Firefox doesn't work w/ thunderbird in xfce4

I get a strange problem.  If I have thunderbird open and firefox is not, when I try to start firefox I get "Failed to send command." but if I start firefox before I start thunderbird, all is well.
Once the problem starts it won't stop until I restart xfce4.  Anybody have any idea why this is happening?
-Dustin

It's not a "compiled" bug in thunderbird, neither in "firefox", the problem
is in the script "/usr/bin/mozilla-firefox" which is included in "mozilla-firefox" package.
Just make it look like "/usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird" and everything will work fine.
With night builds you do not use that script, that's why you don't have problems.
It's a reported bug, so you do not need to report it again.

    Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
    Repair permissions and see if that does it.

    Are you printing from the Flash right-click menu or through Firefox? I don't think Firefox prints Flash regions when you print the entire page.

  • Firefox doesn't work on certain websites

    I am continually running into sites that don't work well with Firefox. I tend to think it's because of the rapid-fire changes FF makes to itself, but nevertheless, it's annoying. The sites all tell me to "use Chrome" as a solution, and most times, that works. The thing is, I don't like Chrome. I have FF set up the way I want it. It is my browser of choice, despite the fact that it is losing users to Chrome every day. I don't think I will ever switch, but I really need it to work consistently. I'm having to use the portable version now because the desktop version doesn't work for me anymore. After the latest update, Flash sites won't load half the time. They too work in Chrome.
    This time it is redgage.com. Most of the features only work if I use the right click and open it in a new tab. I've tried safe mode.
    What is the solution to this? I don't have time to keep making adjustments to the program and coming in here to get no answers, and everyone saying they have no problems. SERIOUSLY? That's not what all my friends who switched to Chrome are saying. I feel like I'm losing my right arm.

    Yes, every link on RedGage is broken. To open one in the same tab, you have to drag and drop it on the address bar.
    But I think it's their fault. In the Browser Console:
    13:46:52.262 ReferenceError: event is not defined MainViewModel.js
    Looks like a rookie mistake in this script:
    self.trigger = function (modelView, evt) {
    var target;
    util.hidePopup();
    '''if (event.ctrlKey || event.metaKey || event.which == 2) {'''
    return true;
    if (evt.preventDefault) {
    evt.preventDefault();
    target = $(evt.target);
    } else
    target = $(evt);
    var url = target && $(target).closest('a').attr('href') || $('.filter li.active a').attr('href');
    if (url)
    self.do_load_url(url);
    return false;
    In the bolded line, "event" is a typo and should be "evt". Maybe if you point them to this thread they'll fix it. Even if other browsers work this way.

  • I upgraded to Mountain Lion and now Firefox doesn't work, also it asked to install Java to run Adobe Illustrator

    I just upgraded my iMac from OS 10.7.5 to 10.8.3. Firefox was my default browser and has all my bookmarks. Now when I try to load a page, the content is all jumbled and doesn't display correctly. I just updated Firefox to 20.0 but it still doesn't work right.
    Also, the first time after upgrading, Adobe Illustrator wouldn't start unless I installed Java. Isn't that the program that should be disabled because of security issues? Or has that been resolved?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    I think I figured out Firefox, I went under Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox.
    I only have one account on my computer. Honestly I don't even really know how multiple accounts work. I've never played around with it. I already allowed Java - should I disable it?

  • Zoom doesn't work in Thunderbird for iMac

    I am using Thunderbird 31.1.0 for iMac.
    The iMac has a high resolution (1920x1080) screen, and the Thunderbird main window displays in quite a small font. Apple programs allow zooming of application windows by selecting View > Zoom > Zoom In (or Zoom Out). There is a View menu in Thunderbird, which contains Zoom In and Zoom Out selections, but they do not do anything when selected. I am not vision impaired, but the standard font size is too small for my liking. I believe Zoom is the correct way to deal with this situation, but it doesn't work. Is this a bug?

    It seems to me as if pages that partially fill in autofillable fields cause the problem.
    Previously on IOS7 and before this was not a problem.
    Autofill seems to work for me if no values are filled in by the (initially loading) webpage.
    Resetting the ipad did not help on this issue.
    Neither did removing the stored pw-information help. IOS asked me to re-save the id and pw but that did not change the situation and the problem still remains unresolved.

  • Firefox doesn't work with flash ubuntu

    At first Firefox wouldn't work with flash videos. Now whenever I try to go to YouTube, it crashes. Whenever I try to view a video on break.com, it crashes. I have no idea how to get flash working in FF. It works in Opera, but not Firefox.
    I am currently running the latest version of Ubuntu.

    Adobe flash + firefox + youtbue worked great for me a few days ago, on ubunutu jaunty.
    Then upgraded to firefox 3.6.7 last night, and youtube no longer works, just get a black rectangle; right-click does not bring up the usual adobe menus. The plugins dialog shows adobe flash 10.1.53 and the 'prefered applications' dialog shows adobe flash for application/x-swf & etc. mimetypes.

  • Firefox doesn't work after updating to 11

    Hello,
    I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 64bit Desktop Edition on my machine and firefox has always worked fine until i get the last update from v. 10 to v. 11.
    I get the update from official Canonical repository.

    Hi, thank you for reply.

    I have tried to delete and reinstall it but nothing has change

  • Firefox doesn't work on home WIFI but other browsers do

    Just recently Firefox has been giving me all sorts of issues while at home. I did just get a new router and have tried all the trouble shooting that goes along with that but that didn't solve the Firefox issue. Anytime I get on a site like Youtube for instance, none of the thumbnails load and I just get a loading wheel inside the video screen until I receive an error message. I have used my phone as a mobile hotspot and as soon as i connect to the mobile network, these Firefox problems disappear. Is this a router issue or possibly a plugin issue?
    Thanks

    thanks you for the link. I'll try that option next. But clearly since:
    Internet Explorer 9,8, even 7
    Chrome
    Safari
    and Opera
    render the webpage correctly and there is no issue with validation of both HTML and CSS, then surely Firefox is not working to industry standards.
    I can use any browser I care to but I can't control what browser my potential clients use.
    "I'm not sure if this is caused by the floating sidebar content as a style rule of clear:both or clear:left partially fixes this at least horizontally (it is still off to the left)."
    There is nothing wrong with the code is there as it works perfectly with the other browsers listed above? Maybe I should put the whole web page in a table.

  • Firefox doesn't work after changing networks.

    I take my laptop to work and use it at home, with different networks (VPN at home) and I always put my laptop to sleep. The firefox window doesn't update when I switch networks and if I refresh, it keeps uploading and eventually says "timed out". I have to restart firefox to make it work.

  • Firefox doesn't work as a browser!

    I have uninstalled & reinstalled... I have flipped every advanced option possible.... all I get using Firefox is "new to our cable service? pls pay me"... IE works fine... how is it possible that IE works and Mozilla doesn't?

    From your System Details, it looks like user.js is currently active in Firefox. The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
    You can delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release. You can get to the profile folder below:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Show Folder
    or
    *Go to '''about:support''' and click Show Folder next to Profile Directory.

  • Browser compatibility (firefox doesn't work)

    Hi
    I am currently studying IT at college and I am designing a website on dreamweaver but I have created it and it works fine in Internet Explorer but when I open it in Firefox some of the div tags with text in move over to the side. I have used wrapper to keep them from moving about on IE but it doesn't seem to work on Firefox.
    Can anyone help me out please, I haven't done a website before so I don't know that much about everything.
    Thanks in advance

    We would have to see your web page to offer meaningful advice.  Can you upload your test page to a web server space and post a URL for us to see?
    If your page isn't looking good in Firefox, chances are your page is broken in Safari, Chrome and other web standards browsers, too.  90% of browser rendering problems are code related.  So use the on-line code validation tools below and fix any reported errors.

  • Email submit button doesn't work with Thunderbird

    I created a LiveCycle (v8.2.1) form with the email submit button. Works fine if the sender is using Outlook. If their using Thunderbird, it does not. I installed Thunderbird on my system (normally I use Outlook) and set Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs email to use Mozilla Thunderbird as the email program. When I click the Email button on my LiveCycle PDF form, I get a message telling me: Select an Email Client. The "Desktop Email Application" radio button is checked and that should be fine; the explanation for this button indicates that it should be checked "if you currently use an email application such as Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, or Mail.". I leave that checked, since I am using an email application and click OK. After 20-30 seconds, I get a message with the title bar: Microsoft Office Outlook "A program is trying to access e-mail address information stored in Outlook..." Allow|Deny|Help. I click Deny. After a minute or so, an Outlook "New" email window appears with the appropriate information from my LiveCycle PDF form. Right content, wrong email client. Since Thunderbird is my "default" email application, where is LiveCycle coming up with Outlook? What do my customers do who don't use Outlook?
    I hope someone has a good solution.
    Thanks.

    When you click the submit button, do you get a window that has the title "Select Email Client"and has the options of "Desktop Email Application" and "Internet Email"? If not, does anything at all happen?
    Note that Mac users must have Acrobat or Reader installed and be viewing the PDF in Acrobat or Reader for it to work. Many (most?) Mac users have the Preview Application as their default PDF viewer, and it does not support many interactive features such as form submissions. Although some third-party PDF viewers for Windows support form submissions, many do not.
    For those that do not use PDF viewers that support form submissions, they will have to manually attach the document to an email message.
