Firefox doesn't load any website

Hello,
I installed Firefox on a Windows 8 laptop recently but I cannot access any website with it, it either gives me the error message "server not found" or simply doesn't do anything.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall it first, then to follow the various troubleshooting suggestions from the support but nothing worked. I am not using a proxy so I set Firefox's connection settings accordingly. I deactivated both antivirus and firewall, I also added Firefox to the list of safe applications in my firewall. I changed the config for IPv6 and DNS Prefetching as instructed. I have not been able to load any page at all since I installed Firefox so I assume that my history, cookies, etc are clean but I did reset Firefox to factory settings anyway.
The version I am using is 33.1 with no extensions or anything else installed.
I have never encountered this problem before so I am completely clueless. I can load any website on the other two browsers that are installed (IE and Chrome) so I guess there is some sort of incompatibility somewhere.
Any help would be very welcome.
Thank you.

  • Firefox Doesn't Load Any Website and Scroll Bar Switches to the Left Side of the Screen??

First let me say this is a work computer that I am using, so there is plenty of virus protection and firewall. I have always used firefox for all my casual internet browsing and work network needs. I recently updated to the latest version of firefox and that is when I started having problems. Almost any web page I go to wether it is my work intranet home page or a common site such as google mozilla will not finish loading the page. If I hit refresh or try to go to another site it gets wierd and the scroll bar switches to the left side of the screen and the page seems to be stuck loading. At this point almost nothing responds to any mouse clicks except for closing the firefox window. If I go to tools --> options it brings up a blank options window with only the "ok" and "cancel" buttons displayed. Help please, I don't like using IE, but right now that is my only option.

  • Firefox does not load any websites now, after working well earlier today.

Firefox is not working now - it does not load any websites. Message on screen says:- "8e6 Mobile Client - internet browsing is not possible at this time. Error:80001001".

What I have done since the Firefox problem:-
I have tried to uninstall 8e6 Mobile Client, but it won't let me.
I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox.
I have used InternetExplorer8 to search thru the Mozilla troubleshooting pages.
    Please can you help?
    Cheers,

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Firefox will not load ANY websites

When I open Firefox and IE, neither one will load ANY website entered into address bar. However Google Chrome will. So I know that the Internet Connection is fine. Not sure what else to do.

If you aren't able to connect in Firefox, but can connect with other programs, the most common cause is a firewall. See [[Firewalls]] for instructions on configuring firewalls. (Make sure you configure all firewalls that are installed)
Another possibility is that you are in offline mode. Make sure "Work offline" in the File menu is ''unchecked''.
For other causes, see [[Error loading web sites]]

Any website I try to visit using Firefox won't load, it just keeps saying that it is unable to connect. I tried other web browsers, and they work no problem. I tried following the proxy steps provided, but did not help.

  • Firefox won't load any website/webpage at all, why is this?

The internet connection works fine. There's no error message either(like 404 error), Firefox just keep loading the page. Other browsers can still go to the internet without problem. If I close and restart Firefox, the "Firefox is already running, but is not responding" window pops up. This happened often, but not every time Firefox opened. It doesn't occur when I go to a certain website, I'm sure of that.

Check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for settings that may be causing this. If that's not it, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • After update, firefox doesn't load any site, not even home page. tried older version, same . what's wrong

auto update to FF5. no home page displayed(about blank), won't load any page from bookmarks. I un-installed and re-installed FF3.6. still won't load any web sites, bookmarked, homepage or others typed in. Chrome and IE still work so not connection or PC fault. I have tried changing proxy, and all other suggestions in your help pages, no effect.
HP Pavillion6300UK running Win XP sp3.5 all updates in place, drivers etc up to date.

It seems that '''every'''solution want to begin with "start Firefox in safe mode" and then check your addons/plugins one at a time. This is extremely time consuming and irritating. I'm almost at the point of looking for other browsers.

  • Firefox will not load any websites at all

I have been using Firefox for more than awhile, as IE 10 would not work for me, but a few days ago Firefox stopped working all together. I will click Firefox and all that happens is it loads a New Tab, and it has a blank page with no web address. If i type in a web address, it 'loads' for a split second and still is a blank page. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and did not work. I have also reset Firefox, and nothing happens except i get a pointless toolbar back. I do not have Chrome, but IE is working fine for me as i have downgraded to IE 9. I do prefer Firefox though, as it is a bit faster and more simply organized. Is there anything else i can try to fix this problem?

  • Firefox will not load any website, it just tries until it times out, is there a security setting either inside or outside of Firefox that might be causing this to happen?

Firefox was operating normally until I ran a virus scan. I have tried everything I can think of. The computer is connected to the internet because other applications are working and even updated from Microsoft are downloading. I am running XP. Everything else seems to be working as it should.

I've cleared cache, I do not use a proxy.. The problem occurs both running Firefox normally AND in safe-mode.. As I said earlier in this thread, this laptop is used almost exclusively at starbucks/mcdonalds hotspots.. One thing I've noticed is that when I'm at a starbucks which has google wifi vs the old attwifi, I often do not get any "splashpage", and am immediately connected to the internet, in which case FF comes up perfectly normally, and I don't have to use Chrome to "check the box"... Its pretty darned annoying.. Since this occurs in safe-mode, where, as I understand it, there are NO addins loaded, this has got to be FF itself demanding access to the internet prior to it fully starting.. As I also said earlier, when I start FF just after booting the system, I see FF as a zombie process when I do a "ps -xua" (this is Debian/testing/64bit). Once I have internet access, apparently that zombie process becomes non-zombie (is that even possible??)

  • Firefox will not load any websites, continues to say "Problem Loading Page". However I have a full internet connection and Internet Explorer works.

  • Firefox won't load any websites but other browsers connect with no problem. error message: connection has timed out. deleting browsing history did not work.

I also tries removing firefox and reinstalling it - still did not work.
I checked - the firewall wasn't blocking firefox , so it's not that.
As far as I could find my antivirus (AVG) also was not causing the problem.
I'm at a complete loss - any ideas what has gone wrong?

Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.

Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
