Firefox Help

I'm setting up my new iMac and installed Firefox as my internet browser. If I close all the browser windows, it won't open another window even by clicking on File>New Window or using keyboard shortcuts. I have to close the program entirely and reopen it to be able to open a window.
I have also noticed that whenever a button or link prompts a new window to be opened, Firefox will not open it. I disabled the pop-up blocking preference, but it still blocks any new window or tab from being opened. It evens blocks Dreamweaver's attempts when I try to preview my work in a new Firefox window.
Any ideas?

Erin .... before suggesting fixes, it is essential to list the specs of your "new iMac", since you have posted your problem on a forum that deals with issues of the older (but beautiful) flat panel G4 _gooseneck/lampshade model_.
Your hardware/software signature indicates the latest version of Leopard, which suggests you might have the 1GHz or 1.25GHz processor of the "gooseneck".
Please repost with total RAM and processor speed.
Looking ahead for the moment, FireFox has just issued an updated version 3.0.1 for Tiger/Leopard, which might correct your issues.

I can no longer scroll with the button on my touch pad. Have tried everything on Firefox help and still can't scroll....HELP please.

I have just updated to the Firefox 4 Beta and from having no problems at all with the previous version I can now no longer scroll. I have reloaded my touch pad drivers and also been onto "about:config" and altered various things suggested by 'firefox help' and still no luck. The scroll button on the touch pad does still work as I can still scroll in Thunderbird and any of the other programs that I use, just not with Firefox any longer. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

Since today the scrolling started to work for me. Was there a fix auto installed? I havent updated anything that I know about.
I might have uninstall an old Java JRE, don't remember when I did it, could that have done it?

A Firefox Help page appears for a moment, and is then wiped, in FF4RC

I go to the Firefox Help Page 'Viewing video in Firefox without a plugin', and the body content appears for a few moments (on my Vista laptop), and then disappears, leaving only the Title,the Contributors line, a block of white space, the nurse pussycat image and text block. The stuff on the RHS is OK.
I get the same on this w7 laptop, except I don't see the proper page at all (possibly because this laptop is quicker?).
On 3.6.15, on both laptops, the page appears correctly, I think.
I guess my question is can someone who knows how to submit a formal bug report on FF4 see if they can reproduce this, and if so, then please submit such a report?
Or you could maybe tell me what I'm doing wrong; though as it fails on two separate laptops in FF4, and works on both in FF3.6.15, I don't think I am doing anything wrong.
I've added troubleshooting info below, obediently, but I doubt it's needed...

I'll make a note of that in the correct forum about specifically stating when an article doesn't apply to Firefox 4.0.

Tools > Downloads or {Ctrl + J} will open the Downloads window

Gmail will only load basic view on all of my computers in my home. Firefox help says I am using outdated version while "about Firefox" says I am updated. sa

Gmail started only loading on basic view about five days ago. It will not load regularly on any of the three computers in my home. I checked my browser (Firefox) and when I click on Firefox help it says that I am using an outdated version but when I click on About Firefox to update it - it says that it is all ready updated to 4.0
I have cleared my cache and cookies.

As I type a web address in Firefox, Firefox Help opens before I can finish the address. How can I prevent this?

If I use bookmarks the browser works and on occasion I can type an address and have it work, but most times typing anything, even one key stroke; any keystroke, immediately opens Firefox Help.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You may also have a hardware problem with the keyboard like a sticky F1 key that still works in Firefox 3.6.
Please update Firefox to the latest version via "Help > About Firefox" or "Help > Check for Updates" 
The Firefox 3.6.2 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.

Trouble w/Norton Identity Safe and Registration and Log In to Firefox Add-ons and Firefox Help pages

I don't understand it, but now it let me login that time to give more details. So, I don't know...this is very confusing to get an updated Version (8) and not have Norton Identity Safe. I've rebooted, run the Norton Live Update several times.
Then, the Firefox Help wouldn't let me log in to the page, said I already existed, but wouldn't let me have access to the page. Then, once I asked the question, it recognizes me. Very confusing stuff.
Could not sign in to the Firefox Add-on page, either.

How do I rid the User Account Control - "Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?" - FireFox Helper pop-up that shows after every log in?

The following pop-up is displayed after every log-in, even after it is clicked yes after previous log-ins. Several students log-in the computers daily. How do I rid THIS?:

In Windows 7, Microsoft updated UAC in several ways. By default, UAC does not prompt when certain programs included with Windows make changes requiring elevated permissions. Other programs still trigger a UAC prompt. The strictness of UAC can be changed to either always prompt, or to never do so.

In the About Firefox Help window what does, "You are currently on the default update channel" mean?

Firefox cannot perform an automatic update when running as a normal user on my system (it just spins when connecting to the update server) so normally when it notifies me of an update I run the application as root, open the About Firefox dialog and select update Firefox. 
I was recently notified of an update to Firefox 7.0.1 (or 7.1 not positive) so I ran Firefox as root and opened the About Firefox box. 
This time instead of showing me "An update is available. Click here to update." it displayed "You are currently on the '''default''' update channel". 
What does this mean?

Mine says "the '''release''' update channel" on Windows. I believe this helps you know whether Firefox is checking for new official releases or new beta test releases. I don't know what '''default''' update channel indicates.

Import and Backup is the third (last) button on the toolbar in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) that looks like a star. 
Other platforms show the text label, but on Mac you only see toolbar icons.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

"Creative ZenCast" in Firefox help window?

I don't use ZenCast (I'm happy with Juice), and it was only installed in the package of creative software, why should it show up on firefox, are creative trying to track my version somehow using the browser. How do I get rid of this?

I how do I retrieve a username for Firefox Help if I have forgotten it?

Firefox Help menu hang fixed (I think).

I recently installed Snow Leopard--not a clean install, just a regular upgrade--and discovered a vexing issue with Firefox 3.5.3--any time I clicked on the Firefox Help menu, FF would hang with a spinning pinwheel cursor.
First, I disabled all of my FF add-ons, extensions, themes, etc. No change. Next I uninstalled all of those things. No change.
Finally, I went into my Library folder and trashed all of the Firefox settings files I could find, then re-installed a fresh copy of Firefox, and now the problem seems to have disappeared.
I hope this is helpful to someone.
