Firefox Home not syncing passwords

I've installed Firefox Sync on my home desktop and Firefox Home on my iPod Touch.
Selected "sync everything" and now on my iPod I have all my bookmarks and tabs correctly synced.
However when I go to a bookmark which on my desktop automatically remembers the username/password, on the iPod the page loads but none of the password fields have been automatically entered.
Obviously something isn't syncing correctly, but the help system offers no advice on how to solve the problem.
I've tried refreshing everything, closing and opening the app (on desktop and iPod) but still no success.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry, the current version of Firefox Home for iPhone/iPod does not sync passwords. It only syncs tabs, bookmarks, and history.
You can sync passwords in Firefox on your Mac, Windows, and Linux computers, and in Firefox for Maemo and Android phones.

Firefox does not sync the bookmarks icons. Why?

Having the same problem. Uninstall and reinstall did not help. Is there any progress on this? I'm using the latest android OS, and sync is working just fine on my other devices. The android phone is syncing my tabs but not my bookmarks.

• Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a pasword in the view password window and now it not asking me to remember and also it is not remembering the password when I go

Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a password for a site that was not remembering the correct password for the "view password" window and now it does not guess the password and does not remember the password for that site. All other sites are being remembered.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== After I deleted the password from the view password window.

The saved password feature worked well, but the site I had saved the password for required that I change the password. I have found no way to update the password in Firefox. After I deleted the saved password, Firefox did not ask if I wanted the new password saved. When this happened before, I removed and re-installed Firefox, and then it worked. I hope there is another way to update a password.

• I've entered my email and password yet Firefox is not syncing?

I did a factory restore on a friends computer. Then once I installed Firefox and put in her email address and password for sync none of her tabs or bookmarks from Firefox before the factory restore are showing up. What have I done wrong?

Nettyprofessor,
Firefox Sync will only sync what is locally stored on the user's profile. Do you have a back up of the profile from before the restore? This would be the only way to get that data back.

• Sync does not sync passwords

I recently set up a new computer with Firefox and Firefox Sync, entered my sync key, everything got synced, except the passwords. When I looked in the "quotum details" window, i noticed there is no indication of how much data I'm using for my passwords...

1. Xmarks replaced Foxmarks a few years ago, when they added other browsers beyond Firefox to their service. Xmarks hasn't shut down yet, that was planned for early January 2011. That may not even happen - UPDATE: Xmarks Sync NOT Dead Yet - http://www.xmarks.com/about/shutdown
2. In Sync preferences there are 5 items to select for what type of data is sync'd. '''Firefox will: Sync everything''' is the default setting. Any chance you changed a setting there?
3. "not very good" - in your opinion. Sync wasn't created to mimic other services, like Xmarks. The developers included the features that they think are important and are trying to keep it uncomplicated as they can. Being able to view your data on the Sync server would have greatly complicated the encryption of your data and the retrieval of that data from the server. Unlike Xmarks, your Firefox Sync data is encrypted as it leaves your PC and then unencrypted when it is downloaded to Firefox or Firefox Home on another device. Your "Sync Key" is only good in Firefox, so your data can only be read in Firefox - no one else has access to your data in an unencrypted format.
4. To recover your data from the Sync server, you either install the Sync extension on Firefox 3.6 or install Firefox 4 which includes Sync (once it is released) and you setup your account information on the new installation. You then sync the new installation with the data that is on the server.
5. As far as speed of the sync goes, while the initial sync might take 30 to 45 minutes, subsequent syncing is done very quickly depending upon the differences in your data between the device and the server.

• Firefox won't sync passwords between computers

Hello,
I recently got a new desktop computer and would like to move my Firefox data from my laptop. Using sync, I have successfully transferred my bookmarks. However, my passwords are not syncing.
I do not have a master password enabled and I have clicked the option to sync passwords on both devices. When I use the Options menu to view my saved passwords on both computers, I can definitely see that the many passwords I have saved on the laptop have not made it over to the desktop. I have tried restarting Firefox on both devices. I do also have the latest version of Firefox on both.

and what really pissed me off was he said that he would make sure that all my information would copy and paste over to the new firefox.. yeah NOT, I'm having to go back and add all my tabs/websites. what I do love about Firefox is the pinning of tabs and remembers passwords/information. again Thanks

After an online session, Firefox (6.0.1) crashed and a crash report was sent. After that, Firefox would not start and the crash window kept coming up. I uninstalled it and did a new install. • Firefox is not storing passwords

Using a PC with XP.
I intalled Firefox 4.01 having first removed Firefox 3.
I used an add-on the transfer passwords backed up from 3 to 4.
Most passwords were copied over but some were not.
My problem is that although I have the option "Remember passwords for sites" ticked. This does not happen.
When I enter username and password for a new site, Firefox does not offer to store the password and the password in not recorded.
I do have the add-on Better Privacy 1.50 installed. I tried disabling this but it made not difference.
If all else fails, is there a way of adding username/password manually?

• Firefox will not sync on new laptop though it does sign in to sync

I bought a new laptop and downloaded firefox. I then signed in to sync. All seemed ok and the message popped up that it would syn momentarily. It does not sync anything even though it shows as signed in. I have rebooted the browser and pc and tried every thing I can imagine. I even signed the old laptop out of firefox syn just in case that was the issue. Please help.

It says: Setup Complete
Your data is now being encrypted and uploaded in the background. You can close this tab and continue using Firefox.
The old laptop has version 33.1.1 - it is up to date.

• Firefox will not sync between home computer and laptop

I recently got a used laptop. after i cleaned it my first order of business was to install Firefox. I already use Firefox on my home computer and have been using the sync feature since it came out. I installed the newest version of Firefox onto both computers (33.1.1) and deleted my old sync account and made a brand new one. I then linked the new laptop using the new account. I log in, and a pop up appears saying "your sync will start shortly" yet NOTHING happens. Both computers are running the newest versions of Firefox and both are logged into the NEW sync account I made today (11/23/14) Why isn't it syncing. Ive scoured the internet all day to try to figure this out but all I've been pointed to his the Firefox FAQ page, which doesn't help me at all

Hi ThatOneColt,
Thank you for your question, I understand that after setting up the new sync account that nothing from the two computers are syncing. When you did a new clean reinstall on the old laptop, was the old profile preserved?
If not, it is possible to further investigate any error messages if you turn on the logs: * How do I turn on sync logs:
# Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
# Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log

• Firefox will NOT sync since adding password integration add-on for my macs. Is there a plan to resolve this conflict? Once I uncheck password sync works.

I continue to obtain a sync error with unknown error. After spend a few hours online and troubleshooting, I determined by un-checking password sync, no errors were received. I added the add-on for Mac password integration and can only conclude that adding this feature has conflicted with my sync. Does anyone know of any issues or are there fixes already in place I am unaware. I am at that point to return to Safari for my macs due to this and other issues I have been having with Firefox. Thanks.

Hi KevMB,
Thank you for your question. I would recommend you try the new Firefox Sync, however currently it is available in beta starting Thursday.
If the device is already authenticated and is syncs automatically, then the password does not have to be added every time. I do not understand how the Mac password integration works as you describe it to.
If you are talking about choosing to sync stored passwords across devices please select any duplicates that may be stored in the profile under the preferences.

• Firefox does not sync

Hi,
I've set up my own sync server and runs very well. I am able to sync
between the desktop versions of Firefox without any issues.
When I try to login to an existing sync account from my Android device
(Relase and the beta version), after entering the user name, password,
key and URL ( https://my.url.com/mozsync/ ), Firefox complains with this
error message:
"Please enter valid server URL"
I don't use any self signed certificates and I don't get any certificate
warning when I connect to other services running on this host.
It looks like, that the Firefox Android browser isn't doing anything, because I don't see log on the sync server.

The URL I've entered is correct, including the leading https:// . The server runs on the standard https port 443 and I'm using official ssl certificates.
I have to say, that the sync server does not run on the webserver root. The URL in my case is something like https://my.domain.com/mozsync/ .
As mentioned, the desktop Browser syncs perfectly.

• Firefox is not syncing my two merged computers.

I set up my sync account between two computers. My main computer seems to update changes made in the new computer, but the new computer does not get synced with the old/original computer, at least not the bookmarks, which are extensive. I believe I set up the sync to merge the computers' data on both computers. How do I make Firefox on both my computers identical?

Same problem here... First i had to update my firefox to the shittest new version which i hate... The more firefox desktop updates the worse it gets. I'm still using firefox 28 cause its the best version ever...
Anyways so i updated my fiefox to latest 32 something version and installed firefox beta on android. It syncs everything except passwords. And no, i do not use the master password its always disabled!
Can somebody tell me how to sync the passwords from firefox desktop to android on latest version and perhaps maybe on firefox 28 to if thats still possible?
I can only say that syncing doesn't work for me on the latest firefox 32 and android beta firefox!
