Firefox doesn't detect that it is installed...?

I can't download any add-ons because it says I don't have firefox installed.
When I click 'download now' it says:
"To install this add-on and thousands more, get Firefox, a free and open web browser from Mozilla.
Learn more about Firefox
or download anyway"
If I click 'download anyway' I can't figure out how to use/open it with firefox.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 3.6 and it's still not working :(

  • Firefox doesn't detect that an update is available.

On a particular PC I am using (Windows 7), I have Firefox 34.0 installed. The About Mozilla Firefox dialog shows that I have version "34.0" installed, and indicates that "Firefox is up to date." However, on another PC, also running Windows 7, I have already been updated to version 34.0.5. So I know 34.0 is not the most recent version.
I know I can simply download and install version 34.0.5, but I'd like to know why the update feature isn't working.
Additional information: When I visit https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ I am told "Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox. " Strange.

  • Running windows XP, encountered a problem updating iTunes. Now cannot re-install it. when i try to re-install, the website acts as if nothing is wrong and will not reinstall. How do I re-install iTunes, when the website detects that it is installed?

I am running windows xp and tried to download the latest version of iTunes 11.1.4 for windows xp. Unfortunately it did not install correctly. There was a error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Runtime Error!, Program:C\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe, R6034, An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Then, when I close that box, another box appears that states: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (windows error 1114).  When I attempt to reinstall iTunes though the Apple iTunes website, nothing happens ( no reinstall) presumably because it detects that it is already installed. How do I work around this problem to reinstall iTunes?

  • Firefox doesn't detect adobe flash

I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 with Linux Mint 15 (Olivia x36-64). My Firefox is 26.0. The about page says it's Mozilla Firefox for Linux Mint - 1.0.
I have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed, but my Firefox is not recognizing it. It isn't showing up in the plugin list, so I can't even activate it.
So it's partially functioning, because I went to the Adobe website test page and it indicated that I have it and it works. But things Facebook doesn't work. Can't play games or reach it by external link on my email.
This began when I reset my Firefox the other day.
How do I get this thing functioning again?

    Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

  • Firefox doesn't detect text field on flash content in the Firefox for Android browser

Using the latest Firefox for Android from Google PlayStore as of 04/19/2013.
Installed Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.54).
Logged in with my account on www.chatango.com, which is a pure flash based site.
I can't type into the text field because the keypad doesn't popup when clicked on the field.

No, you have to click on "Login" and get in with your credentials. And then try sending someone a message. You won't be given a keypad to type with when you click on the input field. Why are you trying to do "Create A Public Group"? That wasn't what I meant when I wrote "Logged in with my account".

  • [SOLVED]Firefox doesn't detect Flash plugin on a fresh installation

I have tried the package in extra and the package from AUR, but firefox still doesn't register the flash plugin. I'm probably just missing something here..
    [tapio@Pochi flashplugin-alpha-64]$ ls /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
    libflashplayer.so
Is there something extra I have to do other than installing the package? I looked at the old wiki page for using nspluginwrapper but I couldn't see anything that looked relevant..
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Flash 9 and Firefox on 10.4.7; firefox doesn't detect the plugin.

Yea, Hi. Can anyone help me with finding out why Firefox will not display flash; firefox keeps syaing that the plugin needs to be downloaded, but I already updated to FLASH 9 a few weeks ago. And Safari plays FLASH fine.
Anyway, when i was on a page with flash Using Firefox, It allowed, me to download it (Flash), and even though I already have it, I though Id download it again, since Firefox wasnt detecting it. Anwway, Firefox wont even download the Flash, it tells me someting about "unlicensed" when I try to download the plugin.
no biggie , ill just use Safari in the meantime, but Im trying to find out whats wrong here.
    Dave

I have Flash 9 and FireFox 1.5.0.4 recognizes it and works on the sites I tested (Adobe and my own). The error message about unlicensed stuff is something I have never seen. Try to reinstall FireFox.

  • I have a Mac. Safari no longer works. Do you sell a disk with Firefox on it so that I can install it on my Mac?

    See above.

Maybe you can get the installer via ftp if you do not know somebody else that can download and save the Firefox installer for Mac to an USB stick.
You can find the full version of the current current Firefox release (37.0.2) in all languages and all operating systems here:
Open a terminal window and execute these commands.
(leave out the comments between parenthesis)
    <pre><nowiki>ftp
    open ftp.mozilla.org
    username: anonymous
password: anonymous (not echoed; so easiest is to paste anonymous in the name and the password)
    cd pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest/mac/en-US
ls (verify that you are in the correct directory)
binary (specify using binary transfer mode)
lcd ~ (save the file to the home directory;lcd ~/Desktop)
get "Firefox 37.0.2.dmg" (make sure to use the quotes and substitute the correct name as found above)
(verify that you have the "Firefox xx.0.dmg" file in the home directory)</nowiki></pre>

  • CC app doesn't acknowledge that programs are installed

I have most of the CC apps downloaded and installed, but my Creative Cloud app only thinks that I have Acrobat, Muse, Premiere, Scout, Edge and Indesign and Lightroom 4.1 installed. Premiere's dynamic link to After Effects works, so at least Premiere recognises that I have other programs installed.
How do I get the CC app to recognise all the other programs are installed? The last thing I want to do is re-download and reinstall them all.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi,
    1. Log out of Creative cloud and then log back in.
    2. Right click on the Creative cloud Icon and run as administrator and check if you see those apps as installed.
You can also try uninstalling Adobe creative cloud desktop and then reinstall it.
To reinstall you can login to www.creative.adobe.com, go to 'download center' and then download Adobe creative cloud.
    Thanks
    Kapil

  • Firefox doesn't know that I updated a plug-in.

Firefox was crashing whenever I closed a window. Mozilla Support directed me to the Plugin Check page. It told me to update Java(TN) Platform SE6U37 (among other things). I downloaded jre-7u11-windows-x64.exe. I ran it. The last window said "You have successfully installed Java". I closed everything and restarted windows 7. Then I opened Firefox and followed the same path to the Plugin Check page. It told me to do the same update.

According to this bug on the Oracle site http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=8005410 , the problem occurs because their installer did not properly recognize prior Java versions and is compounded by a problem with systems having the JavaFX stand-alone application installed.
So, if you see JavaFX in your list of installed programs (Windows: Control Panel), remove it. It might also be best to remove all Java from your system before installing the new Java.
I would have recommended JavaRa to uninstall all previous Java from your system, but, sadly, it has not been updated since October 2012 and does not include and will not find more recent versions of Java files and/or registry keys. Hopefully the built-in Windows uninstall will remove all of the files and registry entries
Oracle has released Java 7 update 11 to address the vulnerability recently recognized in Java 7 update 10 and some prior versions. Java 6 update 38 was not updated; support for the Java 6 versions ends in February 2013.

  • Firefox doesn't remember that I ask it not to enable cookies

I keep ticking off 'accept cookies from sites' and at every new session it is ticked on again. Firefox remembers all my other privacy settings. I have just uninstalled Firefox (I was on version 3-something) and reinstalled it (Firefox 4.0) but the problem remains. I recently had two infestations of viruses that masquerade as anti-virus and although scans say my PC is clean, I wonder if this might be an after-effect.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • ITunes doesn't detect that my iPod is connected

I plugged my iPod touch in today so I could sync it, and the USB found sound was played, followed by a USB error sound. iTunes did not recognise that my iPod was connected and would not sync it.
I looked in Device Manager and there was an exclamation mark over Apple iPod, and the following message was displayed:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
I don't know why this is happening, as I successfully synced my iPod yesterday with no issues.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I am having this same problem. I have been able to sync before, but now when I attach my ipod, itunes does not recognize it. The PC thinks it's another drive letter, and itunes never shows it in the list on the left.
Any ideas how to correct this?

  • HT3669 Hi! I just bought an old printer, an Epson stylus color 740 and my computer doesn't detect a driver to install it.

I tried with download.com and the drivers seem corrupted. And this model is listed on the apple website. Where can I find a reliable place to download this? I have a macbook pro.
    Thanks a lot everybody!!

Well. Peter Bannon is correct in that you can download the Epson drivers (although they're 1.05 GB in size). My previous suggestion was meant to just get the small portion of that 1.05 GB file that you need.
The "try later" usually means that Apple's update servers are temporarily down, and that often gets corrected within a few minutes.
    Restarting can never hurt.
Unfortunately, I think that you do need a specific driver for the Epson 740. I don't think you can use a "generic USB driver" (as you _can_ for many network printers).

  • Firefox will not recognize java plugin that has been installed and worked 1 day ago.

I have an IMac with OSX 10.5.8, Firefox 5.0, One day ago it worked fine, today when going to a specific site that requires Java, Firefox will not recognize that Java is installed. I checked for updates and there are none. Java is installed and the site works fine with Safari, which requires Java as well. How can i get Firefox to recognize Java installation.

Apple has removed support for the Java Plugin2 with the latest Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 Java version, so the Java plugin is no longer available for Firefox versions and other browsers like Google Chrome that require the Java Plugin2.
The Java Plugin2 plugin is still there, but he softlink to it has been removed with this update, so Firefox doesn't find the plugin.
There will be fix for this in the next release (Firefox 5.0.1 or 6), so that Firefox will find the plugin again.
I don't know if all Java applets will still be working on OS X 10.5 with that JP2 plugin (Apple recommends updating to OS X 10.6 for OS X 10.5 users with an Intel Mac).
