) and t_vehicle object (item) the i added the item to the header an wirte it in the database. In the datebase both tables for header and item are correct filled.

Now when I snyc with the middleware the object is still on the client (1 row in the e_top table and 1 row in the item table) but in the row of the item table all data until the header key(Licence_Number) is deleted. In the Backend there is a new objekt with only the header imformations.

there was another post today n a similar issue. I still do not think it is a standard issue - so lets check first if your implementation is correct.
You should have a look on the CREATE BADI in the backend and on the mapping in the DOE. I expect the CREATE handler does not get all informations form the client, cause you missed to do the propper mapping in the DOE on the middleware. Check this first. If you see the data on the client, the client side should be fine. Check the DOE and its mapping and the BADI implementation on the backend.

Lost wallpaer and dock icon after boot

Sometimes during boot a fray bar appears, like when I update EFI and after boot I have lost wallpaer and dock icon.
In that case I have to reboot and during boot the gray bar does not appear and I get my wallpaper back but the dock is empty.

Did you remove the preferences folder or the preferences within that folder from /Users/Home/Library? If you have not then perhaps something has happened to your drive/directory that seems to have affected only that part of your system - unlikely but possible. Do you have a backup?
I don't know how SuperDuper works having never used it but can you recreate your backup sets from the backups themselves?

Creating a new DAQmx task after building to EXE

Should I be able to create a new DAQmx Task while running a VI containing the DAQmx Task control that was built as an EXE?
I can't but would like to know if there is a work around or if I am doing something wrong. See the attached screen shots.
When I am not running the VI, I can right click the Task front panel control and select "New NI-DAQmx Task" -> "Project" or "MAX", but when it is running or I am using the VI built as an EXE (running or not) I can't. In the EXE I am able to click the Task drop down box -> "Browse..." -> "Create New..." -> "MAX Task" but nothing happens when I click on "MAX Task".
I would like to be able to create a new task in the software to use different channels and signal types on the fly. The goal is to build a program setup similiar Signal Express but include some on off controls for some machinery and scale it down and customize it so that it is easier to show people how to use it.

When running your exe, you'll be able to select from tasks created in MAX. Instead of right clicking on the task control, try creating the tasks you want directly in MAX (under Data Neighborhood right click on DI-DAQmx Tasks to create a new one). Tasks that you've saved in MAX will be selectable in the DAQmx Task Name control.

How can I make a new Dock Icon which when clicked has apps inside

I just seen a Youtube video for something and on the video it had a dock icon of iLife 09, and when clicked it had all the iLife 09 apps, iPhoto, imovie etc in the icon like stacks. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahiXGtP3bGA, about 22secs in he click its)
i would like to do this and then I'd be able to remove the individual iLife 09 apps from my dock for space.
Can someone help me on this please. I have leopard v10.5.8

Create a folder anywhere convenient. Place in it aliases to the iLife programs. Drag it to the Dock.
If you want it to show with an icon rather than the generic folder icon, do this before dragging it to the dock:
Select the program which has the icon you want to use, e.g. GarageBand. Hit command-i. In the top left-hand corner of the info pane which opens is the icon for Pages. Click this to select it and hit command-c. Close the pane.
Select your folder: hit command-i. At the top left of the pane you will see the folder icon: click this to select it and his command-v. Now you can drag your folder to the Dock.

Safari dock icon reverted to generic app icon after 7.0.6 update

Since the 7.0.6 update, Safari has the generic Applications icon in the dock, not the Safari icon. This is also true of the software application in the Applications folder. I've tried restarting my Mac, and removing the dock icon and putting it back. I'll try deleting and re-downloading Safari from the App Store if no-one has any other ideas.
I've had this problem with a 3rd party app (1password) and got very snippy with the AgileBits support lady about it, but now it's happened with an apple native app I'm guessing this is Mavericks?
