I have Firefox 3.6 on one user site on my cpt. I'm trying to use it on my Admin site but msg as noted keeps repeating even after I restart cpt.

when you restart your pc don`t click on force restart. For a better solution when you get this error just to a ctrl+alt+del go to your task manager/processes/firefox.exe /end process. that should fix your problem.

Firefox is already running, started with the latest upgrade

I have been running Firefox with Win7 for several months with no problems. Suddenly on two separate computers I'm frequently getting the error that Firefox is already running. I open the task manager, end the process, and it works fine. But it will happen again, not every time, but frequently enough that I'm certainly noticing. On one occasion I was unable to find a firefox process listed. But after trying to launch again and getting the error, I was able to find the process and stop it. That only happened once.

Thanks. I did look at the first thread. I know how to fix it each time, i.e., kill the process, but don't know how to prevent it from happening. As I said, something has changed. I realized after the post, that I've also recently upgraded my Norton's Internet Security to the 2013 version. That might also be related.
I don't experience Firefox hanging on close though I suppose if the process doesn't end then it is hanging on a system level. In other words, it appears to close normally every time. I'll take a look at that thread.

Do you have a profile lock file in your profile folder? If so, delete it and see if TB runs properly:

If I click a link on my desktop or in any other program (while Firefox is open and running), I get this message: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. Update firefox, it asked me to update flash, I tried to update flash but it said I had to close firefox. A box came up and said the Flash install would continue when I closed firefox. somehow i couldn't get rid of one website called www.searchqu.com/405 set as my homepage... Assuming it's Windows, right click a blank part of the Windows Taskbar and go to Task Manager. Then click the ''Processes ''tab, find '''firefox.exe''' and then right click it and choose '''End Process'''.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.

Firefox will be hanging for some reason. The quick solutions to kill the process and try again. The next step is to try to see if it will start and exit normally a couple of times, if so the problem is solved. If not the reason needs further investigation.
