Firefox doesn't remember the window size

I recently upgraded my monitor and got a larger one. Now when I open FF it opens at a maximized window that doesn't fill the entire screen. So I'm forced to "minimize" it and "re-maximize" it. But when I close it does not remember the true maximized screen size.
I already tried clearing localstore.rdf and by resetting menus under Safe Mode, but neither option worked.

If Firefox is maximized then unmaximize to make the window smaller and close Firefox to save that setting.
After restarting you can maximize again.
Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
Delete ''localstore.rdf'' or rename to '''localstore.rdf.sav''' in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to test if the file is corrupted.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf
(caution: do not delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox program installation folder)
Note:
Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.
You can rename ''localstore.rdf'' to '''localstore.rdf.sav''' to test if that solves it.
Then you can restore the customization by copying ''localstore.rdf.sav'' to ''localstore.rdf'' if it didn't work.

  • Firefox will not remember last window size

I am using Firefox 32.0.2 on a Windows 7 computer.
Starting yesterday when a new window opens it will not remember the window size. It always opens to a small window that takes up about 1/4 of the screen. It should remember the last window size used and open new windows to that size.
I have not changed anything on the computer since it last worked that I am aware of (it is a work computer so IT could have done something).
I have already done a reset and deleted and recreated localstore.rdf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a corrupt '''localstore.rdf''' file.

  • Firefox doesn't remember the last used download directory that I saved to when it restarts!

Even when I have firefox set to ask me where to save files, it's default location is still the folder selected under "download options", instead of the last location I saved to.
I suspect that this has something to do with the "download.lastdir" option in "about:config", which disappears everytime it's restarted and only appears when I have saved a file before checking on it.
Firefox used to remember the last location in which a file was saved. This was simpler and more convenient.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I installed version 3.6.6

    Deleting "browser.download.lastDir" makes firefox unusable.
It's very annoying. I'm sick of the update to 3.6. It's getting worse with each minor update.
Hour after hour researching about this odd behavior sucks!

  • Why will finder not remember the window size that I set it to?

Every time I open finder I have to drag it out to the size I want it. It will not remember the size I put it at. How do I get it to remember. MBA Mid-2011 with Lion installed 10.7.4.
If I restart it its back to a real small size again and with a 11" MBA that is small.

I don't think it's a Lion issue, as I have no such problems.  But the way window positions work is a bit hard to grasp, as it can depend as much on how you get a particular window open as on the folder you're choosing to view.
If you can double-click your hard drive icon on the desktop and get the window position and view to stick, but after a restart it has forgotten that position and view when performing the same action, then you can try deleting the invisible .DS_Store file inside the relevant folder (in this case, at the root of the hard drive).

  • Firefox will not remember the window position

I have tried all the suggestions including deleting the rft file and opening in safe mode and redoing settings. I cannot make this browser remember the position I want it in.

I have a similar problem, which could even be related.
I am busy using FF 4.0 b2, (helping with testing), in normal mode it suddenly stopped displaying its windows. I can open a new FF window without any success.
I am using FF for Mac.
The only time it will display its windows is in Safe Mode.
Obviously I can't add extensions to help since there are almost no extensions compatible with FF 4.0 b2

  • Firefox 11.0 doesn't remember youtube player size

When I restart firefox and open yt video, the player is always of the small size 360p. It just doesn't remember the player size. It was OK on firefox 10.0.2, so I reverted to that version, and it's working again, remembering the size. The same thing was happening few versions back. When I updated to FF 8.0 (from 7.0) it stopped remembering the size, but then it was fixed in later version, I don't remember which exactly, 9.0 or 10.0. So it was OK for some time, and now again exactly the same thing with 11.0. What's going on with FF? And can I fix it somehow? Because right now I'm stuck to 10.0, cause I'm tired clicking the large player button every time I restart my browser.

After restarting Firefox please check if the YouTube cookie is still present in '''Tools '''('''Alt '''+ '''T''') > '''Options '''> '''Privacy '''> '''Remove individual cookies''' or in '''Show Cookies'''. If the cookie is not present there could be another application or perhaps its extension/plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, Plugins) deleting Firefox data as it is closed.

  • Firefox launches and re-loads my tabs, but clicking on the tray icon doesn't display the window

I can see that Firefox is loaded and running (running Windows 7) - I can hear notices of emails arriving and see the miniature version of the active tab when my mouse hovers over the icon in the tray - but when I click on it it doesn't expand the window so that I can view it. I have tried closing and re-opening as well as restarting my computer. I'm hoping for a solution that preserves the open tabs I currently have. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

    * Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
    * Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window (use the keyboard cursor keys).
If that works then first close all other open Firefox windows and then close Firefox via "File > Exit/Quit" to save that setting.
If the above didn't help then see:

  • Will only remember certain window sizes

Firefox 31 will only remember certain window sizes, only the page when the browser is first opened. Every page after that has to be enlarged. This always seems to be a problem with Firefox, why can't I have it remember my default window size?
    Running Windows 8.1 Pro 64

I use Freemake Video Converter and this gives an option to deliver straight to I-Tunes. Vids appears under Films . So far for some reason I have managed to download lots of stuff from YouTube witout issue with the exception on 1 video from the band Within Temptation, however, a further 10 have downloaded perfectly from the same band. Can only assume there may be a corruption somewhere, although it was an Official Video by Vevo.

    With xfce4 I use .....mount /dev/sd(xx) /mnt/md...
    Setup .../mnt/md in /mnt with ..cd /mnt...mkdir /mnt/md
This will mount the flash drive.
I do not know automount for xfce4.

  • Preview doesn't remember the last page opened

I have noticed that Preview doesn't remember the last page of the PDF documents after 30 mins of usage (or opening up several PDF files). Is there any way to make Preview always remember the last page of files irrespective of time the file was last used and number of PDF files opened? I think in SL-ML era this was probably the case but since Mavericks it seems to have changed.

  • Firefox doesn't delete the browsing history in the address bar

No matter what you do with Firefox in clearing the browsing history by going to History -> Clear Recent History and deleting everything or resetting FF by going to Troubleshooting information, Firefox doesn't delete the browsing history. The website you have browsed still appear in the address bar.
Several people already have complained about this issue (see thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/939028) and the answer from the Firefox staff is that there is got to be a malware. This is not true, I've seen versions of Firefox in clean computers both Windows and Mac with Firefox doing the same thing, or more like not doing what it's supposed to do: clean the browsing history.
How unsafe is that. Where is your privacy? Firefox has to find a way to fix this glitch. Something tells me they're doing it on purpose because it hasn't been fixed after the complains.

You can delete the places.sqlite file if you aren't able to clear all history.

  • I´m having problems with my wifi an my new Macbook pro.  It doesn´t remember the network so every time I log on - I have to "join a network"

I´m having problems with my wifi an my new Macbook pro.  It doesn´t remember the network so every time I log on - I have to "join a network".  I have "ticked" the "remember password" box. I´m connecting to a wireless network on an regular Speedtouch router at home.   I´m new to Mackintosh.

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)
