Firefox drops letters when using Franklin Gothic webfont, but not Safari

I have bought the web version of Franklin Gothic Book, Medium and Demi from MyFont - and started to use these in my new site in development.
We have hit a few problems which has caused me to have to reconsider the whole issue - unless help us at hand:
Problem 1 - Firefox drops several letters/characters and so is no use to me at all as it is.
The problem doesn't happen in Safari.
Problem 2 - Font looks poor at about 20px size - in any browser on Windows XP - see attached 3
I would really like to have the fonts on my new site - and wasn't anticipating any problems bearing in mind the publicity fonts on sites has been getting over the last 12 months. However, I may need to ask for my money back unless we can get this version of Franklin Gothic Book, Medium and Demi to work.

It's a problem with the font.
The font has the ligature characters removed, but the ligature tables are still there. MyFonts says you should be able to regenerate the font with the full character set:

If you click on the Font sample (the quick brown fox), you will see advanced character options. If the problem persists, or if you can't regenerate the webfont, and you only need to support Firefox 4+, you can work around the problem by adding -moz-font-feature-settings: "calt=0,liga=0"; to your @font-face.
If you also need to support Firefox 3.6, you can use text-rendering:optimizeSpeed; as an alternative workaround.

Probably best if you could post screen shots of the Inspecror window in extended view with a couple of the clips you using for the 2 angles.
If you have audio from both cameras and have identified them separately, the sync is usually pretty reliable.

I just upgraded my iPad to iOS8. I use VPN for work, when I start Safari up with the VPN on, Safari crashes the VPN. VPN stays up when I use Chrome or Opera, but not Safari. I had no problem with iOS7.

I use my iPad for work when I'm out of the office. I have to use VPN to access my company's applications and servers. I just upgraded my iPad (an iPad Air) to iOS8 from iOS7. Now, every time I start Safari up, it crashes VPN. If I use either Chrome or Opera, the VPN stays up. It also works fine with Mail, etc. Only Safari crashes the VPN. Anyone else experiencing this? It always worked fine with iOS7.

More info, it's not simply when I start up Safari, it's when I open multiple tabs and go from one tab to the next in Safari. Doing this sporadically caused the VPN to turn off. It happens whether I'm on a work web page, or I simply open up several public sites like CNN, MSN, etc. I've had to go to using Chrome all the time when using the VPN so that the VPN will stay up (it stayed up all day yesterday while I was on Chrome, while using work web sites, and public web sites). I tried getting back into Safari at the end of the day, opened a couple of tabs, went back and forth to the opened tabs and VPN immediately shut off.

Seeing performance difference when using 6-4- keys but not showing 64 bit k

Forgive me if this has beem documented but i looked and couldnt find anything. So here goes.. I have a macbook 3,1 4gb ram. By all documents I know I will not see the 64bit kernel but when I hold down the 6 and 4 key when I boot up.... OMG, SL loads up like nothing I've ever seen. FAST isn't in the ball park. So I check and yes it still shows 64 bit extension/no.
Has anyone else seen this?

As no Windows 8.x nor 64-bit OS available ATM, I can't check/debug this issue (reported on some forum) by myself --> so, is there some difference in handling hotkeys and/or window functionality between either W7
and W8.x or 32-bit and 64-bit OS?

You need to debug it in the target OS. Use Hyper-V, VirtualBox, or some other virtual environment and install the target OS. These have trial periods, so you aren't out any money.

G5 fans run at full speed when used at one home but not at another!?

When I use my G5 dual 2Ghz at my house in Atlanta, GA in runs smooth and quiet. When I use it at my house in Rome, GA it starts out fine but the fans ramp up to full speed in about ten minutes. The internal temps are within limits in both locations. The wall sockets are all properly polarized. Any ideas?

I have G5 Dual 2.0 Powermac. . . . . where the Power Supply blew up (common Problem) . . . . outside Apple Extended Warranty serial numbers.
I bought a new supply . . . . . from supplier in America . . . . I live in UK.
It works fine except the the fans seem to have thermal run away to max speed after approximately 5 minutes.
If I restart or sleep 3 or 4 times, it seems to work OK after that with no speeding up of the fans.
Monitoring program Istat pro, does not show the fans in its display when the fault is happening . . . . . but the fans appear in the monitor window when its working OK.
Please tell me if the voltages you use in America and Italy are as I expect (110v 60 Hz US / 220v50 Hz in Italy).
Perhaps its a voltage thing between Europe and America.
........ I intend to try a 110v transformer just to see.

Typekit - i want to use Franklin Gothic in Muse

i have a paid kit with Fonts like Franklin Gothic at typekit, just linked to the adobe id.
i thought to use my kit in Muse, specially the fraklin gothic font.
But i dont find the font. The library is still the unpaid one.

Currently, you can only use and preview the free and open-source Typekit fonts in Muse.
You can still use Franklin Gothic on your website, though; the font just won't show up in the font menu or in the Muse preview. The Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:

Or you can add the Typekit embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website. The embed code help page shows how to find the embed code in your Kit Editor. The fonts will be displayed when you view your site on the live server or on a localhost website.

I think I found the answer to my own question (no thanks to Verizon)!
I found this article online which was written recently (2012) and explains the WIFI - Bluetooth interference pretty well. Here is the link:

The way it has been explained is that if the WIFI & BT radios are on the same chip and using the same antena to send and receive, they WILL interfere no matter what. Having them on two different chips is the best way. But Frequency Isolation (Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH)) is a way to reduce interference when they are both on the same chip (as it is in Galaxy Note 2 & S3 - they have Broadcom BCM4330 for wifi/bluethooth/FM) which I guess needs to be addressed in a software update (or may be it already has and is not working well). The last solution is to use 5GHz band for WIFI.
There you have it. But please let me know what you think and if you have found out anything else.

Franklin Gothic bold is not an option in my InDesign CC
If I use Franklin Gothic for my book I'll need Bold.
What is the answer?

It's perfectly OK to mix complementary fonts on the same page. Traditionally, it's more common to use a serif for text and a sans (like Franklin) for headings, but the opposite isn't in any way forbidden, as long as you do it with some thought.

If this is happening with one or two specific sites, those site may have been hacked, or they may simply be bad sites.

I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.
