Firefox Icon Replaced by Application icon after crash & repair, where can I get a copy compatible with Mac OSX 10.2.4?
Recoveryng from a disk crash and Firefox icon in the genie bar vanished after running MAC Disk Utility and now has the "Application" (the A formed by a pen, pencil & ruler) icon instead. Will not launch. Need a version that will run Mac OS X 10.2.4. Is there page on this site to get a compatible version or some wherelse I can get one? Have very some old .dmg copies of earlier version 2.0.0.7 but can not find more recent copies or the one I was running befor the crash. I know , I know I need to update my old G4 but for economic reasons ( I do not have the $$) I can not do so now.

Hey all. I have a G505s, model 20255. When taking the bottom cover off (the cover that protects the RAM, hard drive, wifi, etc) I broke some clips because - being stupid - I didn't read the instructions first! IDIOT!
Anyway, where can I buy a replacement bottom cover for this machine? I can install it myself (now that I know what I'm doing *eye roll*)
Any ideas?

Where can I get a copy of Firefox 4.0 or 5.0 to replace the Firefox 6.0 that I have now?
Go back to Firefox 4 or 5 and quit messing with what was a good browser. I had Yahoo as my home page and it was a nice non glaring shade of brown that didn't hurt ones eyes, now it is so damn bright with all of the colors that are available with Firefox 6.0 that it gives me a headache.

when I click to open the internet through Mozilla Firefox, I get this message; "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application."
When I do this, I have to click on it twice before the box goes away. I still can't access the internet through Mozilla.Well, if they are private range IPs it does not make any difference. Everybody use them.

This is not the first time that Firefox has disappeared from my computer; however, there was always a version on the mozilla site to download. I can't find one now but expect older versions are still available for download. Can you help me out?
Not unless they were saved somewhere on your computer. You can check the Time Machine if that storage has been used and wasn't reset as well.

Where can i get a copy of the recovery disk after factory reset?
Hi, im wondering if anybody can help? i have a macbook thats a few years old and think it runs on 10.6 snow leopard. However i cant find the recovery disk. After sending it in to the shop to have more memory added, full back up onto an external hard drive and full factory resetits asking to be booted from the recovery disk. Can i download OSX 10.8 to drop onto a USB stick and load it onto the macbook? Thanks for any help

I have tried all posted means to restore default settings to my navigation toolbar. Are there other ways?
I was a strong supporter of Firefox until this happened. None of the fixes have worked...and besides why should I have to waste my time trying to fix it in the first place. I lost a lot of time and information with this situation and Firefox provides no support for itself that I can see. No...I've switched to Google Chrome and Firefox will have a serious uphill climb getting me back or preventing me from warning others off their product. FIREFOX HAS COST ME SEVERAL HOURS...NO...DAYS REPAIRING THIS DAMAGE. I won't be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god we still have the freedom to chose in this country...at least for now.
P.S. I hope Firefox goes the way of Netscape. I was once a supporter of their product too...but they blew it bad... -
I recently updated to Firefox 8 and ever since I have done that, I can't get it to open. Every time I click on the icon on my desktop to open it, it crashes. I have tried all the steps in the Firefox crashes article and I can't figure out what is wrong. How can I fix this?

My old mac was requested to upgrade Firefox to 14.0.1. After the sucessfully installation, I received a message saying my old Mac couldn't use the new Firefox and Safari crashes. I have NO browser now! Any help would be appreciated.
Hmmm... So you upgraded Firefox and now neither Firefox or Safari will work? Very weird. I have no idea what might have gone wrong. That said, when things start acting wierd, I always try a bit of maintenance first. About 95% of the time, I luck out and it works.
I use the free program Onyx. I run all the clean up routines. Then I boot to the recovery partition (Lion) or the OS X Install Disc and repair permissions and verify/repair the hard disk.

The one with the dinosaur icon before the browser turned firefox. Thanks, JenPhoenix and Firebird were what Firefox was called before Firefox was settled on in 2004, and both used "birds" as the logo. IIRC, the dinosaur was used in the Mozilla Suite.

Icon hidden behind Application icon on dock - OS X Maverick
I have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.
Any ideas?Do you mean the Applications icon on the right side of the dock?
It is the icons for your applications and they are stacked on top of each other.
The top icon will be the first app in your Applications folder and under that will be the next app in the Applications folder etc.
Depending on the size of the icons, you may see 3 or 4 icons on top of each other.
Here is mine.
The first few apps are 1Password, 1Password4, Adobe Reader and this shows those icons. -
My iMac Seagate 1T hard drive crashed. I replaced it with a Western Digital 1T hard drive. Where can I get the Lion OS?
The iMac comes up with a ? in a folder, even after starting with Option/Command/R keys pressed.

Drive Preparation and Install Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
7. When completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard. Once you boot from Snow Leopard you should open Software Update and install all the available updates required. After you complete this and restart the computer open the App Store application in the Dock or Applications folder.
8. Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password. Purchase and download Lion.
9. After Lion's installer downloads, install Lion. -

Many Thanks.You can't download the Mac OS. You'll need to buy the 10.6 Snow Leopard install disk. They're $29 USD in the United States.
Once you have it put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. You should see your hard drive in the left hand column along with your other drives. Click on the drive and select the Erase tab. Set the format value to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Erase button. After that has finished select the Partition tab. Type in a Name for your hard drive and select how many partitions you want from the Volume Scheme. The usual setting is one partition. Click on the Options button after you've selected a partition to make sure it's set for GUID. Then click the Apply button and after the Partitioning is done quit Disk Utility. You can now follow the instructions on the install screen -
