Firefox does not appear in 'set program defaults panel in Win 7', running firefox 4.1

In Win 7 Pro (up to date) Associate protocol with a default program, Firefox is not an option, only IE.

Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced Section: General Tab. On the bottom there is System Defaults. Click Check Now to see if Firefox is the default browser. Click Yes on the pop up window.
Firefox is now back in the list for default programs and it your default browser again.

Acrobat 9 Professional Does not Appear in the Programs list

One of our users does have Acrobat installed, and can open and use it. However, the shortcut that is in his start menu brings up the Installer. Acrobat does not appear in the installed prograns list in Programs and Features (WIN7). I don't see an Adobe group in the start menu, or when searching the task-bar. the Desktop shortcut links to the correct folder/acrobat.exe.
Any reason why this program would NOT show up as having been installed, when it very clearly IS installed and working correctly?
(Also, not sure if I'm in the right 'community', please redirect me if i'm in error.)

Please try repairing Acrobat from the 'Help' menu and check.
Also check if Acrobat has been updated to the latest patch i.e. v9.5.5

Background does not appear when set.

Hi,
My backgrounds do not appear when I set them.
Product name: HP 1000 1408AU
I have a photo on my desktop which i would like to be et as my background image and when i right click and select 'set as background image' it does not appear, the background just stays at blank. However when i tap the windows symbol on the keyboard (which takes us to the tiles) the desktop tile has my background image i selected. But when i click the desktop tile it does not come up.
This issue has been happening for at least 3 months.
Also when i go into the control panel, and then under the 'Appearance and Personalization' label, there is the 'Change destop background'. When i click this and select my image, and then click save changes it does not appear.
Also under the same 'Appearance and Personalization' label, when i click the 'change the theme' button, it says the image i selected is set to my desktop background, but it isnt. The background on my desktop is still blank. (blank black).
Could someone please help me with this issue?

"Disks" option does not appear in setting dropdown.

Hi All,
I've plugged a formatted (bootable) external hard drive into an Airport Express 802.11g router, however cannot access it from my machine (macbook with os x 10.5.2). In the Airport Utility, the "Disks" and "Music" options in the "Settings" dropdown menu are greyed out and cannot be selected while the other options are available; I can print over the network just fine. I've rebooted the HD, my machine and the AE a number of times to no avail.
This might be a trivial problem, but other people seem to have had the same issue but every time I've seen this question asked there are no responses. Hopefully someone out there will have a hint I can use!

The USB port on the round 802.11b/g AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) does NOT support USB hard drives. It ONLY supports a single compatible USB printer.

Firefox does not appear in "all programs"

In my all programs list firefox is not there? I can find it by going into "computer" and looking for it there.
When I setup the install, I checked off "add ff to Start menu and task bar, neither of these occured.
There is no option to start ff in safe-mode.

Do you have the Default Tab extension?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Try right clicking on a PDF and select the open with to set Acrobat as the default.

I have just upgraded to FF 4.0.1 and am developing a silverlight app that requires the windowless parameter to be set to true. I have seen a similar problem reported by MAC OSX users but my system is Windows 7/64bit.
As suggested elsewhere if I run in full screen mode or set windowless=false then all is well. (windowless=true is required for some functionality though!)

Thanks very much for the help - it was enough for me think more about it and solve the problem.
To answer mv's question, I did previously try the nocache on the default object and it didn't work either (but I will explain the reason below). I knew the file was cached, by seeing the old file in the browser even when refreshed and when checking the access log, the returned byte size was the same as the old file.
elving's comments indirectly led me to the problem, and I'm embarrassed to say it was actually an application error. We're using virtual web servers, and I had been modifing the correct obj.conf file (confirmed by server.xml) - the problem was that the application setting was pointing to the same physical server, but using a different hostname - d'oh!
So in other words, I was updated the conf file correctly for virtual server aaa.com, but the app was set to bbb.com (same physical machine), so the same file was being retrieved but my nocache directives for aaa.com we're being ignored.
Anyway, thanks again everyone for their help - much appreciated!!

When downloading uptodate software the icloud icon does not appear

trying to setup icloud on imac. i already have it on macbook and iphone. when load up to date software the icloud icon does not appear in setting.

ITunes Does Not Appear in the List of Default Programs?

My wife is trying to get iTunes to be her default media player, using the instructions found at this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3202.
However, when she goes to the list of default programs, following steps 1 and 2 at that link, iTunes does not appear in the list.
How can we correct this?

I was having this same problem. I understood how to change the default program but like yours my iTunes was not in the list so therefore I was unable to set it to default.
This worked for me: (I have Vista)
I checked for updates on my iTunes program and there was an overdue update. I installed and restarted iTunes. Then went to my Default Programs tab and followed the instructions just as described in the support material and after my installation of the newest update my iTunes was now listed in the lineup of available default programs.

I wish to unistall Firefox so I can make a clean install to get rid of all the Yahoo tabs, but Mozilla Firefox does not appear in the list of programs in Window

I have tried the suggestions posted in mozilla support for removing Yahoo from the new tab and the default search, but I have not been successful. So, I thought I would uninstall Firefox from my computer and make a clean install. However Mozilla Firefox does not appear as one of my Currently installed programs in Control Panel\ Add or Remove Programs, and C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe does not open or run. I fear I may have been the victim of some ?Yahoo malware. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Yahoo toolbar appeared without my consent. Can't get rid of it. Does not appear in list of add-ons or in list of programs installed for uninstall. (Win7; FFx5) Please help me delete this annoyance.)

I was prompted to update Java. I got a YAHOO toolbar which I did and do not want. I can't get rid of it. It does not appear on the Add-on list, not in the programs list (to uninstall). Can't find anything with Yahoo in the name. I do not want to use View, because it keeps coming back into view without my consent -- I want it gone permanently.
The uninstall directions in Yahoo help call for click on pencil tool (which tool is not found on this toolbar). Firefox instructions say go to Add-on list, but the Yahoo bar is not there. There are several Java add-ons, but I don't know what they are and what happens if they are uninstalled.

Perhaps it is disguised as something else. If so please tell me what to uninstall.

Try RIGHT clicking on different areas of the toolbars on Firefox, mainly try right clicking on/around the url bar & forward/back navigation buttons. When you get the correct spot if will give you a menu with the toolbars available (whether or not they're active) and a couple other options. Just uncheck the Yahoo one & you should be all set.
As you say though it may be some other bar disguised as a yahoo bar. Any chance you can get a screen shot of it & post it here?

Firefox runs in background (appear in Task Manager Processes Tab) only and does not appear on Desktop

I have been using Firefox on my Desktop PC with Windows XP for a long time. However, today possibly due to some virus (I attached an infected flash drive to my PC) a suspicious change in homepage (www.delta-homes.com) of my firefox occurred. Simultaneously an error message of "WinZip" appeared on screen. I figured that there must be some software in "C:\Program Files\" which is also causing problem to my firefox. I opened Program Files and removed that folder named WinZip. (Tried to uninstall it but it won't happen so I had to use "Unlocker" to kill processes this folder was associated with and then deleted the folder.)
From that point onward, My FireFox started to behave weird. Whenever I click on Firefox icon or access firefox.exe from any source (start menu, quick launch, program files, Run Command), it starts but appears only in "Task Manager Processes Tab". In that Processes Tab, firefox.exe is continuously using 50% of CPU but it does not appear on Desktop at all.
To go a step further, I uninstalled firefox and tried to re-download from Firefox official website but the download fails in the start saying "Download is interrupted". (See attached Image). So I downloaded a previous version of Firefox (v 34.0) from www.filehippo.com and installed it but the same problem is happening with this version too.
I am confused and surprised what might be causing this problem. Everything else on PC running fine. Kindly help me restore my Firefox so that I may not lose any precious Bookmarks, Settings and other Data. thanks

After installing FF 6.02 on Windows 7, the icon does not appear on the desktop and the program does not appear in the All Programs menu

I just received a new laptop running windows 7 home premium and wanted to install Firefox on it. I tried to install the most recent version. When i installed 6.0.2, the icon did not appear on my desktop (it was a hidden file in my desktop folder) and the program group does not appear in the start menu's All Programs list. The program *does* run though, at least it did a few times. This happened whether i installed as administrator or not. Installing firefox 3.6.22, though, DID create the program group and desktop icon, and upgrading from there removed them again. installing other programs (e.g. vlc, trillian, etc.) did not cause this behavior. I also tried this both with and without McAfee's realtime protection running.

Some people have found that an app (usually iBooks for some reason) hasn't appeared on a homescreen until after the iPad has been reset and has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Also depending on what the app is have you got an age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

The password save prompt box does not appear on logging in to certain password protected webpages; is there another way of adding their passwords to Firefox sync?

With webpages such as <https://shop.avanquest.com/members/?company_rs=51>, PayPal and Windows Live e.g. after correct login details are entered into the online form and login is performed successfully. The "key" symbol does not appear to the left of the "awesome bar", neither does the password save pop up box and so the login details for the site cannot be saved in Firefox sync.
This is not specific to https secure sites, as I have been able to save the passwords for several https secure sites and conversely, I have been unable to save the passwords for some http non secure URLs. I have ensured that, whilst trying to enter a page or site into Firefox sync, it has the only tab open.
There does not seem to be a way of manually entering website details (URL, User Name, Password etc.) into Firefox Sync; how can I save the password details for such sites?

Hello. Since my last firefox update, I have been unable to type an email - the box within which one would usually type does not appear when I press 'reply' to a received email, or press 'compose'. My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
