Firefox in taskbar icon, changes back?

Hello.
I changed the firefox icon with resource hacker and if I open it from the firefox folder everything is fine, but when I pin it to the taskbar and open it, it turns back to the original icon and stays like this.
I tried this already, no success.
https://support.mozilla.org/de/questions/844131#answer-270774
Can anyone help me? I really want a custom icon to go along with the rest of my theme, but it seems the firefox doesn't want this :P
I'm running Windows 7 x64

Do NOT use resource hacker to change your icon because it might make firefox unstable. Instead, use this :
* Unzip omni.ja in your Firefox application directory.
* Delete omni.ja or rename it (e.g. omni.ja.off).
* Create directories icons/default in the Firefox chrome application directory.
* Copy the icon file you want to chrome/icons/default/main-window.ico
* Start Firefox and enjoy your new icon

  • How do i save my cookie setting in "firefox will" it always changes back

I cannot save the setting "use custom settings for history" and after checking "accept cookies sites" to enable cookies, there is no place where i can save the setting, so it keeps going back to previous settings.

Firefox shows the "(Never) Remember history" setting if all the history and cookie setting are the default.
Make at least one change to the default setting if you want "Use custom settings for history" to stay selected.
Otherwise Firefox will revert to "(Never) Remember history" if you return to the Privacy tab.
The choice "Use custom settings for history" will stay selected as long as not all settings are the default to make you aware that you made changes.

  • When I try to open firefox, the taskbar icon expands and associated sound starts to play, but the window itself doesn't appear.

I run Windows 7. I installed Adobe CS4, and when I tried to open Firefox after, got a popup window with a list of errors. I don't remember what they were specifically, but I believe they related to the Adobe flash plug-in. I restarted the computer, and subsequently got even less: the icon in the taskbar exanded, associated sound from the webpages I had tabbed started to play, but the window itself did not appear, not even in the preview. However, it closed normally when I clicked the red X in the preview window or when I right-clicked the icon and selected Close Window

  • Firefox icon changes to default Windows icon after a few days

Downloaded Firefox browser on new HP Pavilion dv6. After a couple of days, Firefox icon changes to default Windows program icon. Uninstalled Firefox and re-installed. After a few days, the icon changed back to default Windows program icon. I cannot manually change icon back under Properties setting as default program icon is now associated with Firefox program. Laptop is 64-bit, and program is installed under Windows x86 folder.
Is this a Microsoft setting issue? Or do I need a different download for 64-bit?

  • Folder icon changes to envelopes

Twice in the last week the icons in Workflow have changed from the folder icon to envelopes and our users have not been able to open any Workflow items. Any idea what is causing this? I have had to restart the services on our Workflow server. Then the icons change back from envelopes to folders and all is OK. I would like to prevent this from happening again in the future if possible.

  • Firefox 31 changes all PDF icons to Firefox HTML icons that I can not seem to change back, can this be rectified? Using Windows XP.....

Once Firefox 31 is installed it sees all PDF files as Firefox HTML files and changes all of the PDF icons to Firefox HTML icons. This change can not seem to be reversed without uninstalling Firefox.
Only the icon is changed, not the .PDF extension.

Thank you for your reply but it's not that simple:
Windows now thinks that the default file type for .pdf is Firfox HTML Document.
I can change which program opens .pdf files but I can't change the icon.
    Not a Firefox problem? Really?
    EDIT:
Let me explain further so that you can understand. In folder options / file types I can scroll thru and choose any file type / advanced and change the icon...every one of them except (now) .pdf. There is no advanced tab. Only the message about "restore" I mentioned before.
Firefox changed the file association for .pdf files and now I can't fix it.
    And from another thread:
"Firefox 31 is not converting or renaming your files. All it is doing is registering with the Windows OS as an application that is able to open the files and Windows then changes the file's icons accordingly.
This should only occur if no other application has already registered your .pdf files."
Well I guess that's not true is it?

  • When I open Firefox my screen resolution changes and when I fix it on the computer it auto changes back in 10 seconds. I looked at the compatibility and nothing is checked. This started out of nowhere.

I have used FF for about a year on my Dell Inspiron 15 and now every time I open it the resolution changes on me. If I close FF everything goes back to normal resolution. No problems with other browsers just FF. I went into the properties and tried to fix the compatibility but nothing was checked. I checked for any new updates that happened automatically but there haven't been any for days before this started. I have all my Grad school bookmarks on FF and I don't want to uninstall.

This can be a problem with the localstore.rdf file.

Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.<br />
Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

  • Cookie permissions change back to allow every time Firefox is started

OK, here's the deal. Recently I noticed that cookies were being allowed despite having them disallowed. After messing around I discovered that despite having cookies unchecked, every time I launch FF, the cookies automatically become enabled (both accept cookies & cookies from 3rd party sites is checked). I removed Cookie Monster & the same thing happened. I already deleted the prefs.js file and this did no good. At the time, I have Toggle Cookies installed, which I have to click every time FF launches. When launched, It starts out as denied, and then it changes to allowed. Once I click the icon & set it to deny, then the check marks in the boxes go away. So, why are cookie settings automatically being set to allow each time I launch FF?
I wonder if DoNotTrack had something to do with this? I have removed it from FF. I also have Ghostery, but up until a week ago, Ghostery & Cookie Monster played well together.
Anyone have any ideas? Has the browser been infected with something? Also noted today, launching FF in safe mode shows that the settings for the cookies do not change back to allowed. Apparently something running in regular mode is causing the problem. Other plug ins present on the browser are: NoScript, Foxy Proxy, AdBlock plus, Quick Java, & Norton toolbar.

Do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
*Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • I downloaded a music software and then deleted it. It changed my homepage designation and I can't get it to change back to Firefox. I do know how to change this but it is not working. Can you help?

The music software is imesh and I have changed my homepage designation with Firefox, in my internet options for Windows. Every time I close the page, the homepage changes back to imesh search page. I have deleted imesh from my computer including going to windows explorer and deleting all imesh that I can find to no avail.

Steps to remove iMesh as your homepage:<BR>
    # In the address bar, type '''about:config''' and press Enter.
    # In the '''Filter''' textbox at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''
    # You will be presented with the entry for keyword.URL
    # Double-click on it, delete the string and press OK.
    # Exit from Firefox.
Next, you need to set the desired website as your homepage. Open Firefox and follow the instructions given in this article: [[How to set the home page]].

  • I hid the Taskbar Icon now How do I get it back?

I hid the Taskbar Icon now How do I get it back?

That is set in the remote control policy under the general tab. There is a
check box to check if you want the icon showing or not.
Remember that if you have policies set to users AND workstations, that the
policies may conflict. It will all depend on how you have them scheduled.

    Hello Mandy.
I can't think of a scenario where Firefox would make itself the default browser against the user's consent. Still, go into Tools > Options > Advanced > General > System defaults and untick that small box at the bottom of the window that talks about Firefox asking you each time it starts.
Hopefully that will fix the issue.

  • How do I re-set Google Search to my actual location? I can change back and forth in other browsers, but in Firefox my change is stuck on a different city and I cannot get it to change back.

I changed my location in Google so I could do a search in another city. Then when I tried to change it back to my location, it stays stuck on the "other" city. I went into Google search settings and tried it on the search page and no changes were saved.
I tried it on Chrome and Safari and had no problems going from one to another and having everything save as I wanted, yet in Firefox it does not change.

    User fonts, those not require by the OS, are in two locations;
    Mac HD/Library/Fonts
    ~/Library/Fonts
I would see if the 11M+ fonts are in ~/Library/Fonts first. If so drag them to the Trash and restart.
