Firefox freezes when saving images

i am having several issues
1. when i try to save images, usually after hitting view image, FF hangs for about 10-30 secs...none of the help guides on that have helped.
2. i want to be able to clear my cookies and cache when i close FF but keep all my login info, but when i chage FF to custom settings and i restart FF i lose everything.

I run Firerox 3.6.8. on Win 7 64bits Home Premium. About 3 days ago after "Viewing" an image in a new window or not and wanting "Save Image As..." Firefox freezes, Task manager says "Program not responding".I tried same maneuver in Internet Explorer 64bits. No problem. Image saves alright. I tried all the tips suggested in the Firefox forum to no avail. The only thing I notice is that Google Image Viewing integrates with Firefox and not with IE for image viewing and that Google Image Viewing was recently predominantly revamped. Thanks for the info/solution

  • Firefox freezes when saving, printing, or otherwise opening "sub-windows"

Firefox freezes when I open a window to save, print, etc. - not always, but far too often. If I dare try to choose another folder in which to save, I'm even more likely to make it freeze.
When it happens for the first time after opening Firefox, I can often wait several minutes, then it unfreezes, and I can then do one or two more clicks (e.g., scroll, save, etc.) before it freezes again. Otherwise (or the next time, if I didn't restart Firefox in the meantime), the program just gets completely unresponsive, and I have to close it via the Task Manager. So there's unfortunately no error message, crash ID, etc.
Possibly related: When I'm using Firefox for a while (with many Firefox windows open), I'm often not getting menus displayed anymore, just the outline of the menus. The program still reacts to clicks into the outline, but it's like driving blindfolded... Menus include those from the menu bar, those from right-clicking into a website, or those from Adblock Plus (icon in the bar, at the right bottom of each window).
I'm currently still using 3.6.13 (with Adblock Plus) on a Windows 7 (x64) machine. The problem has persisted long before I've updated to this or previous Firefox versions... possibly since I've been using it on this computer (= summer 2010), but I'm not sure. I should add that I *am* using Firefox with lots (!) of Firefox windows open simultaneously, and I often let my computer hibernate rather than shut it down every single time I walk away... but I've been doing that for at least 5 years now (using tons of Firefox windows even much longer, still with Windows 95 or 98), and the problem is new. And limited to Firefox. (Indeed I can even open pages, on which Firefox has just crashed, in Internet Explorer or Opera, and then peacefully save, print, etc. there.)
I'd prefer to keep Firefox as my standard browser, but the problem is getting too annoying! Thanks for your help!!

    Hi Susan,
The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").
    Good Luck :D

  • Firefox freezes when trying to open new Youtube Videos, what can I do?

I run Firefox 19.0.2 and the latest Flash plugin. All of a sudden Firefox freezes when I try to open Youtube videos. I can only kill it with ctrl+alt+del.
Note that I CAN watch Youtube videos that are saved as favorites and I also CAN watch videos I click as related videos. However whenever I use the search bar and click a new video I haven't watched before, Firefox will freeze over and over again.
I already tried disabling the hardware acceleration, as well as deleting the cache and varying cache size.
I also tried re-setting the dom.ipc config settings as stated here:

So far, nothing would do the trick.
Your help is much appreciated, thanks a lot! :)

Photoshop CS2. When I work on a file and click "save" it freezes. If I click save as, using the same name it freezes. If I save it and number or change the file name it save correctly without freezing. i.e. Save 1.jpg' save 2.jpg etc.

  • Safari & FireFox  freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive.

Safari & FireFox freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive. This just started happening in the past couple of days. I haven't installed any software, or made any updates (that I can remember.) When the browser freezes I can't "force quit" them. I have to manually shut the computer down are restart it. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Safari and Firefox box.... it could be a problem with the hard drive itself, not your browsers.
Just to make sure, boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility to Verify and if necessary, Repair any errors Disk Utility reports.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*

  • Firefox freezes when I access my add-ons page.

Firefox freezes when I access my add-ons page. I must use Task Manager to unfreeze it. Some add-ons (AdBlock) still work. Others (NetVideoHunter) don't. I would like to remove all the add-ons and start fresh, see if it makes a difference, but when I access my add-ons page to press the "Remove" button, FireFox freezes--so what am I supposed to do? I like Firefox because it's simple and generally glitch-free--until now.

hey furdeal - if you'd like a fresh start, you can simply [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]]. this will keep your bookmarks, passwords & history but will remove all extensions and custom preferences...

  • Firefox freezes when ctrl + enter is pressed simultaneously

Firefox freezes when ctrl + enter is pressed simultaneously.

    Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
    Please report back soon.

  • Safari freezes when saving to PDF

    Hi Folks
Well... Safari doesn't freeze when saving a web document to PDF, but somehow, it gets stuck for many seconds and later it pop ups a banner which says that it can't connect with Server "Martin" (me, which I guess is the name given to the MacPro).
So I'm using the MBP as "Desktop Computer" and conneted via FireWire to the MacPro. The weird thing is that I already unmounted the disks, unpluged the FireWire cable and turned off the MacPro, but the MBP still looking for the named server.
I think that's because some sharing configurations, but I'm not sharing the Printer (I don't have one, so discard that ).
So well... this issue is pretty annoying because I have to save as PDF many web documents and the "thinking" time of the computer by looking for that server is a big waste of time.
    Can anybody help me here?
    Thanks a lot!
    Ø3
    PS:
Here is a pic if needed:

Hey Linc it happens when I click on the PDF button. After a while, the pull down menu appears with the respective options, so it happens before the process of saving the file (selecting file type, folder, etc, and save).
Hope this helps you to find something. I have not tried deleting the MacPro from the Sharing Propierties in the MBP and see if the MBP keeps seeking for that server. Will try that later and update here.
Thanks for taking the time, man!

  • Firefox freezes when going to a site or page that requires Flash Player, such as YouTube. I have the most updated version of Flash. Is there a solution to this problem?

I'm having trouble visiting sites or pages that require Flash Player, Firefox will just freeze when they're partially loaded and it will stay frozen until I close Firefox. This will happen with any page that uses flash player. I can disable it, but then I can't access the content which requires Flash Player, have to use a different browser and I'd rather just use Firefox.
