Firefox does not support weblinks in a pdf

  • I tried to paste text from another site into my Firebox document, but it says "Firefox does not support Copy & Paste". How do I enable clipboard? I never had problems like this on Firefox before...why?

I tried to paste text I copied from another site into my Notepad++ (as I've always done in the past with no problem).
But today for the 1st time, I got a message when I tried to paste the text "Firefox does not support Copy & Paste". What?
    What happened to the clipboard?

That's a security feature in Firefox.
Use this extension to add the necessary permissions to Firefox - Allow Clipboard Helper: <br />

  • Windows Live ID says Firefox does not support JavaScript (it is enabled) or doesn't allow scripts (?)

Windows Live ID says JavaScript is required to sign in (to Hotmail). It says Firefox does not support JavaScript (under content, the enable JavaScript box is checked) or scripts are being blocked (how?). How can this be addressed?

Your system info included ''no script'', is that active and blocking things ?
You could consider temporarily disabling ''no script'' by using
    * Firefox button -> Add-ons -> | Extensions| ... [disable]
As a more general note it is worth trying firefox's [[safe mode]] and also using the default theme, and disabling any plugins.

  • When downloading Firfox 4.0 on my mac, it downloads with a large circle on the app that look like a no smoking icon. When I drag the icon to app folder and launch it tell me Firefox does not support my system. Help

When downloading Firefox it ha an icon when launched on my desktop to drag to app folder. The Firefox icon has a "No Smoking"
universal Symbol. The symbol is a white circle with a line going diagnol thru the firfox icon. As in, "Not allowed".
Need to know why firefox will not work on my mac.

I have the same problem. I'm guessing that you get the same error message that Firefox is not compatible with your system's architecture? Information that would have been extremely useful before replacing functional software with useless trash.

  • Browsing extensions/themes includes those my level of Firefox does not support.

When I search for extensions and themes I get a plethora of them most of which are not applicable to my level of Firefox/Thunderbird. What can I do to get a list of only those extension and themes that are applicable. If there is no way how can I make a suggestion for an improvement.

I had to go one step further. I had to go to the bottom for the search result and click on "see all xxx results". The filters you mention are then on the upper left. When I just click on the folder/green arrow on the left after the search I go back to the beginning. So that brings up the question "why isn't the filter on every page from the very beginning". It seems to me that the filters are a bit too hidden. (by the by, Apple OS X 10.6.8, Firefox 9.0.1, if that makes any difference).

  • Firefox mac osx version does not support mac-Lion os full screen window mode. When will you bring this?

In macbook pro with lion os apple gives a full-screen-mode icon in the top right corner of the window, which will be used to open that view in different window. But firefox does not support this. Even chrome supports it.
When will you bring this feature to firefox?. Currently I am in firefox 8.0.1

No answers, but Mozilla is aware of the new release of Lion, and hopefully are working on solving some of the known issues. There are some rather formal technical discussions and reports, as mentioned in this contributors thread: [/forums/contributors/707160]

  • IMac PC does not support latest Adobe FP/can't watch Youtube/Only solution=new computer??

I can no longer watch You Tube because the latest version of Adobe Flash Player
will not download to a PPC. I run Tiger 10.4.11 (I know that's ancient but it works
very well!) Does this mean the only way to view You Tube would be to buy a new
computer? Everything runs perfectly except You Tube. I've never been a big fan of the site
I still would like to have access to it but buying a new computer to get one site seems
like a bridge too far. I have Adobe flash Player and but not the latest version.
This problem only happened recently which seems strange. I even have a
couple of videos on the site and have access to my account. I can get the site and my account but
first the sound stopped playing a month or two ago but the videos still played. Now the videos
don't play at all. From what I've heard, only a computer with Intel can accept the latest version of
    Adobe. Any thoughts or tips??

It will work on a PPC Mac running Leopard, but not Tiger:
I am in the same boat. I run a G5 PPC iMac and I cannot watch flash videos on the BBC website or on BBC iPlayer, and it struggles on YouTube.
For reasons that passeth all understanding, they all work with the PPC version of Firefox, called TenFourFoxG5.app, once you have enabled plug-ins, as it does not natively support Flash.
You can download TenFourFoxG5 from here:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Now for the interesting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported
    But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
    Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
I am using Flash 11.5.502.55 in TenFourFox and it works just fine. Here is how to get a working version of Flash Player:
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Adobe Reader plugin :This sentence "le fichier ne commence pas par '%PDF-'" appears when I try to open some (not all) PDF files within Firefox (does not happen when I download the file)

This sentence (in french version) "le fichier ne commence pas par '%PDF-'" appears when I try to open some (not all, mainly bigger than 1Mo) PDF files within Firefox (does not happen when I download the file)

You mention Thunderbird, has the PDF file been emailed to you? If it has this support page from Adobe may help - http://www.adobe.com/fr/support/toptech/acrobat/319294/

Hi... I would like to purchase a Tablet Sony Xperia Z 2 10.1 (the last one of the Z series) and I was told that Adobe does not support Sony anymore.... I need to be able to open and read Adobe PDF files and I would like to know if this tablet can still use Flash Player...
Is there anyo who can help me with this? I asked in the shop and I was told "yes of course" , but when I contacted Sony directly I was advised to check with Adobe as apparently in the recent months Adobe and Sony haven't been getting along anymore...

You may be mixing up two entirely different Adobe products.
    1. Adobe Flash Player. Needed to view web pages designed with Flash. Not needed to view PDF files. Not available for Android (not just Sony).
    2. Adobe Reader. Reads PDF files. However, the Android can also read most PDF files without needing Adobe Reader.

  • Preview does not support PDF features

I have generated a number of PDF files in Adobe Acrobat that are questionnaires. The intent is to have the users fill out forms, click radio buttons and check boxes within the PDF and using buttons embedded on the questionnaire email them back to me. I have run into many problems with my questionnaires by Mac OSX users. It turns out when they open my Questionnaire (PDF) Preview launches instead of Adobe Reader. Evidentially Preview is the default application for PDFs. Preview does not support "calculations" "actions" for buttons including "submit a form" and does not auto font size in the forms they fill out.
Is there something in Preview that causes this issue that preview users need to do? It clearly appears Preview is not a good substitute for Abode Reader that is free and the standard for PDF viewing.

    Bobbbo wrote:
The issue I have run into is that Adobe has generated a way that you can distribute forms to a large group of people, they can in return send back the data that they filled out. Acrobat can then tabulate the data automatically. It is a very powerful tool.
I don't doubt it. However, it is a purely Acrobat solution. I'm sure there is other software that can do the same thing. Have you considered a web site instead? You could build an HTML page to distribute to people and it would have all the same features. Plus, it would work with any web browser.
The problem I have is Apple has decided to make Preview their default PDF reader application. When a Mac users opens the PDF file things may not work and they do not understand why. They get frustrated and quit filling out the form, therefore locking out getting data from all Mac users. This is an unnecessary burden to put on Mac users!
Then why don't you pick a method that would work with a stock MacOS X machine?
Adobe Reader is free so why compete with a free application??
Adobe Reader is free for end users to download. If Apple included it as part of MacOS X, the would have to pay Adobe many millions of dollars. Furthermore, while Acrobat Reader does have many nice features, it is a slow, bloated behemoth that fewer and fewer people want to use anymore. That is why there are so many other PDF viewers these days - people don't like Acrobat Reader.
I just think they should not have a fully functional PDF reader as the default application for PDFs.
Preview is fully functional. But Apple can't read Adobe's mind and support every new feature that Adobe throws in to try to keep customers. Your PDF solution is an Adobe solution. Adobe software just isn't as ubiquitous as it used to be. Times change. I suggest you look into some other method of form distribution, such as HTML and Javascript.

  • Firefox 4 does not support AVG Safesearch but IE9 does!!! Why?

I decided to install Firefox 4 but it does not support AVG safe search or it's very useful link scanner, so for safer browsing I have reverted back to version 3.6.16.
However Internet explorer 9 from MS supports AVG! I accept that AVG ought to release a new version, but why can Microsoft continue support in their completely re-vamped browser and Mozilla cannot, since all my other add-ons were still compatible?
    For reference I am running on Win7 home premium Sp1 64bit, AMD Phenom IIX4 N930 CPU @2.0Ghz , 4GB DDR3 Ram and an ATi HD5470 512MB Graphics Card.
In conclusion, it would be fantastic to see Mozilla tweak the settings (if possible) to allow AVG safe search to work with Firefox 4, Until then I will go on using 3.6 and IE9 from Microsoft.

Close Firefox 4. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG10\Firefox and open install.rdf in Notepad. Change 3.6.* to 4.0.* exit and save. Done.
