Firefox freeze's for about 10-15seconds on some websites.

When I am browsing sites on the internet, most work as normal. But there are a heap that when I go to these websites, freeze firefox completely for about 10-15 seconds before returning to normal.
I have included the url's of 2 sites that it does it on. Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Has the page finished loading when that freeze happens?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Firefox stops responding for about 30 seconds after hitting Enter on any website's search bar, even the built in Google search or when signing into Facebook.

As the title says, I run Firefox Beta 6 and just reinstalled Windows 7 Professional on my system due to seriously messed up Windows update, and when I downloaded and installed Firefox, I noticed every time I searched using the Google search next to the URL bar, FF would freeze for about 30 seconds to a minute, with nothing running in the background and no other programs running. I also disabled all Add-Ons and it still continues to act up, so that leads me to believe it's a FF issue, but even on every other website when using the search bar as soon as I hit enter, it locks up and stops responding then goes back to normal about 30 secs later, or if I sign into Facebook it does the same, and even when I had the FF 5 Beta before I had to reinstall I never had a problem.

I managed to solve this problem as my computer has been giving me problems lately and completely froze on me the other day thanks to Game Booster Beta 3 and completely screwed with Windows 7 to the point I almost had to reinstall again, but I managed to fix all my problems and if you would just follow my link here over to my post on Seven Forums then it would be easier then explaining it again.
http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/180714-windows-7-professional-64-bit-logs-but-almost-frozen-3.html#post1550277 The reason for this is if you shut down your computer while running Firefox, it's possible you corrupted your User Profile for FF and if you follow my instructions you can repair it instead of making a new, so just follow the link, read my post and if you have anymore problems just message me on Seven Forums. Have a nice day and hopefully you get it all fixed. :b

  • Firefox 3.6.12 won't open under WinXP. Have uninstalled/reinstalled several times. When I start the program (including safe mode) I see a Firefox process appear for about 3 seconds, then disappear. Run full scan with Norton with no malware discovered.

I've used Firefox for years with no problems. I've not installed any new extensions or programs between the time it worked great and when the problem began.
I click to start FF (shortcut, directly on program file, etc.) and I get an hourglass for a couple of seconds like it's starting, then nada. As mentioned, I see FF show up as a process in Task Manager for about 3 seconds, then disappear.
Solutions I've tried include: Uninstall/reinstall on the same drive and a separate drive, registry cleanup/optimization w/Norton Utilities, full scan for malware/viruses with Norton, stopping some autostartup programs that were installed and in use while FF was running fine.

  • The Flash plug-in causes Firefox to crash for about 2 minutes every 20 seconds, it is the newest Flash update. It has happened to me both with Firefox 3.6 and 4!

Firefox for me has been fine for the past couple of years or so. Then all of a sudden about 5 months ago, everytime i would use Firefox it would crash after browsing for about 1 minute. I uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. I then got sick of the problem and then used IE till now.
However, i heard about Firefox 4 and thought maybe this would fix it. Unfortunately, the same problem occurred! I then heard about being able to start Firefox with add-ons disabled to find any sources of problems, and i've found that the cause if Flash! It is the newest version and always has been, so i don't know what i can do, since Flash is important for most websites nowadays!?

Could you please do the following.
Download the following two files and save to your desktop. These are direct download links so you'll only see the dialog boxes which looks like the ones you see in the screenshot.
    * [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
    * [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe]
Next, close Firefox via File | Exit (''it's important that you do it this way and not just by clicking the close button'')
Next, double click the '''uninstall_flash_player.exe '''file you downloaded earlier and then '''reboot'''. A reboot is necessary to remove the setting from the Windows Registry.
Next, double click the '''install_flash_player.exe''' file to reinstall Flash.
Finally, restart Firefox and see if it made any difference.

  • Each time i log on firefox works ok for about 5 minutes then becomes unavailable

i have logged on with an excellent signal many times in the last week but each time i use the computer to look at pages after about 4 to 5 minutes a page comes up saying server not available

The answer is that Animated GIF files include a Loop Enable Flag as well as a Loop Limit Count. This GIF had a count which should have allowed it to loop for almost 2 hours. But in Firefox it only loops for about 5 minutes.
It appears Firefox is misinterpreting this value to be a Frame Count rather than a Cycle Count.
Is there any Firefox Employees reading this, and can acknowledge this has been added to their Opportunity (a.k.a. Bug) List?

  • After I close the browser, it will not reopen for a while. I receive a message stating that firefox is still running. I can open IE at this point, but firefox is disabled for about 10 minutes

After I close the firefox browser, I cannot repoen the program. There is an error message to the effect that the program is still running. I cannot access it withthe ALT TAB command and I dont see the program active in the task bar. I can run IE at that time and get back to the web, but Firefox wont open for several minutes-not sure how long. I wait a while and I can back to the browser. That's all I can tell you unless you have specific questions Thanks BB

  • How do I organize photos in DVD size folders, by topic, by date, etc?  I plan to set up a new archive on an external hard drive (1 TB) for about 7500 photos.  Some from a series of XP files, the rest from iPhoto.  I use iPhoto11 on Lion with a 2011 MacBoo

I need to know several answers, and I don't feel I can do it without the basic folder system.  Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.  How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?  I have been using computers for 20+ years for photos, and have scanned some on Windows and transferred some but not all that I wish to archive in new compositions, albums, whatever that are not all on iPhoto.  i also am concerned about overflowing my capacity on MacBook Pro 2011.  Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.  Is this my only option?  I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?

Paragraphs help the reader, just saying.
What are you actually trying to do? Why do you need "DVD size" folders if you're creatng an Archive on an external hard drive?
Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.
It makes no difference at all.
How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?
You can export while writing the metadata to the file in most cases.
Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.
HD? Another HD? You use HD there in a way that makes no sense. What's the point of 'DVD size'?
I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?
Does this have any relation to the previous questions? You know you can delete from iPhoto, right?
You're somewhat confused and you need to
    1. Decide what exactly you want to do
    2. Then go about it.
If I understand you correctly - and there's no guarantee that I do -  the easiest thing is to bring all your Photos into iPhoto and do everything from there.
You can have an archive on an external disk, you can sort and select and edit with or via iPhoto
    Regards

  • My firefox just freezes constantly for about a min or so, 10-15 times a day, need help?

I've tried updating even deleting and re-installing firefox and still no luck.

Another similar post here suggests that the problem is in your profile.

  • Firefox freezes up for 2 full minutes, every time I open it.

After I open Firefox, I have about two or three minutes to browse around before it freezes up. I get the "not responding" message. This lasts for a full two minutes, at least. There's always time to pop open IE or Chrome and get the information I need, but usually wait it out.
It is this, and the fact that I am asked to load new Java updates and restart Firefox EVERY TIME I open the browser that is leading me toward switching to Chrome. Firefox used to be the better alternative, now I get more reliability out of every other browser I use.

  • Keep getting firefox not responding for about 2 months now Can any one help me figure out why and fix this?

I'm using windows 7 64 bit system, for past 2 months keep randomly getting firefox not responding. Wait about 10-20 seconds for all tabs to respond.

This is a bad hardware error, Baseband Error. Some have reported getting through this error by Restoring iPhone with the SIM Card removed. Try that. Try restoring with different computer. Search Web some more for other thoughts.

  • Firefox freezes up for 10 seconds or so

Love all the features Firefox offers but DANG! Quite often when you do an Update, it causes Firefox to HANG on many sites at various times for no apparent reason.
Facebook is one of them, but there are several others that have gotten hung up lately since the Update .
I really wish you would not update so often. When you do it causes problems. That goes for yahoo too. Almost every time they update they cause problems with the browser.
I really wish you would make it easy to revert back if we want to. I am more than willing to risk security problems (I have good anti-malware and anti-virus, firewalls etc) in order to keep my browser working well. I would prefer Firefox work than Firefox to be more secure and not work.

I implemented the first solution (getting rid of extra Shockwave version) and that does seem to help but I'm still having odd issues with Firefox 31. It occasionally crashes and slows up .
I haven't tried the 2nd part yet but will try that next.
It seems every time Firefox and Yahoo Mail "update" to "new, better" versions I end up with problems.

  • Firefox sometimes hangs for about a minute. Fedora 12, firefox 6.0.2

I am using ff 6.0.2 with Fedora 12, and have a problem of the browser hanging sometimes. I have started firefox in safe mode, but it still happens.
It usually happens when I am trying to open a bookmark inside a folder inside the Bookmarks toolbar. When I click on such a folder on the toolbar, firefox starts to hang, which can be more than a minute! Animations from commercials etc. continue to work though.
As I have not yet selected the actual bookmark, It is not a problem of downloading the webpage itself. It happens maybe every 1-2 hours or so. Also, I did not experience such a long hanging time ever with a previous version of firefox.
I would appreciate any help in this matters.

  • How to stop Firefox demanding authentication for each page of the same website (IE does not do this for the same site))

I have a website (Still being developed but at the testing stage) which works fine in IE but when viewed in Firefox It insists on authentication at every page, instead of just one login it repeats the login at every page.

    Hi,
If it's Basic auth, please check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If it's okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in another location separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings ('''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window '''Options'''], and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] ), and usually would also be empty of any '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in Tools > Add-ons) and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website data/settings etc., ('''Tools''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History '''Clear Recent History''']).

For NTLM authentication, you can try to automatically trust the domain in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris] list in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config], eg. domain.com
Not sure, but for Kerberos, I think you would have to use '''network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris''' instead.
