Firefox hang problem

I am using firefox for desktop...all post all thing for my blog using Mozilla Firefox...But when posting blog post for my site (www.makegkeasy.in) the firefox became hang....plz solve this problem

Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
* [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
* [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

  • Firefox Hanging Problem, but not actually hanging [Security Issue?]

    Reposting from a reply I made on another thread so that this might get more attention for people:
    So I've been having this problem for the past couple days, after I installed the 4.0 Beta 12, but not immediately. I resorted to using IE8 until I could troubleshoot. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled, initially keeping my customizations, then again without. Upon installing the new RC I imemdiately had the same problem.
    For me what goes wrong is Firefox will open correctly and begin to load a page or pages, and about 15 seconds in, usually after all loading is done, it will seemingly freeze, or hang rather. Seemingly completely unresponsive.
    Here is the aha moment: I became fed up with this and was just trying to get to the troubleshooter's containing file or whatever, [so that I could delete the session restore javascripts, like the support page says to try for hangs]. It hang right before I was able to open the containing folder. Instead of trying to fix it or wait I immediately alt-f4ed it. But firefox remained, and to my surprise, it worked completely fine. Normally, when its hanging, any click on the window will just make a windows BING sound and be compeltely unresponsive. After attempted to close firefox, it actually worked fine.
    This leads me to believe there is some masking window that makes firefox appear to be hanging, but in reality its working totally fine.
    I've attempted to unmask this by dregding through process explorer, but so far to no avail. I'm no expert, but I figured if this board hasn't realized this yet someone can figure it out from here far better than I can.
    Let me know when you figure it out to so I stop using IE. Even though Firefox functions after I alt-f4 the "mask", I don't know if the 'mask' is harming my system or giving me malware or what so I'd rather not fuck with it.

    Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).<br />
    If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • It seems that my firefox hangs/freeze when I'm playing youtube vids, unable to surf at all. When i check task manager it seems to be a plugin container.exe problem? Can someone help me pls..

    My firefox sometimes totally hangs/freezes when i try to replay a youtube video. I click the play button but the whole firefox juz hangs. When i try to end task it, i noticed a firefox "plugin container.exe" process.. So i figure it might be a plugin problem? I hope someone can help me with this..
    Its getting very irritating and i love using firefox for web surfing.
    Thanks in advance for ur help

    YouTube videos use the Flash plugin. You can test your Flash plugin and see what version is installed by going to [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Adobe's Flash Player test page]. To update Flash to the latest version, see [[Managing the Flash plugin]].
    Starting in Firefox 3.6.4, Flash is loaded in a separate plugin-container process. For the background, see the articles [[What is plugin-container]] and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins Plugin-container and out-of-process plugins (MozillaZine KB)].
    If Firefox hangs when playing Flash videos at YouTube, it could be a video driver issue, Try turning off hardware acceleration in your [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player display settings] (visit any page that uses Flash, such as [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Adobe's test page], then right-click the Flash animation, select Settings, and uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration" on the Display panel). ...More information here:

    Oops - for some reason, this problem now seems to have gone away. May have had something to do with Flash. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  • Each time the firefox will make com hangs awhile when ply a sound, after close firefox the problem solved.

    When Firefox opened, and the system ply a sound, the com will hang awhile, but after I close Firefox, the problem solved itself, if I disable all plugins, the problem solved, can help check which plugins will cause this problem or this is Firefox problem???
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == ply a sound

    I changed the setting, but unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem. This situation does seem to occur more, when I load or reload my eBay home page. I noticed that all data and information would go ahead and load, but the random ads bar would not immediately load and when I would left click anywhere on the page, Firefox would temporarily freeze, the page turns white, Firefox not responding will display, and then the banner would load and everything is fine. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my Flash Player. Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Reggie

  • Firefox hangs every time I load Google, no other sit is a problem, any ideas please?

    Detaisl are pretty much as above, for some reason when I use Google search, my deafult search engine. Firefox hangs. The only way I can get it going again is to claose the browser, I then get a not responding message from windows. Then start the browser again. I get the session restore window, untick the tab for Google and evrything starts OK.

    This pops up over or in addition to the normal home page, or replaces your normal home page?
    Since multiple browsers are affected, you may have some system-level malware, or multiple unwanted extensions.
    You may want to run some supplemental scans. These three tools are highly regarded (and free):
    * Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
    * SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/
    * AdwCleaner : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ ''(ignore banner ads for other products)''
    Then disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized add-ons on these two tabs:
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category<br>
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
    Exit and restart Firefox to finish that phase of the clean-up.

  • Firefox hangs on startup in normal mode and safe mode, won't start in reset mode

    using FF 26.0
    using windows 7 home premium v 6.1 (latest)
    My problems started after loading FF 26.0. If I start FF in regular mode it hangs. Same thing happens when I start in safe mode. I can shut FF down (while it is hung) by clicking the X in the top right corner.
    When I start FF in safe mode and choose reset FF, it hangs without FF ever appearing; I have to shut it down using task manager. After shutting down in reset mode, I can start FF in regular mode and everything works fine. However, stopping FF does not shut it down. I have to use task manager to shut it down. Then I am back to square one when trying to start FF, i.e. reset firefox, hangs, task manager shut down, then start FF.
    When FF is running, I can open a new FF window.All my addons are up to date. I have reinstalled FF 26.0, three or four times.
    I have cleared cache and cookies.
    I have scanned for viruses and rootkits etc. with microsoft security essentials and spybot.
    I have been a happy user of FF for more than a decade and have never had a problem like this. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Firefox hangs -- no fixes work -- even if I uninstall it, it stays open in task manager!

    UPDATE 2: Disregard update 1: The problem's still there: If the computer goes into sleep or hibernate, Firefox hangs when I wake it up and the problem proceeds as described. I think it's something to do with Firefox sync and/or various add-ons. I suppose I should now try the long process of gradually allowing sync permissions and add-ons until I find the particular one(s) that are causing the problem but I'd prefer not to! Any other sugestions?
    UPDATE: This problem now seems to be fixed. I tried a clean install and it seems to be working, so far. The only difference is I'm no longer using AdBlock plus (coincidentally and unrelatedly), so it's possible that's what was causing the problem.
    I'm running the latest vesion of Firefox on Windos 7 (32bit). It always works fine for the first few webpages but then hangs forever. Specifically, it appears to be loading the webpage, but nothing happens, not even the 'failed to load page'.
    If at this point I close Firefox, it gives me the 'Firefox is running but not responding' message. If I try and close Firefox from task manager (which continues to show it using a big chunk of memory -- bigger than when it's actually running!), nothing happens.
    At this point I'd tried all the obvious things: Refreshing Firefox, disabling add ons, etc. (there's no reason this should've been the problem since I use sync to run Firefox on Android and on another Windows 7 computer (64bit)). So I tried to uninstall Firefox, then reinstall it. When I went to run my newly-installed browser... Firefox was STILL running! I tried this again, from scratch, and found that it really was still open according to Task Manager, despite not appearing in the list of installed programs in the Control Panel!
    So to summarise:
    1) Firefox stops working after a while and hangs
    2) It refuses to close even if it isn't actually on the PC anymore
    3) The only way for me to fix this, so far, is to reboot my computer every time Firefox hangs... Which is all the time.

    Anyone with very similar problems, please see my posts above.

    ===Hi berndf,===
    Sorry you are having problems.
    I know this can not be affecting everyone. I have tried Fx36.0.1 on Windows 7 and do not notice any particular problems, although it may possibly sometimes take a few minutes for Firefox to fully close down. I do not think there is a very big surge in this sort of question being seen on the forum.
    If you don't mind please start your own question, that way we get your full details and can try to solve your problem.
    It is probable that there are multiple possible causes of this sort of issue.
    I often try to avoid using Windows. Must admit I am not sure why processes may exist but not allow Task Manager to kill them (Presumbly we are talking ''firefox.exe'' here running under your own user name and not some system process)
    That is straying into a Windows topic, but it is directly relevant. Any Windows expert wish to enlighten me please ?

  • Firefox hangs when trying to save a file, even after removing firefox and reinstalilng afresh

    I recently experienced firefox hanging/freezing indefinitely when trying to save files, such as pdf files. The same pdf files open fine within the browser if I do not select "save link as...", but the problem occurs when I try to save such a file. The problem is similar regardless of the file type (e.g., .mp3, .txt). Not only did I go through the recommended solutions that mozilla suggests when file downloads hang, but I uninstalled firefox completely (removing all files with user settings), and then reinstalled firefox afresh without any plugins or add-ons, and I still have the same file save problem. It may also be worth mentioning that this problem does not occur in internet explorer or chrome. Maybe a system file that firefox uses got corrupted (?), but I don't know which one or how to repair it if that indeed is the problem.
    My system is running XP, and I have McAfee AV installed (which has not been a problem in the past).

    Early on I tried starting firefox in safe mode as one possible fix, and that didn't solve the problem. I just tried again right now with the fresh installation, and still no luck.
    Any other ideas?

  • Why does firefox hang up and say it "got confused", when I try to switch from using facebook as myself to using facebook as a page I manage?

    firefox hangs up and says it "got confused", when I try to switch from using facebook as myself to using facebook as a page I manage.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Firefox hangs many times..

    Firefox hangs many times.It's very annoying. It crashes after a pop up which says :
    (Warning: Unresponsive Plugin; Shock wave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding.)
    I updated the flash player another day but still this problem continued. Some other day a similar kind of pop up came but it didn't said anything about Shock wave flash but it is a script problem.Firefox always hangs because of some script problem. When i open Windows media player, Photoshop on the other side..Firefox hangs. I never had any problem with Firefox before.

    The 2 plugins which are out of date are java-deployment-toolkit and Adobe Acrobat.I never use to update them.Can that cause this problem too ?

  • Firefox hang in task list after closing successfully

    OS: windows 7 32 and 64-bit
    Symptom: firefox can be open can close "properly" without error message. But when you look in the task list, firefox is still there. You still can open firefox without problem. It will add another process if you close it. So more and more processes in the task list if you repeating open and close after surfing some web sites. You cannot kill the task, even you are administrator. The only way to get rid of it is to re-start the PC.
    It happens in 3 of my PCs.

    Most often hanging at exit is caused by Extensions, maybe plugins. Try Firefox Safe Mode; don't check any items, just click "Continue to Safe Mode". http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

  • Why does firefox hang when opening and takes several minutes to come up?

    Why does Firefox hang for several minutes before coming up?

    I am also having this problem. When trying to reboot, I get an endless cycle of the BIOS screen, then "MACHINE ERROR", then back. Running the same dmesg command as snoxu results in a similar error message. I am forced to shutdown by holding the power button. Upon rebooting, I get an error message that all extensions have been turned off (using Gnome Shell). Then I have to logout and login.
    Shutting down and then restarting works fine.

    == This happened ==
    A few times a week
    == Not sure when it statrted

    Hi.
    When this happens, please press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and see how much RAM and CPU Firefox is using. If they're sky high, then... Well, that kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
    #run Firefox in safe-mode to disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #disable all extensions and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
    #you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons.
    Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix you issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't do it, I'm out of ideas. Except make sure you've followed my instructions correctly.
