Firefox + Dojo Rich Textarea Editor (ajax component)

Hi,
I have problem with show this component in Firefox browser.
http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/techart/2/ajax_samples.html
This component is correct work if jsf page not cache in Firefox only.
As first run page I have correct work. Press F5 and I have this is error output:
FATAL: Could not load 'dojo.xml.Parse'; last tried '__package__.js'
FATAL: superclass: undefined borken
FATAL: Could not load 'dojo.widget.RichText'; last tried '__package__.js' After deploying the application, we have RichText.js (and others) in META-INF/dojo/src and dojo.js is found in META-INF/dojo/o. However, I would like to emphasize that everything is working when Firefox's cache is clear, which seemingly means that everything is installed correctly. The problem appears only after reloading the page from cache.
Thanks.

In IE the problem may be observed only with the toolbar view of this component only. In Netscape 8 this error is reproduced slightly differently, i.e. after the next update of the page (F5) the component works again.

  • Rich TextArea Editor Assistance Needed

I have downloaded the new Ajax components using Creator 2. I used the Rich TextArea Editor on one of my pages. Everything is good except that this component will not contain the document I am writing within the component itself. If I typed in lines beyond the bottom of the component the letters appear underneath the Rich TextArea Editor component.
I would like the component to be able to behave like gmail email editor behaves where it scrolls down if I have more lines than the component will hold. I have not seen how I can enable the scrolling feature in Rich TextArea Editor.
Any help would be great, thanks.
    Peter
p.s. I would like the behavior to be exactly like this window that I am typing in this very moment.

    Hi Peter,
Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback.
The AJAX components are really just samples at this point
to show proof of concept for how AJAX fits in with Sun Java Studio Creator
and JSF. The Rich Text sample component in particular is a bit rough
around the edges. The sample was derived from the dojo toolkit which
is an open source effort. See dojotoolkit.org. They have a bit newer
version available than what we have integrated. If you'd like, you may
wish to get involved in the dojo community. Alternately Sun will
be providing information about upcoming component work. Stay
    tuned.

  • Rich TextArea Editor Assitence

I am working on Rich TextArea Editor on my project. When i drag and drop the rich TextArea editor it does not display toll bar. I search for example code on RichTextArea. I dont not find any example code. can give me the example code and give me suggestion why toll bar is not display in sun java studio creator. is there any properties to set. give me assiestence to me.
    Thanking you

adding overflow: auto or overflow: scroll to the style property of the blueprints rich text editor seems to properly set the editor to scroll when the available area is too small for the given text contained within it. The issue seems to stem from the fact that the Dojo editor gets ots scrolling properties from its container, in this case the "DIV" tag.

  • Portal Rich Text Editor in Firefox 3.5 Not Working

I'm using Oracle Portal Version: 10.1.4.0.0 (Build: 594)
The text item Rich Text editor works fine in IE 6 and has reduced functionality in Firefox 3.0 (scroll doesn't work). I've just updated to Firefox 3.5 and the text editor doesn't work at all now.
The user is presented with a grey box where all the text controls are squashed into the top left hand corner.
The following errors appear in the Error Console :

Has anyone else noticed this? Has anyone got any suggestions on what I can do to investigate/fix it?

    Update :
There is a patch available to potentially fix the Rich Text Editor issues in Firefox
"The Rich Text Editor Does Not Work Correctly In FireFox" - Metalink Doc ID: 456512.1
or you can replace the RTE completely with a 3rd party editor :
"How to integrate third party RTE (FCKeditor) with Oracle Portal" - Metalink Doc ID: 352796.1
Using FCKEditor may well solve the issues but I only use Firefox for development. Our users use IE6 so I don't want to replace the interface unless I have to.

This is a known issue in both Portal 10.1.4.x and Portal 11.x :
Bug 8708210 (11) NOT ABLE TO RENDER RICH TEXT EDITOR WITH FIREFOX 3.5 BROWSER
This bug is not published on Metalink.
There is no solution yet. Consider to use IE Tab (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419) for editing file items until this bug is solved.

  • Using a different Rich Text Editor ?

    Hi,
I'd like to know if you're using a different Rich Text Editor other than the one provided by Oracle ?
Are you satisfied with it ? Especially in the management of images ?
    Thanks
    Max.

    there is a textflow component
    http://blog.flexexamples.com/2009/07/25/exporting-a-textflow-object-in-flex-4/
still exports to font tags unfortunately, but its closer than the richtexteditor. Its basically at the point where you could even write your own small parser and adapt the output to the format you desire.

  • Why can't I cut or paste in my wiki rich text editor

the browswer does a lovely job of viewing my pbworks classroom page but i cannot type, cut, or paste in PBWorks' rich text editor mode so i can't edit from my phone and i suspect i will find the same problem when we switch to ipads next fall. any help?

This problem should be at least partly fixed in Firefox 5, which will be released later this month. If you'd like to help us test the fix now, you can download Firefox Beta from the Android Market:

  • Using rich text editor (RTE) for custom applications

Our users enter texts on two places:
    1) In Oracle Portal in text-items using the Rich Text Editor.
    2) In text-fields in a custom application using html-tags <textarea>blabla</textarea>. For formatting the users currently have to type in html-tags themselves. Now we want to provide them an html-editor.
We would prefer to use the Rich Text Editor also for the custom application. However, that is integrated in Portal and the java-scripts are not easy to follow.
Have you tried something similar? So, did you use the Rich Text Editor for your own application? If yes, how?
If not, a very good alternative would be the qwebeditor (see http://www.qwebeditor.com). Did anybody replace the standard Portal rich text editor with the qwebeditor? In the Portal guides there are instructions about replacing the Portal rich text editor by another editor, but it is not clear if this will also work with the qwebeditor.
    Thanks for your respons !
    Best regards, Jan Willem Vermeer

    Hi Jan,
I have configured FCKeditor in a few clients, and the process it's pretty straight forward, you can use the steps in the document (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/cm_rte_1014_features.pdf) .
Basically you download FCKeditor and put it in your apache server (you can put it unde rthe htdocs folder) after that, all you need to do is modify $ORACLE_HOME/portal/images/webword/buildUIHTML.html to reference the FCKeditor JS and CSS, and you can do the same type of reference for your custom apps.

  • Rich Text editor in Webdynpro

    Hi,
With the new FormattedTextView in 2004s one will be able to render xhtml compliant rich test in Webdynpro.
This however only covers the rednering of rich text.
There still does not seem to be a rich text editor control available for webdynpro applications, which I think might be a common requirement for document centric applications.
    I was wondering :
1 - will there be a richt text editor control available for WDP in the forseeable future ?
2 - if not, are there any workardounds available to allow for the generation of rich text ?

    Hi Valery,
Well, I already thought of that kind of solution, but I do not consider it a very clean solution. I know WDP supports portal eventing. On the other side of such a scenario you could even do without a 3rd party wysiwyg editor, cause SAP does offer an html editor control in its set of HTMLB controls.
We intend to use WDP as a UI layer on top of SAPs KM. Our scenario involves template based publishing of structured documents (we first looked at xml forms, but they showed too many limitations). The idea is to model the document structure and content at runtime as WDP context structures (based on xml schemas) and then to serialize WDP context into XML content and metadata, with KM acting as business and persistence layer. Markup and insertion of images into the different text parts of the document however has become an additional requirement, which is why we are looking for a ways to fit that in our current design.
You could indeed think of some kind of data exchange between a regular portal component and the wdp application, but I am not too confident whether that is going to be a reliable solution.
PS : for the serialization of WDP context, your post in a different thread on this forum helped me a lot in my first attempts to create KM documents from data wdp runtime data (context). The link provided to the online book and your little example was very welcome. Thanks for that !

  • Rich Text Editor Option for Custom Metadata

    Hi,
We have created custom profiles for our clients. In one such profile which was created for news updates, client wants to have rich text editor in case of certain custom metadata fields such as description similar to comments.
As far i as i understand this can be achieved by creating region defintion which gives the option to create a web asset which can edited using site studio api. But is it possible to bring in rich text editor features for custom metadata fields in profiles ?
    Regards,
    Boopathy P

I'd suggest looking into the profile rule's "Use custom include" option.
You need to build the new control on your own, but you'll be able to plug it in via the "Use custom include" profile rule option. It's on the "Edit Rule Field" page.
You can also override the template, but I believe that's a lil' too hardcoded for best practices. This way, you can create a ckeditor textarea and apply it to any metadata you wish (of course, it's up to you to make sure the datatypes match).
Let us know if this helps!

  • Rich text editor in form 11g

    Hi,
I am using oracle form 11g.
and I want to create a form that have the ability to format input text like rich text editor. Can anyone help.
    Thanks in advance.

    hello,
Create a When-new-record-instance or Post_Query on block level trigger with code like this :
    Set_Custom_Property( 'LAF_BLOCK.TEXTAREA', 1, 'SET_TEXT',:TICKET_REQ_MAIN.TKT_REQ_SUBJDETAILS ) ;
you can change the parameters to suite your needs.
    where
LAF_BLOCK.TEXTAREA is the provided bean from the download
TICKET_REQ_MAIN.TKT_REQ_SUBJDETAILS is your datafield save in the database
As the comment above you need to read the developer guide just download it.

  • Rich Text Editor not showing up

    Hi. I've installed OracleAS 10g Rel 2.
When I try to add text using IE6 the text area is just gray. I have tried to change different attributes in IE but its still gray. I dont know how to debug IE either, I normally use firefox.
Any ideas how I can debug IE, or what I should change on my IE to make the rich text editor show up.
(btw, the installation is on my laptop, using XP pro. Not supportet but generally works fine. I know ppl at Oracle have this working on XP so it should not be the issue).

    hi terje,
i just tested this on my 10.1.2 installation using IE6 and it works fine. so it seems not to be any general issue.
    2 things i would check:
    - does a java scrip error occur on the page when you add/edit a text item. you see this in the left lower corner of the browser.
    - check the log files on the application server mid-tier.
    - but before starting debugging i would go to another pc and try to access your portal from there. this will show you if your client machine is the problem or if the portal installation is the problem.

  • Using a rich text editor to style a Flash text field

I've been trying to build a user interface that would allow someone to change the content of a dynamic field (loaded from a text file) using a rich text editor. However the editor inserts inline css style tags like <span style="text-decoration: underline;"> which Flash aparently can't understand. If the editor were instead to insert the following: <span class="ul"> where the stylesheet defined it as:
    .ul {
    text-decoration: underline;
    display: inline;
then everything would be fine. But it doesn't and I can't change it.
I am currently using a rich text editor that I access as follows:
    var myEditor1 = new YAHOO.widget.SimpleEditor('editText', {
        height: '600px',
        width: '700px',
dompath: true, //Turns on the bar at the bottom
        handleSubmit: true
The editor above is "applied" to a textarea within an html form. Then the text is saved to a text field with the embeded styles.
Any ideas on how I handle this so the user doesn't have to insert css rules by hand?
    thanks much

Does anyone know of a richtext editor that uses just html tags (not css like <span style="text-decoration: underline;">) or that uses css styling that Flash as3 can understand?

  • Using Rich Text Editor with a Custom Attribute

    Hello All,
Can anyone please tell me as how can I use the Rich Text Editor with a Custom Attribute?
I want to create a custom attribute based on text datatype, but when entering the value for this attribute in a Custom Item, portal shows a normal textarea. I want that the user should see the Richt Text Editor.
    Thanks for help.
    Regards

    Hi,
Can you tell me what steps you are using to produce this, and which Portal version you are using. When I tried it, I wasn't able to reproduce it. Here are my steps:
    1) Created Custom Item Type, based on Text, under
Page Groups > Shared Objects > Item Types
    2) Selected Three attributes (Description, Name, Publish Date). Note Text and Display Name were already selected
    3) In Add Item Wizard, configured list to allow for my
    custom item type selection.
    4) Then I was able to see the Rich Text Editor when editin
    my custom item type.
