Firefox hangs & doesn't respond when I try to login to ebay

Practically everytime I try to log into ebay the page hangs.
If it goes straight to the hour-glass - then 'programme not responding ' is displaying. I have to switch off - then the 'ending programme box' ( ? or whatever it's called) comes up.
Sometimes the hand is displayed & then it will either go to the arrow & then after some time may finally allow logging-in or it will go to the hour-glass & the above happens.
Each time this happens I have to restart the computer.
Sometimes this has happened on paypal too - but no other site that I use.
I think the issue may be with adobe reader as I tried updating the adobe plug ins - Flash & reader but this seemed to make it worse, so I went back to the versions I already had. When I removed Flash I was able to log-in but it took ages as previously described - but I needed to reinstall it for programmes I use.
Not sure what's caused it as this has been getting progressively worse over the past couple of weeks & I'm not sure what's happened to trigger it. Other than I've started selling things on ebay?

I have, by process of elimination, realized that when using the setting "allow third party cookies - 'never' ", causing my firefox to hang so much that I cannot use it. I have used that setting "allow third party cookies - 'never' ", for as long as it has been available. The problem is that "third party" includes both related servers and advertising networks; the setting is too crude to accomplish the objective of blocking tracking cookies that you don't want.
My compromise is to accept all third party cookies, but set cookie lifetime to "Keep until: I close Firefox." As a result, tracking is limited in time, even if during any given session I can be seen on different sites. (I also use the NoScript extension, so many ads driven by scripts never load.)

Firefox hangs up on me when I try watching a video

When I try watching a video, the browser itself freezes up one. The only way I'm able to get it unfreezed is by ending the program via the task manager.

I'm confused by that. If you end the Firefox process, Firefox should close immediately and not play anything.
Could you try the new Reset feature? This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder (AKA Firefox profile folder) into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.

If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back if you like using Firefox's Profile Manager. (This article describes how to start Firefox in the profile manager. Firefox hangs on black screen when I try to start. has worked fine for months. droid 2 global android 2.2.3

have used firefox most of this year. update to lates ver about 2 days ago. worked ok until late yesterday when hung up on google search. now just get black screen and sometimes get system "! Sorry" msg that "activity Firefox is not responding."

Do you have your data saved or synced? You can clear data from settings-> applications and it should work as new.
(i guess you have killed the app by now and did not work)

I recently installed Lion on my MacBook Pro (2010). Since then, almost every time I put my mac to sleep it doesn't respond when I try to wake it up. I must say that everything seems to be working, and I recently reset the PRAM and the NVRAM.

Why does keyboard not respond when I try to login?

When I boot up can only get as far as login page, keyboard and mouse do not respond

TonyE is correct the plugin version comes with Adobe's Reader X.
The failure in communication is two parted:
1. Reader X is not Acrobat (Mozilla Plugin Checker)
2. Acrobat is not mentioned in the Reader X download Page (Adobe)
therefore confused clients.

Firefix stops responding when I try to open a web page

The Firefox browser page turns white & says not responding when I try to go to a web page. This happens every time I try to go to a web page in a new tab. This only started happening after I did the last Firefox update.

Premiere doesn't respond when rendering.

My adobe premiere pro 5.5 doesn't respond when I'm rendering a video. It works fine, until it reaches around 86% when the tab comes up that it has stopped working, and windows is looking for a solution.
THis is very frustrating, especially after the video has been rendering after 2 hours.

Welcome to the forum, LotusS.
Please elaborate on what you mean by "render." Some people use "render" as synonymous with "export" or "encode," but in Premiere we distinguish between rendering and exporting/encode. Rendering is reserved for creating preview files for smoother playback within PPRO, whereas exporting/encoding covers writing a sequence out to an output clip.
If you're talking about rendering preview files, then the first question is whether that's even necessary. In Premiere Pro, you need to render only if playback is not smooth and fluid; if you're satisified with playback without rendering, then don't bother.
If rendering preview files is desirable, then to isolate the cause of the hang, I'd render the sequence in segments by setting in & out points. Since the process is hanging at 86%, you could start by rendering the first three-quarters. Assuming that succeeds, then do smaller segments of the last 25% until you find the spot where it hangs. Then examine that section for an asset or effect or transition that's causing problems.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Thanks for your solution, it wasn't quite what solved the problem but i remembered that i had a bit of salt water on my phone recently and spraying the charging port with an anti-oxide spray solved my problem, do you mind if i ask, how is the charging port related with the volume or/and speakers?

Safari stops responding when I try to bookmark (and other slow problems!)

Two weeks ago my logicboard died, so I sent my ibook out to Apple for it to be fixed. Ever since I got it back this past Tuesday, my Safari has been extremely slow, but nothing else is wrong with my computer. Here are the problems:
- The biggest issue is that Safari stops responding when I try to make a bookmark. The popup appears to select the bookmark's destination and to enter the name, but when you hit ok, the rainbow wheel comes up and it stops responding, so I have to reset Safari, and now I can't make new bookmarks at all.
- It lags when it tries to open new windows, especially new tabs.
- If a new page loads that scrolls at all, and then I try to scroll down, the wheel appears for several seconds until it can load the rest of the page. It's as though it gets stuck before it can scroll.
- Sometimes when typing, it will also start to lag behind my typing speed, or if I try to click on a new field, it will not immediately allow me to type on occasion.
All these things have never happened before I sent it out. I have reset my cache, and I have tried entering the open DNS addresses in my networks, which has improved loading speed, but hasn't fixed any of these problems. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how I can fix anything?

Try verifying the hard disk.
Boot from your restore disk while holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo, then let go of the C key. You'll see an Installation window, select English. From the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, then click Verify. If DU reports errors, click Repair. If Disk Utility cannot repair the disk you have several options. One is DiskWarrior or
TechToolPro If Disk Utility can repair any errors, go back to the Menu Bar, click Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
If you don't have a restore disk, try booting into Safe Mode

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?
