Firefox downloaded on MacBook (Lion 10.7.2), shows open in dock but doesn't perform.

Firefox appears in menu bar but nothing else does. Is Safari overriding Firefox somehow?

I'm going to assume you don't have AIR installed at this point. Let's try these steps:
1. Download the latest AIR runtime
2. Open a terminal window (Application/Utilities)
3. Mount the AIR dmg
4. Execute the following command: sudo /Volumes/Adobe\ AIR/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer -silent -eulaAccepted
5. Enter your password
That should get AIR installed, from there you should be able to get Muse installed.

Answers in this forum have shown different things have worked for different people.
For some clearing YouTube cookies and the cache solved the problem. For details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Deleting+cookies and https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Others had to go a step further after deleting YouTube cookies and block YouTube from saving cookies. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options window. Go to the Privacy panel and make sure it is set to "Use custom setting for history". Click the Exceptions button, type in http://www.youtube.com and click on Block
Another option is to disable hardware acceleration for Flash. To do that right-click on a Flash video, select Settings, go to the first tab of the settings for the option to enable/disable hardware acceleration for Flash. The standard account may have a different profile? Once the avg is downloaded for the standard account, in the new style you can place the add on to the toolbar with the "Customize" option on the three horizontal line menu.

I have a macbook pro 2011 13" that came with OS Lion (integrated not on a disk). I recently bought OS Mountain Lion of the app store and it is working fine. However I was a bit dissapointed in the battery so I decided to try and downgrade and completely failed, I froze the computer and when I restarted it it did not work. I went into recovery system and erased my disk and all that and went to re-download my OS. I was expecting to get the option to re-download Lion but instead I could only re-download Mountain Lion.
My question is since my computer originally came with Lion can I reset my computer so I get OS Lion back instead of OS Mountain Lion?

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
    1.    Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2.    After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    3.    Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
    4.    Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Mountain lion will not download thru the apps store. It has been purchased and redeemed. I have set my energy settings appropriately so computer will not turn off during download as Verizon offers a connection that is very slow. I have set the display to go to sleep (which I have set so I have to sign in again). When I sign in again, Mountain Lion OSX has disappeared from the launchpad. I have tried this several times. I do have Norton Internet Security on my Mac Air. I turned off the idle time scan on the Norton and tried again. Same results. Anyone?

Ask anyone around here, and they will tell you quite differently. AV software will slow down your computer, can be incompatible with software you use, can cause kernel panics and other problems. It is unnecessay since OS X has it's own protection built-in. AV software can no more tell the difference between safe and unsafe sites on your browser than could an elephant.

I am running Firefox v28. When I open firefox, I get the toolbar and I can even open preferences window but that all! No browser windows (or even help pages).

I use a Macbook pro 13" version 10.9.1. I have tried the obvious fixes ie turning pc off and on. Chrome and Safari run fine so no network issues. I followed the advice to turn Proxy setting off but this made no difference. Really dont know what to do so help appreciated. Before the latest update, while using Windows 7, I could click on the Firefox taskbar icon(at thebottom)and I'd get a new Firefox window regardless of how many I previously had open. Now, it doesn't do that. can anyone help?

Ever since the latest update, when I click on the firefox icon in my taskbar, I don't get a new browsing window when I used to be able to do so.
I've checked the tabs menu in the options, and I don't see a way of enabling this feature.

Despite my selecting Firefox as default browser, any link clicked goes to open IE browser, but that too does not open and sends an error message. Please advise.

I installed a HP printer on my desktop. To do this I had to temporarily discontinue some services (start/run/services.msc). The printer was installed successfully, but IE got currupted, it seems. Any link clicked went to IE instead of my default browser Firefox, but IE too would not function.
Please advise what may have happened and how do I correct it?

Opening attachments goes to firefox downloads ,after a few days i click open and it won't open

opening attachments goes to firefox download, after a day I rt click to open and it won't. What do I have to do to get it in my computer download file. It is not going there either.

Do you have any cleanup or anti-virus software that may have removed the files?
If "Open" and "Open Containing Folder" in the right-click context menu in the Download Manager window are grayed then that means that the file is no longer in the original download location.
