Firefox doesn't completely close and an error message comes up

It wasn't until this current version 10 of Firefox, did I start to experience an issue that seemed odd.
Every time I close out of Firefox, I am assuming I'm completely out of it, but it's still running in the background. Shortly after I close Firefox (and it's still running hidden), I get an error message that pops up and it says:
''A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.''
''Script: chrome://browser/content/sanitize.js:133
At the bottom of this window it gives you two options: CONTINUE (and if you press that, Firefox stays hidden in the background, still running with plug in folders), or STOP SCRIPT (which, if you click on that, will shut down Firefox completely).
So why is this occurring now as it is totally inconvenient and something that has not occurred with previous versions of Firefox?
Thanks for listening....
Ben Herrmann
It does this on both of my computers.

After opening certain websites, pogo, firefox 4.0.1 closes with no error message. When I restore the session I get: Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

• Firefox sometimes fails to open and an error message is displayed

Sometimes, when I try to open Firefox, it shows an error message saying that the file can't be found. I have to close the dialogue box and try to open the browser again and again until it actually opens. Typically, this happens in the 2nd or 3rd try but may take longer. Also, this doesn't happen every time I try to open Firefox. Is there a problem in the installation? The program itself works completely fine when I get it to open.

You can also try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
*(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

• Updating iTunes and an error message comes up - what does it mean?

Hi all,
Sorry for asking what is probably a question which is easily answered. I was updating iTunes and I got this error message:

Can anyone tell me what it means and how I fix it?
Many Thanks

Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder, select your startup volume from the left side list, click on the First Aid tab in the DU main window then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process has completed quit DU and restart the computer.
I don't know what that extension is for, but it isn't part of iTunes or OS X. I would suggest removing it. Navigate to the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder and locate that file. Select it, CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Move to Trash from the contextual menu. You will be asked to enter your admin password. Now restart the computer.

• I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and all of a sudden they wont open and an error message comes up saying they were improperly downloaded or came in an email attach which is not the case

I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and I have used them several times and all of a sudden they wont open.  I received an error message saying they are improperly downloaded or came as an email attachement which is not the case.  Please advise

They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen.  I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF
I just created a new document response.doc in word and when I saved to my desktop it appears as a PDF file and I absolutely did not create a PDF or save as PDF it was a simple word
doc.
The message says "Adobe reader could not open response.doc because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example attached in an email and not properly decoded)
The reader version is I believe the most current, I always update when prompted.  OS is Windows 8

• I Tunes closes and gives error message

My i pod mini was working fine but now all the music has been wiped off it. When I open I Tunes it doesn't recognise the i pod and it says that there is an error and that I Tunes has to close.
Do I have a virus on my I Pod? Any help would be great!

Patrick, as far as I know, there are no known virus for Apple software.
Maybe what you need to do is upgrade to the most recent iTunes AND the most recent updater to make sure you have the most current software on your mini.
Good luck!!

• Tried to update itunes but now it wont open,an error message comes up ??

i have tried to update my itunes but now i am not able to open it and an error message comes up saying "this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found . re installing the application may fix the problem" . i dont know how to reinstall it or how to fix it help !??

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

When I launch Firefox 4.0.1 I get an error message that says "We noticed your may have signed inor signed out in another window. Click Ok to reload your page." I deleted Firefox and reloaded it - did not solve the problem. This started occurring after I downloaded Windows Service Pack 2. I have Vista 7 OS. So every time I close and relaunch Firefox, I have to sign in with my username and password. Very very, annoying. If I can't get this corrected, I have to start using another Browser. Thanks for your help. Richard

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Please give a bit more system details. Which OS and version are you on? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit. Try downloading the Creative Cloud App if not already installed from: https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud. You can choose to install PS from withing this app and need not rely on web page.

• Have upgraded to 6.0.2 on my MacBook and get error message "Server Not Found" everytime i use Firefox; however, if i then click on my Gmail or other sites from bookmark toolbar it connects. means an extra step and that never happened before

when i first click on Firefox the URL: www.27yhbnhy6tfgvrbcfre3.com shows up and the error message "Server not Found". but i can connect to any website by just clicking on a bookmark from the toolbar (or typing in a url). this never happened with previous versions of Firefox

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format"

I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format". Can someone please help me sort this problem, it's so frustrating!!!!!!

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

• HT201210 I tried to restore my iPhone 4s through iTunes and received error message that Restore could not be completed due to error 2003. Phone now not recognized in iTunes, with prompt to restore, phone w/screen with iTunes symbol and can't use.

I tried to restore my iPhone 4s through iTunes and received error message that Restore could not be completed due to error 2003. Phone now not recognized in iTunes, with repeated prompts to restore phone. Now phone w/screen with iTunes symbol and USB cord can't use. It appears the phone has been restored, but I cannot activate it.
I disabled my anti-software, iTunes and computer software (microsoft vista) are both up to date, I restarted the computer several times. My usb ports are working properly. I followed the troubleshooting suggestions from apple.

yes did you buy it of somebody or a well known company such as apple or carphone warehouse?
and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it
no worries
