Firefox freezes when ctrl + enter is pressed simultaneously

Firefox freezes when ctrl + enter is pressed simultaneously.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
Please report back soon.

  • Firefox freezes when saving, printing, or otherwise opening "sub-windows"

Firefox freezes when I open a window to save, print, etc. - not always, but far too often. If I dare try to choose another folder in which to save, I'm even more likely to make it freeze.
When it happens for the first time after opening Firefox, I can often wait several minutes, then it unfreezes, and I can then do one or two more clicks (e.g., scroll, save, etc.) before it freezes again. Otherwise (or the next time, if I didn't restart Firefox in the meantime), the program just gets completely unresponsive, and I have to close it via the Task Manager. So there's unfortunately no error message, crash ID, etc.
Possibly related: When I'm using Firefox for a while (with many Firefox windows open), I'm often not getting menus displayed anymore, just the outline of the menus. The program still reacts to clicks into the outline, but it's like driving blindfolded... Menus include those from the menu bar, those from right-clicking into a website, or those from Adblock Plus (icon in the bar, at the right bottom of each window).
I'm currently still using 3.6.13 (with Adblock Plus) on a Windows 7 (x64) machine. The problem has persisted long before I've updated to this or previous Firefox versions... possibly since I've been using it on this computer (= summer 2010), but I'm not sure. I should add that I *am* using Firefox with lots (!) of Firefox windows open simultaneously, and I often let my computer hibernate rather than shut it down every single time I walk away... but I've been doing that for at least 5 years now (using tons of Firefox windows even much longer, still with Windows 95 or 98), and the problem is new. And limited to Firefox. (Indeed I can even open pages, on which Firefox has just crashed, in Internet Explorer or Opera, and then peacefully save, print, etc. there.)
I'd prefer to keep Firefox as my standard browser, but the problem is getting too annoying! Thanks for your help!!

    Hi Susan,
The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").
    Good Luck :D

  • Firefox freezes when trying to open new Youtube Videos, what can I do?

I run Firefox 19.0.2 and the latest Flash plugin. All of a sudden Firefox freezes when I try to open Youtube videos. I can only kill it with ctrl+alt+del.
Note that I CAN watch Youtube videos that are saved as favorites and I also CAN watch videos I click as related videos. However whenever I use the search bar and click a new video I haven't watched before, Firefox will freeze over and over again.
I already tried disabling the hardware acceleration, as well as deleting the cache and varying cache size.
I also tried re-setting the dom.ipc config settings as stated here:

  • Safari & FireFox  freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive.

Safari & FireFox freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive. This just started happening in the past couple of days. I haven't installed any software, or made any updates (that I can remember.) When the browser freezes I can't "force quit" them. I have to manually shut the computer down are restart it. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Safari and Firefox box.... it could be a problem with the hard drive itself, not your browsers.
Just to make sure, boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility to Verify and if necessary, Repair any errors Disk Utility reports.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*

  • Lightroom freezes when I enter WEB mode

Hi, I have another question. I find that Lightroom freezes when I enter WEB mode and try to build a web presentation using this feature. I'm currently running XP as my operating system, 4 gb RAM, with an AMD DualCore 4600+ processor.
    Thanks for your help,
    DLMST

How do you go to the Web Module? Do you go from the grid with all your images, potentially hundreds to thousands of images or do you first make a Collection of you chosen images, More likely to be tens to maybe couple hundred of images.
If the former, LR maybe hanking on the renderign of so many images to what ever initial template Web is set for.
Best to do a selection of images to a Collection First. What happens if you go to Web with a Collecion of say, 50 images?

  • Firefox freezes when I switch tabs or write in a form.

Every time I switch tab by clicking on them(and sometimes when using the short cut, ctrl+tab ctrl+2 etc) or when I start writing in the awesomebar/a form Firefox freezes. It just visual freeze so I can still go to a website, click on stuff and so on. But when I resize the window by pressing F11 or something like that it returns to normal. I've tried to disable all the plugins and add-ons and i've tried to make a clean reinstall, and when I say clean, I mean clean (deleted all the mozilla/firefox folders in /AppData etc) . Two things that's not affected by this freezes is
    1. Flash objects
    2. The title of the page. (the tabs title still freezes)
I'm using a ProBook 4330s and I have tons of friends using the exact same model with firefox who's not experiencing this problem. Also note that I don't have this problem with Chrome or Explorer.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Firefox freezes when opening a window with PDF files, etc., yet it works perfectly when using explorer as browser.

I think Firefox mozilla is having issues with Adobe reader. It frequently crashes. I think this may be why my computer freezes when pulling up a PDF file or other text windows, yet, everything works perfect when using Explorer as my browser. It is so frustrating using Mozilla because it gets stuck when opening windows which require pulling up certain types of texts or applications, then I have to wait forever, or, reboot, and once in a while it gets so stuck that I have to take out battery and remove all power sources then start from scratch, and set my computer back to all settings previous to failure. Like I said, this only happens with Mozilla, all other browsers work perfectly well, but I love my Mozilla and it is my preferred browser. Please help. Thanks so much,
