Firefox (for android) takes forever to load or doesn't load at all

Firefox will not load or takes forever to load (i.e. up to 3 or 4 minutes) mostly, I get an "unable to connect" "offline mode" error. Other apps that use data are able to connect to the network, but FF...not so much.
I'm on a Nexus 5 running kk 4.4.2

fixed the "offline mode" problem by following the about:config directions
[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/962245]
unfortunately, pages still take so long to load it basically renders Firefox useless.

  • Printing from my MacBook Pro w/ Brother HL-1440 takes forever ... or doesn't happen at all

    Hello,
Sometimes, I can print just fine, but other times, even very short jobs (2-4 pages, in .doc or pdf format) take a long, long time in the print queue, and may not print at all -- Can someone please let me know how I can make my MacBook Pro work with my Brother HL-1440 printer?
    Thank you!

    Hi Sue,
I am having the exact same problem - happened after upgrading to Mavericks. Brother has a new driver for Mavericks (4.5) but my Air is not recognizing the printer at all. Timing is really bad as I need to print some important things tonight.
Even though the printer is old, it works great and I have newer printers but this one is efficient and clean. Interestingly, when I first got this Air in Jan 2013, I was so completed pleased with how it found my printer software and quickly had me printing - I thought " wow that is the Apple experience and ease of use people talk about." Now 10 months later, I feel like I have my XP system again.
And I don't think one should have to buy a new printer in exchange for a system upgrade! I don't think there is a current fix for this. It's either a bug that Brother works out or we're stuck.

  • I downloaded Firefox for Android on my Galaxy Tablet 7.0. The browser works fine when I first open it. When not in use and try getting bk on, nothing loads up.

    SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 7.0
I have downloaded Firefox for Android on my tablet and added some add ons. When first using the browser, it works great and loads up fast. Once I get off Internet and try getting back on at a later time(whether it be a minute or longer), I type in a Web page address and nothing loads up. How can I fix this.

  • Firefox for android doesn't load all my passwords and corrupts bookmarks

Firefox for Android doesn't load all my passwords on my tablet (Lenovo).
Also, syncing corrupts my bookmarks on my desktop and laptop by inserting bookmarks which I have deleted days ago..
It syncs through all three devices and I know that it syncs because when I sync from my desktop, all three devices have the same time-stamp of when they synced.
It seems as though, if you have two usernames/passwords for the same login address, such as 2 Gmails - there is no dropdown which shows both emails/passwords from which to choose from.
This is all very frustrating, especially when I'm out and only have my tablet and I need to login somewhere when I'm with a client, and I can't login because Firefox/Android doesn't show my login info or the bookmark that I need is not there, because my bookmarks are corrupted after a sync.
I have lost clients because of this.

    Hi modularbase.
I understand that there are some issues with sync between three devices. Specifically, there is an issue with corrupt bookmarks and passwords that are not stored.
Please make sure these settings are set:
    * [[Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms with your information]] * [[Usernames and passwords are not saved]]
    * [[Using Master Password on Firefox for Android]]- the password manager addon for mobile devices may benefit in this situation.
However on mobile, specifically for Gmail signin, accounts.google.com can store a few mail accounts, however you would have to add an account by clicking on "Sign in with a different account". In Firefox, passwords are stored by website in the password manager.

  • Has Firefox for Android not been optimized for 4.3?

After upgrading my Nexus 10 to 4.3 on Monday, everything works fine except for Firefox. I have both 22.0 and Beta installed, and the problems are identical in both. Keyboard lag, characters not showing up though I've typed them in the search/address bar, blank white screens although it shows the page has finished loading, the previous page still showing even though the address bar shows a new page has supposedly loaded, lousy scrolling. Chrome browser works perfectly, such as it is. I've rebooted several times, and no joy. I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but I'm not sure that would do any good. I'm going to try that next, but I'm wondering if there is a known problem with Firefox for Android not yet being optimized for 4.3.

Your statement is perfect, I had a user yesterday with problems on his/her Nexus 10 and it was fixed with the superbeta (Nighty) version of Firefox for android, which you can download from.

  • How do I set a home page in Firefox for Android

I want iGoogle to open when I load Firefox.

    Hi DOUGM500049, <br>
I think this will be a change on Firefox for Android 20. Currently, you can make a bookmark to your preferred page and open Firefox with it.
    <br>
For more info on how to do this, check "How do I add a bookmark to my device's home screen?" section in this article: <br> [[Use bookmarks on Firefox for Android to keep track of your favorite websites]]

  • Firefox for Android makes a hash of ABC iView

I tried to watch a video on Firefox for Android on my new Superpad 6 (Flytouch 6) running Android 4 last night. It insisted on loading its own iView app and then made a complete hash of presenting the video. Full screen gave a blank picture with sound. Upon pressing the back button I got a picture but when going back to select a different program the screen had zoomed in and would not un-zoom. I switched over to the browser that came installed on with the unit - which from the icon appears to be Quick ICS browser - and ABC iView worked perfectly without the need to load any sub-application that Firefox required.

You can use the 'request desktop site' option in Firefox's menu.

  • How do I get Firefox for Android to download and install?

I had Firefox installed on my Android tablet, an Asus TF300T. I was notified there was an update so I clicked to let in install. I avoid auto updates as I need to use a website that is always a couple of versions behind in compatibility. Well, the update would not download and I tried several times. It just seems to time out (error 495 is reported). I tried uninstalling Firefox to attempt a fresh install. This has worked with other apps that were being difficult when installing updates. Now I still can't get Firefox for Android to complete a download in order to get it installed. What's the deal with this latest version? I'd like to get Firefox back on my tablet but the options are extremely limited and frankly the amount of help on the website is also extremely limited. Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I set the "When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid" in Firefox for Android?

Due to the security concerns from Heartbleed and Steve Gibson's excellent coverage on certification revocation, I have set "When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid" on my desktop Firefox and now want to do the same on Firefox for Android. I cannot find anything in the settings menu to allow this. Is it done through about:config and if so, what is the setting name there?

hello mcvickerp, in about:config you can switch the setting "security.OCSP.require" to true.

  • How to view pdf files without downloading them on firefox for android

I use an Electronic Medical Record program using Firefox for android on a a Samsung Galaxy Pro 12.2 tablet. I need to view patient pdf files on the tablet. So far, the only way I have been able to accomplish this is to download the file first. It would be more efficient if I could just view the pdf file on the Galaxy tablet without having to download it. Is it possible to do this with Firefox for android? Thanks.

Not in any reliable manner. There is PDF.js but it has not been optimized for Firefox for Android. https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/#firefox

  • How to play MIDI files on Firefox for Android?

When I click on a link in a web page at points to a MIDI file (that has a .mid file extension), I receive a error stating that it cannot play the audio file. In the desktop version of Firefox, there typically is a way to associate external applications to execute "something reasonable" with the file. This presumably means that Firefox first downloads the file, and then executes the external command on the temporary downloaded file to view or play the file. Does it work similarly in Firefox for Android?

    Hi bgoodr,
It is a similar process, but different functions on the version of Firefox. For further investigation do you happen to have an example where this type of file can be downloaded and what app that youare using to open the .midi file?

  • How to exctract/backup a client certificate from Firefox for Android similar to question #1000240 but for the latest Firefox Beta for Android?

As in #1000240 and in #1032181, I've installed a StartSSL login certificate in my Firefox for Android and having a problem with extracting/backuping it to use with another device/browser.
I'm using the latest Firefox Beta for Android (35.0) at present; the Android version is 4.1.2, my phone model is Sony LT26i (Xperia S), so neither of the aforementioned questions asked at the Mozilla Support website do not contain any solution to the given problem.
Any chance to recover the certificate?
    P. S. I haven't rooted my device; if getting a root is the only possible way to recover the certificate, I may consider doing so.

You can try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/copy-profile/ If that does not retrieve the file then see below.
If you know the name and path of the file you can get it using run-as function of adb. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18471780/android-adb-retrieve-database-using-run-as
If you end up down here you'll need root to be able to navigate the file system. I don't know the file name, though it is likely in your profile folder which can be determined by visiting about:cache in the Firefox address bar. It will be similar to /data/data/org.mozilla.firefox_beta/files/mozilla/$RANDOM.default/

  • How to set default search engine in Firefox for Android?

Hi. I want to set a non-Google search engine as the default in Firefox on Android. I have installed the search engine as an add-on and it is working fine, but I would like to use it as the default search, rather than having to select it each time.
Couldn't find the answer on here or anywhere else.
Please note this only relates to Android.
    Thanks!

hello eggzzz, are you updated to the latest version? this should now be possible in firefox 23 for android in the addons manager:
