Firefox deletes the first 2-6 characters typed into the URL box. Why?

Firefox deletes the first couple characters in the URL address box when I type fast.
Example. I want to go to '''mozilla.com'''
When I start to type, I'll see '''mozi''', but then it suddenly disappears and I finish with '''lla.com'''. I instinctively press enter and end up having to re-enter the address ''slowly'' which is a major pain in the rear.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Right click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar, you can put it (and other things) back from the dialog box that you'll get

There is something wrong with the download that Adobe is pointing too. You can get the working download here:

I see two problems when trying to download a new version of Flash Player from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. .
1. Your Web server is sniffing for my browser. I select the "Download now" button, and I get the same page all over again. The navigation is looping. If I spoof Firefox 6.0.2, however, I do get a download. This means you are sniffing for "Firefox" when you should be sniffing for "Gecko".
2. While spoofing Firefox, the download gives me install_flashplayer10_chrd_aih.exe, which is not the installer for Flash Player 10.3.183.10. Instead, it is some kind of helper. To get the correct installer file, I had to search my archives to find the URI http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win /install_flash_player_10.exe.
Both of these problems were previously cited in this forum at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3885371. Neither problem has been fixed.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I want to know why I can't clear my history because whenever I open the view history menu, it goes to the library/bookmark menu. Essentially I just want to delete the websites that come up when I start to type in the url box

The Library handles both the History and the Bookmarks.
Don't you see the History item in the left pane that shows the full tree ?

Firefox 4 and later versions save the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session. 
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox") if you want to restore multiple windows. 
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time. 
You may need to click the orange/gray Firefox button to see History. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
Another possibility is to use:

I am trying to backup my Itunes onto my external hard drive. I am at the step where I on Itunes, click on File - Library - Organize library. I am suppose to check mark both boxes there, It won't allow me to check mark the second box, why? How to fix this.

Well you must have made a mistake somewhere. The last instruction of step four reads:
When you've found your iTunes library folder, drag that folder to your external hard drive. This will begin the iTunes backup. The amount of time the backup will take depends on the size of your library. When the transfer is done, your backup is complete and your external hard drive can be disconnected.
Normally dragging content from to a new location on a different drive will result in a copy action which is what you were supposed to do. At a guess you somehow managed to move the iTunes folder. Then when you started iTunes it created a new blank library for you assuming it had just been installed rather that raising a warning.
Close iTunes. Rename the iTunes folder on the internal drive as iTunes (Empty) then copy the iTunes folder from the external back into the User's Music folder. Start iTunes. All should be well.
When you've made sure it all works please read my User Tip and use that method to backup in future. Since you already have a folder with the backup in place you can skip the "Make New" operation in the fourth step and simply choose the external folder.

Url used to show in the url box when opening from a shortcut or email, but now it's not there. If I refresh the page it is. How do I get this back the way I like it?

The url of the website that I'm visiting used to show in the url box when I opened from a shortcut or email. But not it's not there unless I refresh the page. I've looked and haven't found a way to set this so that it works like it used to. I liked being able to click in the address bar and copy the link, or even to look there and see where I am.

I'm unable to check it in safe mode because the only time it happens is when I click a link and have not firefox open. For example if I would click a link in my email right now, it would open in another tab and show the address of the link I clicked. But if I didn't not have this window open and clicked alink, it would open a new window and I wouldn't be able to see the url.

I know you can on Firefox, I'm not sure if there's a way to do it in Safari.
I want to be able to type in "apple" in the URL box and then have that go to google or directly to apple.com instead of going in the google search box...
I know, I'm strange, but is there a way to do that? I've already checked the preferences.

If you type apple in the URL box, you should get several options. One is apple.com. If I type Firefox in the box, it takes me to the Mozilla web site.

Customize no longer works for me in FF 29. It just brings up "about:customizing" in the URL box

I like the new interface in FF29, but my back and forward arrows no longer show in the toolbar. No problem, I thought. I'll just correct the lost customization. But when I choose customize, I don't get the usual customize menu. "about:customizing" is simply inserted in the URL box.

Have you tried it in "Safe Mode" - F10 > Help > Restart with addons disabled?
When I enter "about:customizing" it takes me to the same customising view as does using right-mouseclick on a non-active part of the main toolbar.
Another gotcha might be that at the bottom-left there is a drop down list where menus can have their visibility set. It's possible for some buttons to be hidden because these menus are set "off". Just for when you do find your customise page ...

Why in Firefox 35 the URL sequence \] is being transformed in "%"5D?

We have an application that receives an enconding URL having the ] char. On Firefox 35 it is encoded into "%"5D which is causing us trouble decoding the url.
Can you provide details on why this modification was held?

Those square brackets are unsafe characters and thus are escaped by Firefox.

When opening any website I get a message that windows can't find the file, after which Firefox opens the site. Why do I get the windows message?

Using XP. I do not use Explorer, only Firefox. The windows message I get does not prevent Firefox from opening. This only happens when I first open Firefox. Once open, it does not happen again unless I close Firefox.
