Firefox displays files as Media Player format

hi when i attempt to download a split file, firefox reads the split file as a media player file instead of a windows common dll. is there anyway to solve this?

Download and install Flip4Mac - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - to play Windows Media files via Quicktime. Also get Perian to provide additional codecs for other video formats.
The Delete key is on the keyboard next to the "=" key.

Windows Media Player on a PC plays avi and mpg in addition to the WMV and ASF files so you can either use a Windows program that generates those files from .mov format or you can use QT Pro to convert the .mov to uncompressed avi and then use Windows Media Encoder to make WMV files. Although it may be out there no one here has mentioned a PC program that converts directly from .mov format to WMV. There is a program for Mac OS that does it and I believe that company is working on a version for Intel Macs so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to port it to Windows.

Changing QT movies into Media player format

On my web page, I have a number of QT movies that won't play on PC unless they get QT for PC (which seems to be a problem for some people). How can I transfer my QT movies into a Media Player format ?

You can offer two versions or continue to use QuickTime.
The "conversion" to Windows Media format should only be done from the original source files.
I've found that a simple "explanation" page (that describes the value of QuickTime) works just as well. Knowledge is consumer power. H.264 video codec is making rapid inroads to our Web content.

How to play .wma and other Windows Media Player-format files/videos on Mac?

Hi again,
I will be asking stupid questions as I'm a newbie to Mac, so please bear with me. There are some video format that QuickTime player doesn't play e.g. .wma files. I tried a couple of times to download Windows Media Player for Mac but it doesn't install on my Mac! Do I require a software similar to Zipfile or does Mac has it all build in?
PS - What is the coequal of "delete" button here in Mac (keyboard)?

Webcast in Windows Media Player format - Can I save this to my iPod

There are news events that are webcast the next day using RealPlayer and Windows Media Player. They play as nice little videos in my web browser, complete with audio.
Is there a way that these things can be captured and converted to a correct format for the iPod. I tried control-clicking (on Mac, equivalent to right-clicking in Windows) and 'download source' only yielded a 24k html document. So, I guess the first goal would be how to download the video file itself.
Anyone have experience with how to do this? Please let me know how to go about it.

I guess I am finding out that they are streaming and can't be downloaded. When I try to download they just download the link to the video.
Maybe someone with experience in capturing online video can look at it for me and see if they know a way to capture it to my computer so I can convert it.

Uploading a video in Windows Media Player format HELP

I just used the Insert:Media:Plugin to upload a video in .wav format and when I look at it on the web, it just says "ng PL" and nowhere does it play. What am I doing wrong? I did 'put' it onto the server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

First, the wav format is an audio format not a Windows media format. Thus the computer can decide what to do with it. Either iTunes or WMP or any other media player could pick up the file.
Second, wav files are typically uncompressed. Thus you are making your users download a file that is larger than they need to be download if it were to be encoded as MP3 or AAC, both of which are more optimized for web streaming and/or distribution.
Then what you need to look at is a Flash player or if HTML5 is an option, the audio tag, to embed the audio file onto your website.

My Firefox opens in a media player how can i fix this?

I downloaded K-Lite Codec Pack and it made most of my files on my computer to open in a media player and it also changed my firefox to open in it also how can i fix it?

Sounds that that installer has grabbed a lot of file extensions and made them open in a media player.
You can try to uninstall this codec pack to see if that reverts those associations to their previous action.
Otherwise you can try to right-click a file with a changed association and use open with to change the current association to the previous program that handled it.

Satellite C50-A-15L: unable to play music or video files via media player

Hi all
I am having problems with my media player and explorer functions all of a sudden - it seems to have occured after a recent 'important update' (always causes more issues than fixes).
Anyway, since this update, I have been unable to play any music or video files via the media player or cut and paste any items when sorting files out.
All fine previously, but now when I highlight and click 'cut', the timer cuts in and the window goes straight to 'not responding'. Drag and drop works OK, then going back to delete files.
As for media files, double click one and no response, right click and 'open', again, nothing...
Anyone else experienced similar problems?

From my point of few you have no problems with notebook but with Microsoft system.
"Hotmail" isnt Toshiba product.
If you have problems login the Hotmail account, you should contact the Microsoft support for help.
By the way: you can always set the system back to early time point before you received any updates.
Windows 8 creates a restore point for you automatically during Windows Updates and other system maintenance events.
Open charm bar (Win key + c), choose Apps and search for Restore Point. Then click on Settings. On the left hand side you will see the option called Create a restore point.
New window would open. Within the System Protection tab choose System restore.
Clicking on Next would lead to next step where you could restore the computer to the sate it was before the selected event (windows update).

I am trying to share a file between my macbook air and my media player Kaiboer K670.
The issue I have it's this :
- When I find my macbook air on the media player, it ask me for a login and password that I cant find.......i tried my usual login name and password when I log into my macbook air but nothing is happening.....can someone help ?

well as far as i can see, media sharing is enabled, i can't see anything else that wouls stop it other than the network discovery function does not seem to stay on, according to the pages above it needs to be on to allow other computers to see it and vica versa? heeeeelp aaaaaagh

Play Vodcast in Windows Media Player format on Apple TV

I would like to view a video podcast (can only play on RealPlayer or Windows Media Player) on my Apple TV and iMac. How can I make this work?

Yeah, try Flip4Mac. If you want, post a link to the vodcast and we can see if it plays thru F4M, but it probably will. F4M is the way to view WMV content on a Mac now....WM Player is no longer supported by Microsoft for Mac's.

Amarok can't copy ogg files to media player

I just recently thought I could as well use Amarok to copy my music files to my Samsung YP-U1.
Well it did work great for my mp3 files, it did not work for my ogg files, complaining my Samsung YP-U1 not able to play them (well, sure it can). So I ended up copying with manual tools.
Now my question is, does anybody else experiences this ? Anyone knows a solution ? Is this Amarok's fault or hal ?
Well if it's Amarok's fault I may better ask for a solution on their mailinglist

Maybe I yuo not understood, but I recommendate use command media-beep-player (pacman -S bmp) or XMMS player (command xmms).

How to play multiple files in media player

Hello,
Whenever I select multiple files (video and/or MP3) to be played with QuickTime, a different window is opened for each file.
Is there a way or another player where the files selected to be played consecutively are all opened and listed in one window and played consecutively?

Have you tried creating a playlist with them in iTunes?
I see compatible movies from my Movies folder in the Movies section under Library in iTunes.
When a playlist is created for selected movies, they play sequentially in iTunes. It plays MP3s too .
