Firefox/Google was updated w/o my approval, what happened to my bookmarks?

When I loaded Firefox/Google I believe it was updated w/o my approval and now my bookmarks are gone. Then I was given an option to pay a third party to fix a problem that Firefox created. I want my previous version of Firefox back. Why can't I have a phone number to call??????

as you have malicious addons present, please perform all these steps:

If it now says "invalid" or "unsupported" SIM, your iPhone was almost certainly hacked to unlock it from the original cell carrier and updating has now removed that hack and the iPhone has relocked back to that original carrier. You will have to contact that carrier and ask if it would be possible to get your iPhone officially unlocked.

Try editing the original file. Resample pics to a lower resolution, check out other graphics, check table borders (eliminate any dotted lines or borders), check font usage. When generating PDF, try Save As (instead of Print > Save As), although I don't expect that'll make much difference.

After updating to firefox 5 all my bookmarks are lost, and I can not find an old places.sqlite file. What happened to my bookmarks?

I updated from Firefox 3 to Firefox 5 (Windows XP), and all my bookmarks are lost. Maybe I should have thought of making a backup but I did not think of this and previously after an update I could find them again. Now I can not find my bookmarks anywhere, all files in my profile have a date and time from the new installation. Is there any chance of finding my bookmarks somewhere else on my computer? If so, where are they and how can I restore them?

Thanks for the answer. I read the article but it seems that the solution to my problem is not in there. Apart from the lost bookmarks Firefox is working fine, also I can make new bookmarks and delete them without problems. When I restart Firefox I don't loose them.
Apparently after installing Firefox 5 everything of Firefox 3 was deleted including my profile. The only bookmark .json file I have is from the new installation, which means it does not contain any of my old bookmarks. It now has today's date and time.
In my profile I have three 'places' files, now all with today's date and time:
- places.sqlite (10240 kb)
- places.sqlite-shm (32 kb)
- places.sqlite-wal (865 kb)
But even though places.sqlite is large, it apparently does not contain my old information. Or could it? Then how to get to it?

Firefox 4 saves 10 rotating backup, one each day that you start Firefox. So you can try to restore the bookmarks from an older JSON backup. The file size can be an indication about how many bookmarks are in the file.

You could try removing the sim card and cleaning it - then put it back.

In conjunction with the new Firefox button in Firefox 4.0 and with the addition of some new features that added a number of new menu items, many of the older menu items were moved around or only appear under certain conditions. It can be a bit confusing until you get used to the changes, but beyond adding new menu items in the future for new features, I don't think there will be major changes like that for awhile.

While I was repairing my mac...what happened to Downloads?

Hi all, so where to begin? Long story short, during some renovation work to my home, I had to switch my mac off and pack it away. 6 weeks later, unpacked it, set it up, switched it on and...well not sure what happened. It booted, then rebooted and looked like it did when I first bought it, then it rebooted again and I was confronted with a grey screen with a folder and question mark flinging itself about! Tried all the usual, nothing would get it to boot, so I blitzed an external hard drive, installed Snow Leopard on it and managed to get going. Ran disk utility on the internal drive and it said the disk had errors, couldn't be repaired, please back up and format. Now, I had moved a lot of stuff previously onto my laptop, just for storage, so, after a few stif drinks, I took the plunge and erased the hard drive, re-installed Snow Leopard and to my surprise, here we are. So, hint number one, always make sure you have a back up somewhere, because I didn't have everything, and am now on the hunt for all my stuff.
Now, it appears that the downloads section of Support, which I used a lot, is now the Apps Store. I had downloaded loads of lovely email stationary via Downloads, along with silly effects for Photo Booth, effects for iChat...and now they are all gone and I haven't a clue where to find them!
Anyone got any clues? Had also downloaded some fantastic screensavers with clocks in wonderful backgrounds...all gone
Oh and hint nomber two, always make sure you have a back up somewhere
So basically I'm wanting to know where to find all the email stationary, screensavers etc.
Also wanting to make the point about backing up everything.
And also, if your Mac throws a hissy fit, I really recommend having an external drive, if you can install your OS onto it and get your mac going, it is a big big help!

Haven't done the hardware test as yet, have just managed to get the mac up nd running again.

Help!! Updated Itunes .. now look what happened!

I updated to 7.0 and when I connected my Ipod it started to update my songs then it stopped and wouldn't recognize the Ipod, so now I'm missing alot of song. Said go to the Summary tab of the Ipod and restore the Ipod. Well, there is no Summary tab because its not recognizing it! I think my name of the Ipod is Podcasts( for some reason) and it would'nt recoginzie that name. So I went to Ipod Update( Not Itunes, in Programs) to restore only to find out the it doesnt work anymore and I have to update through Itunes 7.0!! I then removed my Itunes and reinstalled it.Still the same problem. Do Not Disconnect was always on but I had to unplug it that way. Now the Apple on the Ipod is on and I can hear it running then it flashes off then back on. And how come if I uninstalled the Itunes it pulled my songs back up from the previous version? I was willing to start fresh with everything. Stressing me out!! What do I do??

if so, what we're going to try is a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 install. (that's the version of QT which you are supposed to be getting in an itunes 6.0.2.23, 6.0.3.5 or, as of this afternoon, an itunes 6.0.4.2 installer bundle.)
download and save the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

Thunderbird won't open in an new tab, but it starts the firefox browser again. I have no idea what happened but some days ago it opened link's in an other tab.

Some day's ago without any reason something changed.
Normally when i click on a link in the thunderbird messege there opened a new tab in firefox, but now firefox starts again.

First, try to reset the phone by pressing the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back. You will not lose data by resetting.
