Firefox doesn't block chrome pop-up in macbook pro

In my new Macbook pro firefox does not block the chrome pop-up advertisement on the google.com.au page.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== When I moved from a windows laptop to a Mac one.

The malware software suggested in the previous reply is for windows only not for Macs. My problem is the chrome pop-up advert in google.com.au is NOT being blocked by firefox. I have no such problem with my windows computer!

There seems to be a few bugs with iCloud Mail at times, so send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How to install Google's chrome browser safely on MacBook Pro-retina?

Hello, I've arrived to a crossway which I need (don't want to) install Google's chrome browser or Firefox on my MacBook Pro.
Yes, I don't want to, I hate it running on a Mac.
I know it's the best browsing experience in a 'Chromebook', but in "Rome be a roman",
After using this amount of money to buy the finest MacBook Pro out there, from some reasons,
I don't want to install it. I want Safari to be able to run every site, even the main site of my university.
That's what I expect from Apple.inc. that everything will work!
I mean, how Chrome and Firefox and even Microsoft's IE, supporting and running those uni. sites, and Safari - DOES NOT ?
(In case that you want to know about which sites I'm brabbling about,
here is one for example: http://new.huji.ac.il/en there are section that just don't work via safari.)
    In addition,
I'd like to know, since I didn't find a good solution, what are the right ways to install Chrome on a MacBook Pro-R,
and to control all the files (EVERYTHING) that are related to it,  so I'd know where to find them after I use it. (additional same information for using firefox the same way will be more than welcome).
    Thank you,
    Jacob.

  • Blocking iMessage and FaceTime from macbook pro

    i just installed yosemite.
    1) is there a way to COMPLETELY BLOCK iMessages from my iPhone from ever showing up on my macbook pro?
i noticed that when i go into iMessage preferences on my macbook pro that in settings i was able to turn off my cell phone number (?and email account) so that messages would never pop up on my iMac. but i also noticed that under accounts, "blocked" it LISTS the names and phone numbers of people i have blocked! is there some way to make sure this NEVER shows up on my macbook pro?
when i "deleted" some of the blocked names in accounts of iMessage on my macbook pro, and then looked on my phone, i noticed they were no longer blocked. so i blocked a particular individual again via my phone, and it showed up in my iMessage as blocked on my macbook pro.
is there a way to just remove or completely hide iMessage on my macbook pro? can i also remove it from the ?toolbar at the bottom of the computer?
    2) same thing with FaceTime. i never use it on my iPhone (have it turned off on my iPhone), and have it turned off on my macbook via preferences. but is there also a way to remove it or hide it on my macbook pro, so that it never shows up? also remove it from ?toolbar at bottom of macbook?
(interestingly, as i typed this, i noticed the iMessage icon disappeared from my ?toolbar at the bottom of the macbook pro. was that because i hit the "hide iMessage" under preferences on my macbook?)
    thank you for your help,
    a-

Sign out of Messages by going to System Preferences/Internet Accounts and deselect the enable this account box. To get it out of the Dock, control - click and hold, then Options/Remove from Dock. Dock procedure is the same for FaceTime.
For FaceTime, open the application then FaceTime/Preferences, and deselect enable this account.

  • Firefox quits when closing the cover of my MacBook Pro (putting it to sleep)

Self-explanatory (see title). I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro, running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3). Whenever I close the lid to put the MacBook Pro to sleep, Firefox quits. I don't think it crashes or hangs; when I open the lid later, Firefox is just not running, and must be re-opened.
This is incredibly annoying, because I have to connect through a proxy server at work, and this results in me having to Restore Previous Session, re-authenticate, and then wait for 10-25 tabs (my To-Do list) to be reloaded. Agonizing. Help?

    Hi,
When I look at your system details, it does have a crash ID on it (bp-0bffc60f-9713-426c-b7b3-214962120301), so you might find some help in the article about crashes, where it describes starting Firefox in safe mode and then seeing if the problem still happens:

  • External screen doesn't go into standby when putting MacBook Pro into sleep

I'm using a new MacBook Pro with an external monitor (DELL P2411H) through a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter.
When putting the Macbook into sleepmode, the external screen goes into standby but immediately wakes up, then goes back into standby and wakes up ... this cycle doesn't stop. The only option is to manually push the powerbutton on the display.
I'm having this issue too when using a MacBook Pro 13", so it's not a single issue.

I got similar Problem, my external monitor will go to standby mode and then switch on immediately, and the go to sleep , and the monitor will show no signal detect

  • Distorted blocks of random color on macbook pro after 10.5.2 update

My macbook pro is going crazy after the 10.5.2 & graphic drivers update. This is the second time I have received large blocks of color completely filling both the macbook pro lcd and the samsung external monitor. Has never happened before on 10.5 or 10.5.1. While the screens are filled with garbage I can vaguely see outlines of programs etc.
I am a recent mac user, having purchased the laptop in late september 2007. Any ideas about what I can do to troubleshoot? Console shows no errors logs. When the system crashes, everything is still running and I can hear music playing but I cannot navigate my way to save all open work and have to power off.
Aside from that, sometimes when I wake the machine and open the lid it never wakes up and I have to power off. And sometimes when I reboot, it never reboots and sits on the final screen after everything has disppeared.
    Any ideas?

Disconnect all peripherals from the computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Once you reach the desktop, repair permissions.

  • Blocked plug in on my macbook pro?

How do I stop getting a blocked plug in message when on my Macbook pro with snow leopard OSX 10.6.8??????

    Hi, kimberlywalker88.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need more information regarding where and how you are receiving this message to provide a better answer.  However, its sounds like you may be receiving the plug-in error via Safari.  I would recommend taking a look at the articles below as they may help with this.

  • Audio crackle/pop with new MacBook Pro under Vista

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro (multi-touch, Penryn cpu) and have used Boot Camp to install Windows Vista on it. Vista installed fine, and then I used the Restore DVDs that came with my MBP to install the drivers. The Device Manager shows that everything is installed.
All is not well, however. Whenever sound is being output, there are random crackles or pops - sometimes there will only be one every 5 minutes or so, sometimes there are 10 of them right in a row. The only clue I can find is that the Problem Reports And Solutions application in Vista says that there is a "Compatibility issue between Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 and Windows Vista." There is no solution offered. I don't know if this problem is directly related to the audio problems, but it seems likely.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any way to fix this and stop the audio crackles?

Well after a week and a half of testing and being unsatisfied with choppy audio on my MBP I believe I may have found the answer. The cause lies in the audio API within Vista; there is a specific service (Multimedia Class Scheduler) that adjusts the priority of multimedia applications according to resources available and one of the factors that affects the prioritization is network usage.
I tried pretty much every Broadcom driver available from HP and Dell to no avail; some reduced the frequency of the pops and crackles but none of them removed it completely.
I believe the solution lies within several registry keys that control the Multimedia Class Scheduler service. Open up regedit and modify the following keys:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
Set NetworkThrottlingIndex and SystemResponsiveness to 10 each (decimal)
    and
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile\Tasks\Audio
    Set SchedulingPriority to High.
After changing these 2 keys I couldn't here any audible stutter regardless of whichever driver I used. I am currently using v1.96 for the Realtek and 4.170.77.3 for the Broadcom.

  • Firefox 4 hangs on startup on my new MacBook Pro. How do I find a version that will launch?

I have down loaded Firefox 4 five times today.
I click on the icon. It starts to come up but hangs
each time. No browser window ever appears,
but Firefox shows in the "Force Quit" window
    aass "not responding".

same for me, but restarting our computers is not really a solution for a chronic flaw. issues with plugin-container.exe, visible in Task Manager (in XP) seem to be the cause - about:config hacks claim to solve this problem, but didn't work for me, so i'm back, temporarily i hope, to FF 3.6.
otherwise, FF 4 was brilliant - so i sure hope they get this hanging-on-shutdown glitch patched asap.

  • How do I change my email account from IMAP to POP on my MacBook Pro

My email provider has changed and no longer uses Yahoo IMAP, so I need to change the email to a POP account but my MacBook automatically chooses Yahoo IMAP when I try to create a new account.  Any suggestions how I can change from IMAP to POP?

My email provider is BT and they have just moved me from BT Yahoo Mail to BT Mail.  I deleted the Yahoo email account and then used the Other Account option to input BT Mail, but unfortunately my MacBook decided that it still wanted me to use BT Yahoo.  So for several weeks I keep getting locked out of my mail and get the message box "Can't access mail' or something like that and wants me to put in the Yahoo mail password which is no longer valid.  I don't actually want to use POP (and actually have no idea what IMAP AND POP do!), but when I contacted BT support they suggested that I needed to use POP for BT Mail.  However having trawled the BT site I think what I was told was a load of rubbish.  So I suppose the real question is how to get rid of Yahoo Mail.

  • Headphone doesn't work in windows 7 at macbook pro 13 (early 2010)

I installed all drivers from bootcamp 3.1. But when I plug in headphone, there is no sound in my speaks and headphone in windows 7. But in mac os, that would be fine. And i try to reinstall and update. it still doesn't work. How to solve this problem?

I found a fix for this problem, so here it is.
    what you need
1.mac osx dvd [where all the bootcamp drivers are]
    2.7-zip software
goto the mac osx dvd, find the cirrus drivers. it should be inside drivers folder.
extract the files using 7-zip and save them on desktop
now goto device manager, and update the cirrus audio manually, when the option of have disk comes, navigate to the desktop folder where u saved the extracted drivers and select the driver file.
when windows gives a list of which drivers to install choose AB77 .
thats it then u'll be good to go after the new drivers install.
if you cannot find the [AB 77] use a disk from a 2009 macbook pro

  • My MBox 2 Mini doesn't get power or recognised by macbook pro (10.6.7)

I bought a Mack book pro 2 days ago and everything is running great accept protools le 8 won't open because the computer doesn't recognise the Mbox 2 mini. I've downloaded and installed/ uninstalled you name it... please help?

    Two more things -
When you ran Disk Utility from the Install DVD, did you check the permissions?
Also, if you have an external drive, install a fresh copy of Mac OS X to that instead (and it's handy to have a second install for stuff like this anyway).
While booted from your alternate Mac OS X disk, download the 10.6.7 combo update:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
    Yes, it's 1.12 GB!
Run the combo update against your broken Mac OS X install and it may revive it without having to deal with re-installing the OS.  Just like with the standard Mac "voodo" of repairing disk permissions, sometimes re-running the full combo updater can work magic.
    Good luck!
