Firefox does not Sync my bookmarks from my PC to my Android Phone (Zombie problem is back again!!!)

Hi,
I'm using Firefox 18.0.2 on my several PC's and synch works fine between them.
But on my Smasung Note 2 (Android 4.1.2) Firefox could never synched bookmarks from PC. However opened tabs seems to be synchronized from PC to my mobile phone. But none of mbookmay PC rks seems on my Phone. I got no error message after synch operation on my android phone. But no bookmarks synchronized.
All options including Bookmarks selected under what to synch menu. I also tried only to select bookmarks, but helped.
I'm waiting this feature to work during a few months, through different firefox PC and android releases, now as a final hope I'm contacting with you.
My synch usename is [email protected] and I'm using default Firefox server.
I'm sure there is a bug blocking my bookmarks to be synched to my Android Phone , I really want to help Firefox devs to fix these bug.
Regards....

Having the same problem. Uninstall and reinstall did not help. Is there any progress on this? I'm using the latest android OS, and sync is working just fine on my other devices. The android phone is syncing my tabs but not my bookmarks.

  • ICloud not syncing IE bookmarks from PC

iCloud not syncing IE bookmarks from PC
I don't even use IE but since the Firefox app won't open the bookmarks in Safari, I thought I'd just copy my Firefox bookmarks to IE, then use the cloud sync.  (I am syncing and backing up to iCloud, and not my PC)
I did this all last night: backed up and then synced to iCloud  Another thread  suggested that you shut down IE so I did that. Someone else had suggested on a different thread that un-checking and re-checking the Bookmark check box in the iCloud Control panel would trigger a re-sync...did that all last night in hopes it would sync and it didn't.
I manually deleted everything in the Safari bookmarks in the Phone that it would allow, but now strangely enough in addition to the "Reading List" and "history" folders, I have TWO "Bookmarks Bar" folders with identical contents.
So I'm trying to be patient and thought maybe it takes some time for it to re-sync so I left iTunes up and running on the PC overnight...as usual....so I tried again this evening. I still have my old bookmarks on the iPhone (4S), and they've never pulled in.
    Thoughts?

Gee, I don't know what to tell you....I can open IE, add a folder, resync my iPhone to the iCloud, and the new folder appears. I even tried it while leaving IE open (I had read on another thread that closing it might help, but it had no adverse impact on my ability to sync).
Well, all I can suggest is to give Safari a try, or use the Firefox app (unfortunately it's a multi-step process to open a link through Safari, but that might not bother you)
Or, just run through these checkpoints one more time to make sure nothing is missed.
Are you running Windows 7 or later, and have you downloaded the iCloud Control panel for Windows?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455
Do you have Bookmarks turned on in iCloud settings on your iOS device?
You may have done exactly this, but if not, give this a try (and may help others in the future)
Deselect Bookmark syncing in the iCloud control panel     on your PC.
Deselect iCloud Bookmarks on your iOS device. It should     then prompt you to take action with the previously synced bookmarks on     your device. Choose "Delete from my iPhone (or whatever delete option     it gives you).
Sync manually to the cloud through your iOS device. You should have no bookmarks on your device.
    Now turn everything back on...
In the iCloud control panel, re-select     Bookmarks/Internet Explorer
on your iOS device, re-enable iCloud Bookmark Syncing
Now manually back up your iOS device to iCloud

  • Firefox does not sync

    Hi,
I've set up my own sync server and runs very well. I am able to sync
between the desktop versions of Firefox without any issues.
When I try to login to an existing sync account from my Android device
(Relase and the beta version), after entering the user name, password,
key and URL ( https://my.url.com/mozsync/ ), Firefox complains with this
    error message:
    "Please enter valid server URL"
I don't use any self signed certificates and I don't get any certificate
warning when I connect to other services running on this host.
It looks like, that the Firefox Android browser isn't doing anything, because I don't see log on the sync server.

The URL I've entered is correct, including the leading https:// . The server runs on the standard https port 443 and I'm using official ssl certificates.
I have to say, that the sync server does not run on the webserver root. The URL in my case is something like https://my.domain.com/mozsync/ .
As mentioned, the desktop Browser syncs perfectly.

  • Firefox does not handle large bookmark "files" gracefully, it HANGS

Essentially large #'s ( massive ) cause Firefox to go off the deep end and never shut down in any reasonable time. I tried backups in JSON and HTML, files produced took ~2-3 days, 50mbyte and ~90mbytes each. Essentially when you exceed past some indeterminate bookmarks "size" Firefox never gracefully in some useful time frame shut down, folks here have said when firefox is attempted shutdown and if it does not, then go to task manager and shut the Firefox process. THat is less desireable. Question is when firefox closes, ( request to shutdown ) is it trying to do a whole host of task cleaning ./ bookmarks backup? I tried cutting back my books marks slightly, now FF can be closed without Taskmanager shutdown, but now none of my addons ( that I disabled and deleted some ) none seem to restart ( Firefox seems to thrash CPU utilization from near zero, to ~100% via trying to restart NoScript, and pounds away for many minutes, until I say this is not good ).
I have Vista Business 32, configured to work well latest FF 26.0.
Chrome ( SR Ironware Iron browser ) that I have zero bookmarks runs fine, I need FF to work reconfigured without a reinstall due to all the passwords I have loaded into the FF over time.
GIven that a minor ?10-20% reduction in Bookmarks that took me a few hours to do, returns the ability to not have to go to taskmanager to brutally shut the FF task when an exit from FF does not remove it and it s large memory footprint, and now mostly does, with minor reduction of a massive bookmarks set, this is weird. FF never exceeds my win 32 memory, largest footprint I had I think was ~1gb in memory from lots of web pages.
But presently I cannot seem to restart Noscript... which is troubling

I am not a software engineer, merely a user, I am not asking for help for me to personally fix what is a fundamentally a product software problem.
I'd also point out that in addition to Hanging in backups, 3 days actually of FF running the bookmarks backup that produced 50mb JSON file and 90 mb HTML backup file, after 1/2 day respite of actually being able to have firefox close on user exiting after i completed the backup and reduced bookmarks slightly ( ~10% deleted ), now it is back to its usual self, taking forever to shut down, looking like a memory hog monster with >0.5 GB ram footprint, and often grows upon exit that the program persists in Task Manager Process List ad nauseum, till a manual task manager forced shutdown.
A user ( not a software coder ) should not have to twiddle with arcane settings buried in some obscure file undocumented, to avoid having a program hog their machine for 3 days just to backup Bookmarks manually ( meaning the code in the bookmarks backup procedure is coded rather inefficiently when scaled to large # of bookmarks ),
and I suspect FF shutdown internal procedure similarly does some rather inefficient logging to needlessly find grained writing to files on disk upon request by user to EXIT ( hopefully shut in reasonable time to free the dual core CPUs from ?50-100% utilization for days to backup / save stuff I could care not enough to wait for days for backup completion.
If RAM was used to assemble the backup in memory entirely, then to enable doing a small series of long serial block writes to disk, I suspect this all might go smoother than what appear to be a huge series of small writes to the disk as present it seems.
Possibly less sensible at present, and I can tell this by watching the disk activity light slowly flashing and Task Manager CPU activity spiking 100% and dropping regularly ( at high frequency ) for hours or days in the case of manual backup.
Load ALL the data to RAM instead and do one large sequential write ( sort of obvious for performance of the code and avoiding days to backup bookmarks ? ) There is plenty of room to load the JSON or HTML directly all to ram, and massage, and dump in one long faster sequential write to disk? Or am I missing something?
The justifications explained are almost silly, as I merely want to use FF, not make a career of learning undocumented buried feature settings. I have better things to do with my time, and I will remark the issues I describe might not be unique to FF's browser, it might also be common on other broswers ( I do not know, but I will be gracious enough to say so ).
Granted the program is free, but memory and task management efficiency is mediocre for truly heavy users. I read a lot and have sometimes 100 tabs open, the manner this is handled with FF sometimes brings a dual core CPU in Win Vista ( optimized via reg settings recommended in deeper articles about VIsta to be more XP like in operation ) to its knees.
This reminds me of the creeping featurization of GMAIL where originally GMAIL was fast and efficient, impressively so, FF might not properly vet ADDONS for good memory and shut down behavior and might consider doing so, to block those which affect stable operation, from being downloaded, as might actually testing / validating the safety & security & privacy of some addons ( rather than presently leaving to unsophisticated users to do so haphazardly ).
    just some obvious observations.
It should not take common users to fiddle with undocumented obscure features ( hidden settings in undocumented files ) to make a quality product ( FF is good ) run properly. There is something to think about here.

  • Not syncing Safari bookmarks from ipad

i have some bookmarks on my iPad tthat I want to sync to my Mac so I can then sync them to my iPhone. I have sync Safari bookmarks turned on iTunes but they don't sync To the Mac.
i Must be doing something wrong but I don't know what. I tried searching Apple support And these forums but couldn't find anything.
does anyone have any advice on this

    Hi needleman_mark,
    Happy Holidays!
The best way to keep your bookmarks synced between your iPad, iPhone and Mac is to use iCloud.  Check your iCloud settings on all three devices and make sure Safari is turned on.  Click on the link below for complete details.  I've highlighted some of the key information for you:
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Bookmarks and Reading List - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203519
    Troubleshooting on iOS
First, confirm that you’ve turned on iCloud Bookmarks:
On iOS 6 or iOS 7, go to Settings > iCloud and check that Safari is turned on.
On iOS 5, go to Settings > iCloud and check that Bookmarks is turned on.
Next, try each of these steps, testing after each step to see if the issue is resolved:
Try installing the latest version of iOS supported by your device.
Go to Settings > iCloud and make sure you are signed in to the same iCloud account that you are using on your other supported devices.
Make sure that your iOS device is online by attempting to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Bookmarks and Reading List will not update in the Safari app. If necessary, review the instructions for troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Troubleshooting on OS X Lion or later
First, confirm that you've turned on iCloud bookmarks:
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the icon for iCloud.
Make sure that the checkbox labeled Safari (or Bookmarks) is selected.
Next, try each of these steps, testing after each step to see if the issue is resolved:
Make sure that you are using OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later. If necessary, review the steps for finding your OS X version information.
Make sure that your computer is online by attempting to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Bookmarks and Reading List will not update in Safari. If necessary, review the instructions for troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Wishing you all the best this Holiday season!

  • New computer with 7.01 firefox does not show previous bookmarks tho all other files restored with my ClickFree backup. Found the profile but cant open places.sqlite

safely transferred all my saved files from old dead Vista to new computer with Windows 7 except for my firefox 7.01 bookmarks & QuickNote add on. i downloaded QuickNote but it is blank too. Found the profile C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\8oy034hg.default & places.sqlite but cant open the file.Windows ask what program I want to open the places.sqlite file & i said Firefox but it doesnt open. How do I open the file & get my bookmarks & QuickNote back. help pls

Why not install and try Firefox portable, it may well be a good troubleshooting step. Try running it from an external memory stick.
    The threads you referred to
    * [/questions/956861] was closed but never solved
    *[/questions/958824] similar
    Some system information would help
*How much RAM is installed ?
*What is the total size of the Hard Disk Drive ?
*What is the current amount of free-space in GB ? and as a percentage ?
I try not to use Windows but certainly at one stage a rule of thumb was 20-25% free space should be available. Under about 12% defragging of a disk would likely fail. A page file would need to be larger than the amount of RAM maybe 1.5X , and a hibernate file would be the size of the RAM.
    * Do not Hibernate if you are low on HDD space.
I suggest you proceed as follows
#Answer the above questions. I worry you have a lack of diskspace.
#Do a full scan with multiple and up-to-date anti-malware tools. Do not rely on Avast alone. No tool picks up everything. Report back what you scanned with and what was found.
#Backup and keep whatever profiles may be good or may contain recent information such as passwords and bookmarks, but do not use them yet.
#Download a new installer then Do a clean reinstall of Firefox, ensuring that the program folders are deleted before you re-install.
#Now restart, you expect the first restart to work. Close down and try again does it now work OK ?
The detailed instructions in the thread you read [/questions/958824#answer-436552] should help you.
If you have continuing problems is this after a restart of Firefox, or a restart of the Windows Operating System ?

  • Firefox does not save my tabs or sessions when I shut down my computer

    To be more clear:
Yes, I have set my options to "show windows and tabs from last time".
No, I did not check "clear memory on shut down" or "start private session"
Also, it saves my tabs when I restart the browser, but when I shut down my computer and start up again, Firefox does not show my tabs from last time. The same thing happens with sites I've logged onto before; it logs me out after I shut down my computer.

Did you check the "Clear Recent History" settings to be sure cthat you do not clear the Browser history and the cookies?

  • Firefox does not print. I AM DONE USING FIREFOX UNTIL THEY FIX PRINTING PROBLEMS ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Firefox does not print. Mozilla doesn't seem to care to fix this problem, ignoring the numerous customer requests and pleadings for help. At this point, I AM DONE USING FIREFOX UNTIL THEY FIX PRINTING ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

I honestly think the OP is making the correct decision to quit using Firefox due to all the print-related problems and Bugs that are in Firefox, '''that Mozilla doesn't want to fix'''. And there are more Bugs that affect only the Mac-platform (like the one where the user has to open a page in a new window for the 2nd web page printed from that window), than there are on Windows and Linux.
Users having to reset hidden preferences repeatedly isn't a cure.
The same 3 print-related Bugs in 2002 that caused me to take 6 months to switch over to ''Phoenix'' from IE 5.5, '''are still present in Firefox!''' I print nothing from Firefox these days without viewing Print Preview first, then about 10% of the time I do a "View in Opera" and do a Print Preview there - which shows a good print out 95% of the time (which IMO shows the page isn't at fault), and print it from Opera.
