Firefox deletes text as you type

As I'm typing into the URL/Address bar, Firefox will let me type and about halfway through actually typing a URL, It automatically deletes it and the process continues.

When I open Firefox, the panel that you type in is missing, the curser is there ,and when you click into it and start typing, nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest updates to no avail.

The only way I can carry on a search, is to click on Google, and that takes me to another screen, with a panel to type into, and that works fine.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F). 
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. 
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
*Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
*If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

Blackberry 8520 Doesnt show what you are texting while you type in bbm sometimes HELP!

This is for my boyfriend whose blackberry curve 8520 from t-mobile at times does not show what he is typing in the bbm message area. Does anyone know what it could be or if it has happened to them too?

Mac is jumping and deleting text

My computer has completely become possessed. It deletes text as I type, I can walk away from the computer with a document open and watch it edit, jump and delete. It also opens any program or web page I get near. I have tried everything. Unpared my touchpad, unpared my mouse, unpared my keyboard, repared them and made sure none of the gestures were on. Place all new batteries in everything. The last thing I had done just prior to having this problem was install the OSX patch. I do not know if this is the problem but the computer is now useless as it opens items on its own and deletes text ect. Please apple community I need help I have deadlines and my ipad is fun but i need my computer to use in design, photoshop, illustrator and even word. HELP

You make no mention if you have tried using a wired mouse & keyboard to see if the problem was still there.
Have you tried opening up another account to see if you have the same problem? Need to determine if the problem is system wide or just user (Home) account wide.
The last thing I had done just prior to having this problem was install the OSX patch.

How do I retrieve or view deleted text messages

If you're using the stock text app, do you have your texts backed up anywhere? If you're using Verizon Messages, they should be available in your on-line My Verizon account.

I unchecked "Check spelling as you type" but Firefox still underlines words in cut-and-pasted text in some web apps. How can I stop it from doing this?

I'm using an online web mapping application that has input boxes for descriptive text and stuff like that. Sometimes I copy blocks of text from a word processing app into these input boxes because I can format the text in the wp. When I paste the text blocks, Firefox does the wiggly red underline on words it doesn't know. I've already turned off "check spelling as you type" but this doesn't make a difference. I don't want Firefox to check spelling on these text blocks that I copy and paste. Sometimes I need to capture screen images of these text blocks in the mapping application and I want them to look clean. Thanks.

Does "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a tick when this happens?
You can consider to disable the spell check underline by setting the ui.SpellCheckerUnderlineStyle pref to 0 (zero) on the about:config page.

Hold your finger on the word for a little time - after a second or so, a magnifying view appears showing the few letters around your finger, with a cursor. Roll your finger to move the cursor to just in front of the letter you want to fix. Then let your finger go. You can now backspace to delete and replace the incorrect letter.

Making a text box expand as you type into it?

I was wondering if it is possible to make a text box (or any kind of box) expand as you type into it. Currently the box does not have a caption, I simply want to allow the value box to expand as i type into it. It would also be great if it would expand to another page...does anyone know if this is possible and if so how can i do it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and, yes, that is a mess x about 17.   The good news is I didn't design it -- the bad news is I got tagged to try and fix it.

You haven't used any subforms so it's not going to work as-is.
                    I don't think whoever did the initial form knew about the subform issue so no provisions made for them.
I won't have time to look at it closely until tonight. Some questions/comments in the meantime:
Do you really need 2 master pages - does that block need to be at the bottom of each page? Or is it just supposed to follow everything else.
                     the information is to be on the bottom of every page -- clients/workers need to sign each page to prove they have read the information
You've used tables to do a lot of the layout - probably not a good idea.
                              if we need to dump the tables, that's fine - I looked at the 7_Questions_Flowing.pdf from another thread and I can make it work
                              the way it needs to with the information in a header but they WANT it as a footer.
You've made the Content Area the full size of the page, better to size it what you want your margins to be.

I followed your help directions on "Corrupt extension files" under "Unable to install add-ons", foolishly deleting the files you told me to. Now firefox won't open. I tried reinstalling firefox but it still won't open. Now what do I do?

I was trying to install the SEOQuake add on. After clicking install Firefox would hang up saying the script had timed out and asking if I want to stop it or continue. Didn't matter which option I chose nothing would happen. The only way to stop it was to close Firefox and restart. Tried restarting the computer. Still wouldn't install. Tried installing the Outwit add on and got the same error leading me to conclude it was a problem with Firefox, not the add on. Finally at the end I got to "Corrupt extension files". I foolishly deleted the files you told me to and now Firefox won't even start! I tried reinstalling Firefox and it still won't start. At this point I'd just be happy to be able to get Firefox working.

You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Does firefox 4 have the 'feeling lucky' google search feature when you type phrases into the URL bar? ATM it goes to google where i then have to click on website.

if i type simply phrases in to the URL bar (i,e bbc) it use to take me directly to www.bbc.co.uk. but now in firefox 4, it seems to go to google.co.uk instead displaying all the searched items. I then have to click on the link i want.

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.

# Locate the preference '''keyword.URL''', double-click on it and change its value to the link shown below

Check spelling as you type + pasted text.

With the "Check spelling as you type" enabled, if you were to copy some text from another window / application and paste into a "new message" window, the spell checker does not check it.
Originally this was not a problem as pressing "Command + ;" (semi-colon) would search forward for the errors - but this does not seem to work in Mail v2.
The only solution I have found so far is to press "Alt + Right Arrow" to move between the words.

Look at this a little more, it seems that the
Edit > Spelling > Check Spelling
menu item is disabled... I presume this needs to be enabled for it to work like it used to (skip to the next word which is incorrectly spelt)

only way is to restore the phone as new. OR wait until IOS 7 comes out in the fall.

How do you delete span tags from type?

I've accidentally set the colour of some text at the box level, then tried to change the colour of a word or two within the box, but one thing seems to override the other, and I can't seem to delete either colour tag. Any ideas, please?

You can use the Edit button in the Movies Tab of the Videos app in order to bring up the red delete button. You can also go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Videos>Movies. There is an Edit button in there as well or you can swipe from right to left across the movie to get the deletebutton.
If you are seeing the cloud icon next to the movies, they are really not on the iPad but are in iCloud instead and can be hidden in Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show All>Videos>Off.

I have dell xps it runs at 3840 x 2167 and bridge lightroom and photoshop are unusable as the type is so small if win is re scaled to a low res the products still use full res and you canot see text can you help!

I am about to buy the above products for home and a laptop I bought the high res laptop for editing photos and the photos look great on the display but I cannot use photo shop and lightroom
has any body had this problem and is there a simple fix that I have missed
taking the res down in the control panel reduces the res but does not effect the programme
by the way the dell xps is great

I am using the latest photoshop and bridge from the cloud but only using the trial copy at the
moment

There is that pitfall in buying HiDpi laptops for Windows.
Only Photoshop CC 2014 has the option to scale the UI 200% in order to make it usable on these hires screens.
CC and earlier does not have this and Adobe would have to retrofit them. Not likely with older products.
