Firefox for android keeps crashing at random

When i say crashing I mean the application is closing abruptly without warning
when I restart the app it can recrash when the tab reload or after a few seconds

I have this same problem. It just started happening. I've tried the Firefox Beta and tried reinstalling the normal Firefox, both have the same problem. They just close after a few seconds of viewing any webpage. Just do a google search and wait about 4 seconds, Firefox closes. It doesn't trigger an Android crash either. I'm really at a loss of how to investigate it. about:crashes shows nothing.

  • Firefox for Android 31 crashes constantly

I recently reinstalled Android OS on my tablet. Android 4 ICS)
I reinstalled Firefox, and then went to EFF to install their extension. I the discovered I had Firefox 31, and had to settle for a beta version of EFF's add-on.
Firefox keeps crashing. The Android FAQ's are no longer kept up-to-date, and the section covering slowness, crashing etc is absent!
I really need to revert to version 30, only updating when EFF have caught up.

    Hi!
I still don't know where to go to provide details of individual crashes in Firefox for Android.
Never mind. I decided to reinstall, so here's hoping it works better this time round. At least when I went to EFF I did not have to settle for the beta version of HTTPS Everywhere. The stock version installed straightaway with no dialogue box telling me my version of Firefox was incompatible.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Why does Adobe Reader 11.2.1 for Android keep crashing?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet and have successfully been reading, highlighting and annotating my pdf course books for 6 months but the latest update keeps crashing. I have precious study time on my journey to work and have now lost over a week so am very unhappy. What is wrong with it? I have reinstalled about 4 times and no joy. it will display the bookmarked page but no others. I tried giving it time but it renders a max of 6 pages. I have redownloaded the book but same problem, and obviously that doesn't help as my notes are In the previous file. Suggestions,  or preferably a fix, urgently needed as I am now behind in my study with an exam looming!!

    Hello,
I will answer each of your points in order:
No, the issue is not related to Kitkat as I am not on that level of Android.
The path to my document is /storage/sdcard0/SD329/ebook_sd329_book3_e1i1_n9781780073378_l3.pdf.
No, this is happening with other pdfs. I have tried just one chapter and also a fresh download of the same book (it was downloaded from my university website). The smaller file is more successful, I could highlight and annotate the file, but when moving through the book by more than a page at a time, ie. Using the scroll bar, the pages then fail to display and are blank. This is more prominent on the larger file, the whole book. It's as though I am reading the document on a website and the whole book is being downloaded each time I move through.
It crashes when I move round the document. I would read one page then move to ther next which is blank, I could go back to the page I had just read and that's now blank.
I use the highlighting tool, underline and free text pen. They would be selected from the menu at the top of the screen.
Reader crashes when moving through the document. It is as though the whole documenf is downloaded each time a page is displayed which I would not expect to happen as the document is stored on my tablet. The display of the next page is often slower than the time it takes me to read the a page.
I can't email the file as it is too large.  I found this out when I tried to send it to my university computer helpdesk.
Asmi mentioned previously I have successfully read and annotated this file over the previous 6 weeks with none of these issues.  I was able to moce freely through the document, both by single pages and by the scroll bar or go to and had no delay I displaying the pages. The only change has been the upgrade.
    Thanks

hello emuller, you might have to clear the data & cache of the affected applications for them to work correctly on the new os version (this will reset firefox to the state after a fresh install).

  • How to stop Firefox for Androids crashing on my Kindle Fire.

Installed OK but when I open, opening page appears, lasts ~5 seconds, then disappears. How can I stop this?

Firefox for Android is known to crash on the Kindle HD. We have a development version that should resolve the crash at http://nightly.mozilla.org

  • How do I keep my tabs open in Firefox for Android?

Sometimes when I open Firefox for Android my tabs will disappear and I will need to scroll to the bottom of "Recent Tabs" and press "Open All." How do I set it so that my tabs stay open? This closing seems to happen every day or two and it means I need to keep reopening all my tabs. They shouldn't close unless I close them.

    Hello there,
Try going to: Firefox Menu > Settings > Customize > Tabs to 'Always restore'.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why does Firefox for Android crash when I try to play any media or plugin content?

I have had this device ASUS MEMO Pad for 6 months and Firefox for Android has never been able to play any media or plugin content without crashing. I have tried playing flash with the appropriate flash plugin installed and without and it crashes every time (it should not crash even without the plugin - it should handle it).
Even HTML5 video and mp3 audio will cause a crash every time (with tap to play enabled or disabled).

  • How to exctract/backup a client certificate from Firefox for Android similar to question #1000240 but for the latest Firefox Beta for Android?

As in #1000240 and in #1032181, I've installed a StartSSL login certificate in my Firefox for Android and having a problem with extracting/backuping it to use with another device/browser.
I'm using the latest Firefox Beta for Android (35.0) at present; the Android version is 4.1.2, my phone model is Sony LT26i (Xperia S), so neither of the aforementioned questions asked at the Mozilla Support website do not contain any solution to the given problem.
Any chance to recover the certificate?
    P. S. I haven't rooted my device; if getting a root is the only possible way to recover the certificate, I may consider doing so.

You can try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/copy-profile/ If that does not retrieve the file then see below.
If you know the name and path of the file you can get it using run-as function of adb. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18471780/android-adb-retrieve-database-using-run-as
If you end up down here you'll need root to be able to navigate the file system. I don't know the file name, though it is likely in your profile folder which can be determined by visiting about:cache in the Firefox address bar. It will be similar to /data/data/org.mozilla.firefox_beta/files/mozilla/$RANDOM.default/

  • How do I set a "normal" home-page in Firefox for Android? (instead of the "awesome screen")

How do I set a "normal" home-page in Firefox for Android? I don't want the homepage to be the "awesome screen" (which I personally don't find to be very awesome - way too much going on in one page for a small smartphone screen).
I just want a regular home page that I can set myself. For example, in Firefox for my personal laptop, I've set my homepage Google.com. In Firefox on my work computer, I've set my homepage to our company intranet login. I really prefer and need this flexibility in setting my home page.
In Firefox for Android, if I go into Settings/Customize/Homepage , the only options I see for changing the home page is to de-select certain items on the "awesome screen". There's no option to set a URL address for a normal homepage. If I de-select/hide all the items on the awesome screen, I simply get a blank home page (no web page, just a prompt telling me to enter a URL address).
The other major browsers for Android allow me to set a "normal" home page. Firefox is my favorite browser for my laptop. I wish I could get it to work normally for Android. :( :( :(

hello betsy, at the moment such a feature is not implemented in firefox, but as a workaround you can add a bookmark to a site to the homescreen of your phone, which should have the same effect: [[Use bookmarks on Firefox for Android to keep track of your favorite websites]]

  • How do I set a home page in Firefox for Android

I want iGoogle to open when I load Firefox.

    Hi DOUGM500049, <br>
I think this will be a change on Firefox for Android 20. Currently, you can make a bookmark to your preferred page and open Firefox with it.
    <br>
For more info on how to do this, check "How do I add a bookmark to my device's home screen?" section in this article: <br> [[Use bookmarks on Firefox for Android to keep track of your favorite websites]]

  • Problems scrolling in Firefox for Android - interpreted as clicks instead

I'm using Firefox for Android, the version that was updated in mid-January 2015. Since that update, scrolling on Facebook has become really difficult - jumpy and often interprets scrolls as clicks, so I keep accidentally following links I don't want to. On websites with a lot of links, or drop-down boxes that I need to scroll down, but where the whole content is clickable (e.g. searching for someone's name on Facebook) it renders Firefox completely unusable.
I am posting here following another discussion on the Fairphone Forum, where another Fairphone user reported the same problem as me, and said that he found it to be an issue with Firefox rather than phone hardware. Here is that discussion:
    https://forum.fairphone.com/t/scrolling-problems-only-on-facebook/4298
I am contemplating installing a previous version of Firefox to see if that fixes it, but given the advice here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox
I wanted to ask on the forum first. Is anyone else getting this bug?
    Many thanks!

Hi there, sorry for the delay in replying, I was on holiday...
I didn't try clearing browsing data but I did try uninstalling and reinstalling, which made no difference. I do not have any add-ons installed (last time or this).
    Thanks,
    Carla

  • Firefox for Android will not play mp3

Hi! Why does Firefox for Android will not play mp3? For example the tracks on this page do not play http://audiobook-online.com/?page_id=33 . Firefox for windows plays mp3.
    Alexander

    Hello,
I've just tested and the mp3s on that page work fine for me. When I first visited the site I see a prompt at the top of the screen: "This page contains plugin content. Would you like to enable plugins".
I clicked Activate and the audio played fine.
If the pop-up doesn't appear then you can try enabling plugins across all pages. See here:
[[How do I watch Flash videos with Firefox for Android?|Play Flash Content Without Tapping]]
But be aware that there are security implications with this option. It is safer to keep flash as tap-to-play. There is more information on this in the article.
    I hope that helps.

  • Firefox for Android, Adobe Flash Player, and Samsung KNOX conflict.

    Hello.
I have a Galaxy Note 3. If I go to youtube.com in Firefox, play a video, and click on fullscreen, Firefox will crash and a notification will come up with title "Prevention information" and description "An application has been forced to stop for an unauthorized attempt to access system...". This notification is generated by "Knox Notification Manager", an app that comes preinstalled.
I know this problem is probably not exactly Firefox's fault, however some of other browsers are able to handle the exact same situation without any problem. Can you fix this problem, or is there a configuration that I can do to fix this?
    My system info:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (T-Mobile)
    OS: Android 4.3
    Adobe Flash Player ver. 11.1.115.81
    Firefox for Android ver. 26.0.1

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
