Firefox did not fully uninstall

It all began innocently enough, as these things do...
I am using a Dell Dimension 5150 with XP Pro and Service Pack 3.
When I finally (recently) decided to install Firefox, I wanted it to integrate with Win I.E. 8. I can't remember which add-on I installed, but it worked well except for one website. The password box automatically fills in with an unknown password that disappears with clicked on. Normally, in the past with I.E. 8, when I typed in the Username and my password, it overrode the defaulted one. It worked fine once in Firefox, but after that the defaulted password overrides mine and I cannot access the site correctly (it can be viewed, just no template downloads, posting or commenting on threads or previews of the threads can be seen).
So, I used CCleaner to thoroughly clear the History, Cache, Passwords, etc. out of Firefox. That didn't work. I've uninstalled Firefox from the Control Panel in Win XP Pro (but the Mozilla folder was still in Program Files and the Firefox Desktop Icon was still on the Desktop.
So, I uninstalled Firefox again, and then uninstalled I.E. 8, restarted the computer, and reinstalled I.E. 8, and still noticed that the Mozilla folder and Icon were still on/in the computer. I also disabled MS Silverlight in Firefox (I never used in I.E.)
So, how do I disassociate Firefox from I.E. 8 and how do I override the defaulted password?
Thanks in advance.

  • The download of Mozilla - Firefox did not fully complete. Why is there nothing except words on a white background, no themes, nothing?

I downloaded Mozilla-Foxfire and it looks like an un-finished program. Although there is a place to add themes and "stuff", nothing appears. The toolbar is the only thing of color. I changed themes and still nothing. I discovered the plugin for Windows XP was not installed, so I installed that and tested it and worked as it said, even installed updated Java, Shockwave Flash, and still nothing. Already have Adobe, & Acrobat. Having a terrible time transferring Bookmarked files from iGoogle. Have been through several support pages and still nothing shows up, except colored toolbar. Some pages have things listed with a line drawn through it. I have tried everything I know and still no changes.

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is totally messed up by another program that you installed, and Barclays doesn't know you are using Firefox 3.6.6 - it probably looks like IE 6.0 to that website.

type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
    Filter = '''general.useragent.'''
Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select '''''Reset''''',
    Then restart Firefox

When iam using jdownloader for dowload, the firefox did not work at any page, as like`` there in no internet conexion?``

you need to check whether '''jdownloader''' is compatible with the Firefox version you are using.
-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extension section -> check the Status of '''jdownloader''' extension -> if '''an update''' is available for this add-on then install the update -> Restart Firefox and check again check the compatibility -> if it is '''GREYED with Exclamation mark''' then it is incompatible with Firefox
Try using this extension to force compatibility.

  • How do I manually restore a browsing session's tabs? Firefox did not reopen them after a computer freeze and shutdown.

Last night around 4 AM I was browsing in Firefox when my laptop suddenly froze. No mouse or ctl+alt+del responsiveness, nothing, just a frozen unresponsive screen, so after waiting a few moments in vain I forced a shutdown and restart with the power button. I've done this in the past without problems, but this time when I restarted my computer Firefox did not reopen my tabs automatically, or prompt me to restore the session. This is pretty alarming as I have plenty of websites tabbed and kept open permanently that I don't know if I will ever be able to find again. Can anyone give me help in manually restoring a previous session's tabs? I assume this information is stored somewhere on my computer, for Firefox's own use.

I suspect that Firefox doesn't store session history for private windows, but you could try rescuing all the sessionstore files in your currently active personal settings folder (also known as your Firefox profile folder) just in case.
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
That should take you to the critical folder. Try copying all sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a different location (e.g., Documents) where there's no danger of Firefox overwriting them.
If you check the timestamps, can you tell which one has the best chance of having your old windows and tabs? Open that one in a text editor. You may need to turn on text wrapping. If you can remember any text from the URL or title of the page you were viewing, try searching in the text to see whether you can find it. If not, the quest may be futile.

  • How do i recieve the rest of the song i downloaded if it is saying it did not fully download

A song i have just downloaded did not fully download the song

    Hi Attila528,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not able to receive a rescue email to reset your security questions and password:
You'll need to contact iTunes Store support to have your questions and answers reset.
You can find the article with this information here:
Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
After your password, security questions and answers are reset, I'd recommend providing a new rescue email address:
You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • Itunes purchased song did not fully download

I bought a song from itunes store and it did not fully download

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one.
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Firefox did not launch. I downloaded new one. the icon is crossed out. how can I fix this?

    March 25 2011
I'm on a Mac OS X (power pc)
After restarting my computer today. Firefox did not launch. I clicked on the icon, it started to initiate and then stopped before anything happened.
To try to fix the problem, I trashed the application and downloaded a new one. It gave me a message: "The application Firefox cannot be launched -10661."
I retried the download and the second time, the Firefox application icon has been crossed out. That is it has a circle with a slash over it. Same message comes up.

Sorry, Firefox 4 is not available for PowerPC Macs. You can re-install the previous version from here:

Or you can find an unofficial version of Firefox 4 for PowerPC here: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

  • I am running Windows XP and Earthlink dialup and I cannot access the Yahoo home page, although I can get to my mail account. Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox did not help

Also, I forgot my Firefox password, and although the program claimed to have sent email to my email address, it never showed up. [I later found it in the spam folder ] I have had to use another account to post here.

I tried cleaning out the cache, that did not work

  • Firefox will not start, uninstall or delete

Okay, basically since a little after firefox 4 came out, I have been having issues. Firefox will not run or uninstall. Also, I cannot delete the mozilla firefox folder.
I am running vista 64 bit on a sony vaio laptop.
When i double click the firefox logo i get the following message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I have even tried going to firefox.exe file in the program folder and tried to run the program as admin, no luck.
When i try uninstalling forefox it tells me that windows needs permission to continue. when i click continue, it just goes back to the uninstall screen.
I have even tried running the uninstall helper from the mozilla firefox folder, it asks for permission and when i click on "continue" it just quits.
I have even tried deleting the mozilla firefox folder from the "program files (x86)" folder. it asks "are you sure you want to move this folder to the recycle bin?" i select "yes". then it tells me i need to confirm this action. i hit continue. then it tells me windows needs my permission to continue, and i hit continue. then it tells me destination folder access denied. then i hit "try again" and the "try again" screen just keeps coming back, until i give up and hit cancel.
My computer is not set up with multiple accounts, i don't specificially have an admin profile, i only have the one profile.
Really, i have only noticed this problem since after i installed firefox 4
Hopefully someone can help, before i have to give up on firefox.
    Thank you

FredMcD, thanks again for taking the time to help. I changed the "Connection Settings" to "No proxy," and then upgraded to FF 32.0, but it did not open up. So I am back to 24.0. If you have other ideas, I am willing to try it out so that I can upgrade to the latest FF version.
On a different Firefox topic, I imported my "Favorites" list from IE to FF, and I do see them when I go through the "Bookmarks" tab on the very top of the screen. Then under "View" tab, I have selected "Bookmarks Toolbar" which places a direct link called "From Internet Explorer" a couple of lines below the main toolbar (my idea is to save a few clicks if I want to go to my IE Favorites. However, when I click on that direct link, I only see 3 entries ("Customize links"; "Suggested sites" and "Web Slice gallery," but I do not see the many entries that should be there from my IE Favorites list. The strange thing is that until a few days ago I used to see all my IE Favorites when I clicked on this direct link! What should I do?

  • When i plug in my 5c overnight to charge, it did not fully charge

my iPhone 5c has ios 8.1.2  the memory available is 7.8gb storage capacity is12.8gb.  when I plug in the charger to charge overnight, it does not fully charge.  my phone was at 40% power last night and I plugged in the charger and this morning it was at only 61% power.  When I plugged it in, the battery symbol did not turn green, nor did it make the beep sound.  What is wrong?

Are you using a genuine Apple charger and cable? If not, I would suspect there's a problem with either the plug or cable. Also, make sure the outlet you're using is working properly. Did a breaker blow through the night?
