Firefox.exe *32 will not end process, have to reboot PC

I've been using FF for years and love it. On my work PC, FF just started this funkyness.
The issue:
I start FF and after a few seconds, I notice it stops responding, I go to "Win Task manager", see the firefox.exe *32, try to end task but it will not, nothing happens.
I try to start a new instance of FF, gives error "Firefox is already running but is not responding" I click close , then another error "your firefox profile cannot be loaded...."
The only way to end the FF task is to reboot PC, then when I try again it does the same thing.
Things I've tried with no luck:
-Updated java
-went in the appsdata/......Mozilla/profiles / removed read only attribute (but I noticed when I go back, its checked again...??)
-complete FF un-install, cleaned registry of all Mozilla FF content, deleted all FF folders, re-installed as admin
-run FF in safe mode
-work network connection or private SSH connection to home has same prob
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Rob

    Hey tessatony,
Thanks for the question. I understand that your iPhone 4s is not functioning properly, and that you wish to try to make a backup before troubleshooting. From the information you have provided, it sounds like the device is indeed turning on and responding when plugged in, however the display is not lighting up. Have you attempted to plug the iPhone into a computer with iTunes? If iTunes recognizes the phone, you can attempt to back it up:
    iTunes: About iOS backups
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
Afterwards, attempt to restart and/or reset the phone:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If your issue persists, your iPhone may need to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process. Included, you will find information on topics such as warranty, service pricing, and express replacement service.

  • When I click "File", "Exit" or X in the upper right hand corner to close Firefox it starts using more than 90% CPU. I have to close Firefox by going to Taskmanager and click on the Process tab, select Firefox.exe and click on End Process.

    I am using Windows XP.

You will also notice that your shift key will be emulated. Meaning that keys you will try to press will press but they will act like you are pressing the shift key when you are doing them.
Try this, minimize the firefox window by pressing the tab on your taskbar. After doing that maximize it again. You will magically be able to click any link on your page. When you navigate to a new page however, the entire situation will start all over. My only remedy is rebooting and hoping it doesn't happen again soon.

  • Firefox wont open. firefox.exe is running but will not end

I can not for the life of me get firefox to open ive read count less problems threads and none of there fixes work. I have clean re-installed more times then I can count. Ran ESET, spybot, malwarebytes, repeatedly and got nothing and even try uninstalling them still nothing. what happens is when I start firefox I will get a loading icon for 3 sec then nothing and when I open my task manger firefox.exe is there but its not using any cpu and has 3000k of mem. When I try to end firefox.exe it will say it worked the first time but it will still be there, when I try again I get assess is denied even cmd TASKKILL cant kill it. everything else on my computer is working fine with no problems, Chrome which Im using right now works fine. the only time i can get firefox to work is in safe mode with networking other then that I cant get it to work for jack.

Hello blacy001, if you have an enable firewall try to remove any rules that blocks firefox access.
you can also check your graphics drivers, see: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration#w_search-for-and-install-new-graphics-drivers Search for and install new graphics drivers]
    thank you

  • I have uninstsalled and reinstalled firefox but it will not launch 3.6.1

I have uninstsalled and reinstalled firefox but it will not launch 3.6.1

    Many thanks.
That suggests that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Firefox 7 and 8 will not open, I have to revert back to 4 to get it to start

Everytime firefox upgrades it will not open. No error, just no response. this happened on all updates to 7 and now 8. Each time I have to reload 4. The only advice I found was to somehow set the antivirus. I had McAfee. I completely removed it, but no joy. I now run Symantic Endpoint Protection, but it still doesn't matter. I have a Dell D610 running XP Pro 5.1.2600

  • Firefox crashed and will not restart. I have even removed the program and downloaded Firefox again and it will not restart. Please help!

I normally use Firefox as my web browser. when I tried to use it, a message appeared that said it had crashed and would restart. I have tried numerous times to restart Firefox and it will not restart. I have even removed the program and downloaded Firefox and it still will not start. Do I have a virus or bug in my computer preventing Firefox from starting?

I can access Firefox using the safe mode, which sucks, but I can not get into my profile. I can not access u6krt2kl my string is mlm303va.default

  • When using more than one tab, once I have opened a pdf using firefox my laptop will not allow me to type or click in another tab unless I drag the pdf into it's own window?

when using more than one tab, once I have opened a .pdf using firefox my laptop will not allow me to type or click in another tab unless I drag the .pdf into it's own window? not a major problem just irritating.

I found the cause but no solution, it's actually a plugin that does that: divx plus weblpayer (it gets installed when you install DivX on your system), if you disable it and restart firefox it all works again. But I want that plugin... so DivX need to fix this, unless it is a Firefox bug in its own core... anyway these two together creates the problem.
(I'm running Firefox 9.x on OSX Lion)
I also wish firefox tab tear out tab worked more like chrome's tab tear out, much friendlier...

Sorry, Flash for Android is not yet compatible with Firefox for Android. We hope to work with Adobe to fix this in a future release.
You can play some YouTube videos by enabling YouTube's HTML5 beta. Only videos available in the WebM or Theora formats will play in Firefox for Android: http://youtube.com/html5

  • Firefox Browser window will not open or start.

Sorry that this is long, but I wanted to make sure you knew as much as you needed to know.
I click on the icon in my Windows taskbar, and the firefox browser window will not open.
This was not the first of my problems. At first, Firefox would open immediately, but soon afterward, it began to slow, and soon, it took around 10-15 seconds for the browser window to start.
Now it won't start at all.
I will admit that I go all addon-happy on Firefox, but these extensions have never been a problem before. Here is the list:<br />
    <pre>ReaditLater
ReloadEvery (this one doesn't work anymore, but I did have it once)
    Ookong
    PriceBlink
    StumbleUpon
    SimilarWeb
    WOT
XMarks (I didn't use it much)
NoScript (I recently uninstalled that one, but that might have a factor in it. That thing was WAY too powerful!)
    CoolIris
    CoolPreview
    AdHacker
    AdBlock
    AdBlockPlus
    PersonasExpression
    AntBar
ABE (I'm not sure if this was an extension, but I know that there was
alot of security-type addons from the Paranoid Kit, which is a
list of addons on the addons webpage.)
    </pre>
Oh yeah, one more thing! <br />
I recently installed a GameVance installation thing. I'm not sure what it did, but could've had a virus in it that surpassed my security. I use Avast, if that's important at all. That thing was hard to uninstall, so I had to go back to the site to get the uninstallation software.
I tried to use the firefox.exe -ProfileManager thing, but it kept crashing, so it was useless.
Please help me fix this. I love Firefox. It's the only browser that allowed you to use the most addons! Plus, ALL MY STUFF IS ON THERE! I'd hate to have to change browsers (and I REFUSE to use Internet Explorer!)

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_will_not_start_up
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br />
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
