Firefox fails to load yet Waterfox loads fine

They both use the same profile and plugins.
Firefox starts to load but then stops at around the 27.8Mb mark (according to Process Hacker). It _sometimes_ loads normally, and the same happens when loaded in safe mode. I'd rather not use the refresh option as this will drop everything from Waterfox too (as far as I can tell).
Is there any log files I can look at to find out why it hangs at the same point a lot of the time, but not other times?
I've used both the most recent version of Firefox, and have also updated to the Beta branch (Firefox Setup 36.0b10), but there was an internal Firefox update after installing this and I'm not sure what version it is now.

(I do not actually use Waterfox myself, I do have various Firefox installs and also palemoon, Comodo and usually IceWeasel )
Firefox has a built in profiler that may help you.
* https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Performance/Profiling_with_the_Built-in_Profiler
Waterfox is not supported by this forum.
Try using Firefox with it's own profile. It is not intended to share profiles.
Waterfox is possibly based on a different version to the Firefox Release and of course a 64 bit version.
On the subject of 64 bit Windows Firefox that is hopefully getting close. I think limited rollout is expected pretty soon this year

IIRC there was mention of possibly as soon as Fx37

• Version 3.6.6 and Internet explorer will not load sites, so I reloaded the older 3.6.3 of firefox and websites load fine. Internet Explorer still will not load. The error message corresponding with 3.6.6 was that there were problems with the proxy serve

Upgraded to 3.6.6 and no sites loaded, error in proxy server. Internet explorer will not load either. Reloaded firefox 3.6.3 and sites load fine, but internet explorer still will not load. I was only able to connect to yahoo messenger when websites were not loading.

I have a problem with Firefox loading. It will not load and it says Firefox is using a proxy that refuses connection. Check with your network administrator. How do I get Firefox to work. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice. Any help would be great thanks.

• Firefox fails to load websites after using Thunderbird

When using my new laptop HP Pavilion dm 1, Windows 7 Home Premium, Firefox 4 fails to load any websites after I have used Thunderbird v3.1.9. The only solution is to reboot which is becoming very annoying. I use Firefox 4 and Thunderbird on 3 HP Desktops using Windows 7 Pro without this problem occurring. I have uninstalled Firefox and Thunderbird and then reinstalled and the problem persists. I even did a complete recovery of the laptop starting fresh as it came from the factory and the problem continues. I have disabled and erased all history. I have tried safe mode. Nothing seems to work. I did note on laptop that default manager 2.2 is not enabled (comes up false in troubleshooting log)...not sure if that's a problem as I am traveling in Dubai and cannot match it against my desktop settings. So long as I do not open Thunderbird I have no problems with Firefox. Could there be some kind of conflict between these programs?

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache in such cases.
* Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.

• Since yesterday's (Nov 6th) update, firefox fails to load any sites from web (still displays html files from PC). I tried restore, didn't help.

I've installed the recommended update yesterday (Nov 6th) but didn't restart Firefox. Since restarting the computer this morning, Firefox has failed to open any website from the web. The connection is ok, explorer loads the sites normally, Firefox opens tabs as normal, it's just that the content of the pages doesn't show up, and after a while we get messages like "connection timed out". HTML files that I have stored on my own hard drive display normally in Firefox.
I tried "restore Firefox" but it didn't help.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• Firefox fails to load many of the websites that I click

Since two days ago my firefox browser can't load many of the websites that I click.
I've read the suggestions from Support, cleared my cache and cookies but it didn't help.
Now I'm thinking of refreshing Firefox or uninstall it and download a new one.
But I'm asking the community to help me first with a suggestion before I do one of
those two last resorts. I'd appreciate any help that will make it unnecessary for me to do
one of those two actions.

Hi there,
I have the same issue: FireFox is not showing all images on the page.
Noticed this in FireFox 5.0. Now I installed FireFox 5.0.1 and still have the same issue.
The missing images do not even appear in Tools > Page Info > Media.
The images are usually accessed using DIV tag with a CSS class which contains background-image style. Often, when page opens, the DIV is initially hidden, and JavaScript displays it. Sometimes, jQuery.html() adds such DIV tags, and images rarely appear. Sometimes they do, but more often they do not.
If I install FireBug and use Inspect Element to find such a DIV, it is there, it contains the CSS class, the definition of the CSS class contains background-image style. If I click the icon to disable this style, and then click it again to enable it, the image immediately shows up.
Seems to be caused by some optimization which does not detect images like these.
Hope this helps you reproduce it.

• Firefox fails to load valid url from my desktop or from other links. after the failure it says try again and this always works 100% of the time. WHY??

have many valid links on my desktop to locations I go to often. There is nothing wrong with the th links but about 20% of the time the connection will fail and I get a TRY Again message. It always connects 100% of the time on the second try. This occurs on 8 0r 10 different sites on a regular basis.

Something you can try is resetting it all Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings. Or go to Settings > Store & sign out & log back in. Another thing you can do is restore your ipod. This has happened to me but the only thing i did was that i created a new account but try doing the things above i just told you. :)

• Firefox fails to open 'login page' links on certain websites

If I go to a site that requires some login script, firefox fails to load the page... or doesn't even try to load said page.
An example of this is when I go to newegg.ca and attempt to login, there is no issue getting to the homepage, but clicking on the login link at the very top of the page yields no results, it just appears the current page reloads.
It happened again trying to get through this help site, I couldn't get past 'ask a question' page, hence why I'm now doing it in Chrome.
I've uninstalled firefox completely and reinstalled, all with the same results. Firefox 4 on my PowerBook works fine however.

Are you using an NTLM proxy? There is a known problem with that which will be fixed in beta 7. This thread has more details - [/questions/751415]

• FireFox images not loading in local folders (firebug error-Failed to load given URL)

I am having difficulty when developing websites in local folders (Windows7 computer). The webpages I make are showing images in IE9 & Chrome but not FireFox (nor Safari nor Opera).
In FireFox I get Firebug "Failed to load given URL" prompt.
I am using html5 & external linked css stylesheet & the html/html5 & css code validates.
I have tried using rel path ie images/image.gif & absolute path references ie C:/RPD_Programming/RPD WEB/amwcsnew/index.html
and have tried using % to eliminate whitespace in references but I cannot get FireFox to display images!!
This has been a problem for me for around 2 weeks now & is very frustrating. Some website code/templates I have downloaded from the internet display the websites properly (ie load images fine) when I open them locally in FireFox. Why does my code not allow the images to load in FireFox (paths/permissions/other issue??). How can I fix this?

Is there a FireFox guide/manual in pdf format available anywhere? I have not found one yet & a FireFox reference might be useful!

You need to use file:// as the protocol instead of C:/. The latter may never work (C:\ might).
Where is the main HTML located ?
Easiest if to store the images in a sub folder of the location because you can't go back via ../ beyond that root location for security reasons.

• I have disable all Add-ons - I've reinstalled FireFox 6 three time and it repeatedly locks up and slide shows fail to load. I have all of the proper Flash and Shockwave type Add-ons. I just can't resolve the problem.

I have tried disabling all Add-ons.
I've reinstalled FireFox 6 three time.
Slide show pics fail to load.
I have all of the proper Flash and Shockwave type Add-ons.
I just can't resolve the problem.
Yet my browser repeatedly locks up

Sending a solution that I have already tried is of no help, but I tried them all again, reloading works sometimes, I have seen in the past that others have had this problem also, of pages not completely loading. So I don't see how you can say I am the only one. When I first started using Firefox it worked great but now it doesn't, one of the updates caused this problem. I guess it's back to IE as it works fine now.

• Firefox won't load some Yahoo sites, yet will load others like My Calendar, etc.

Recently, my Firefox has stopped loading "some" pages for Yahoo. I cannot load for example, My Yahoo Home Page, it just comes up "blank", no error message or anything. This also happens when I try to just load the base Yahoo page. Yet I am able to load my Yahoo Mail Page, as well as my Yahoo Calendar. It also occurs in other sites that I have used as well, so it's not related specifically to Yahoo sites. It also is Crashing when I try to do things as simple as click on the "why keep your Add-Ons updated link in the lower right of this forum help section. This is why I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, as I figured something got messed up to make it unstable.
As I said I have "uninstalled Firefox 4.0 and re-installed it", but yet no change. I also am able to load these various Yahoo sites when I use an different browser. I have also cleared my History and Cache, Cookies, etc, but still nothing has helped.
I need to fix this ASAP, as my home page has things on it that I need, and when I load up my yahoo in Explorer for example, I am missing a lot of my Favorites, Tool Bar Bookmarks, etc. Any help with this would be appreciated.
UPDATE: I just got off a chat session with support, and they suggested I run FireFox in Safe Mode, disable all Add Ons and then add them back one at time if I need them back. I did this, of course, "lost" my Chat Session and the problem described above "STILL" exists. Now I have an even bigger mess, as I have none of my same "look" and feel of my Firefox that I had before. How do I get out of "Safe Mode" now, and get back to the same look I had before? Remember, once I get back to this point, then I still have to deal with the "Original Issue" I once had posted above. Thank you.

Update: This is NOT just related to "Yahoo" pages, while this problem first began with some of my Yahoo pages, it is now also happening with other NON Yahoo things I want to load up. Like Twitter, or Links in emails that load Blank, or even images within emails that show up Blank in the preview part of Yahoo mail. It is NOT a Yahoo issue as I have loaded up my Yahoo Mail in IE and Chrome, and everything loads wonderfully. I can even load up sites like Twitter, and other websites that will NOT load in Firefox, but they come up fine in other Browsers.
I have done the ONLY suggestion that came from Firefox Tech support, to load up FF in Safe Mode, but the problems still exists. I have uninstalled FF and re-loaded it, but the same problem is there.
Does anyone have any ideas here at all? I can't seem to get any Fire Fox help, so I am reaching out to the community here to see if anyone can help.... Thank you !!
