Firefox is asking to close all tabs when I close a firefox popup message.

Open 2 or 3 sites in tab, and click a link which gives popup message, close the popup message, firefox asks to close all the tabs, which does not use to happen before in older versions. Please advice

For example, on the following link:
http://www.amazon.com/Clear2GO-Water-Bottle-with-Filter/dp/B002VPRKSC/ref=pd_sim_k_4
When I click on the water bottle image, a window pops up with an enlarged picture of the product. However, when I try to close the popup, it asks me if I want to close all my tabs.

  • Why doesn't Firefox close all tabs when exiting?

I see several users have problems with Firefox not saving tabs when closing..... My trouble is just the opposite: Firefox re-opens all tabs when restarting, even when "quit" is selected in closing.

Make sure that Firefox is closing properly, otherwise it may be considered as a rash and that causes Firefox to reopen those tabs automatically.<br />
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs and [[Firefox hangs]] (Hang at exit)
Firefox 3.5 and later versions will automatically try to restore the tabs and windows from the last session if a crash has occurred or Firefox wasn't closed properly the previous time.
Set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes] to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
    See:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Session_Restore#Preferences

    See also:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore#Firefox_keeps_crashing_after_restoring_a_session
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Can I set Thunderbird to close all tabs when I shut it down so the next session starts fresh.

I would prefer to have a clear work platform each time I start Thunderbird and only see tabs relevant to that session. If the program could be set to close all tabs automatically when I shut down, that would solve my problem.
    Thanks,
    Keith Marshall.

I guess your best bet is to right-click the most left tab - 'Close Other Tabs' before shutting down Thunderbird.

  • Firefox suddenly began asking if I wanted to close all tabs when I closed it, and although my setting is set to "Show my Windows and Tabs from last time" I open up to Google instead of my old tabs. Any solutions?

I can still recover my old tabs by going History> Recently Closed Windows but I'm worried about when I restart my computer.
Edit: While trying a reinstall I found out there was another firefox "running" even though it didn't show up in my taskbar. I went into task manager and ended the process. When I next opened firefox three windows opened up to the start page but froze (nothing but a white screen). After closing those from the task manager and trying again I got the "Well this is embarrassing" message and could no longer restore my old tabs. (I'd bookmarked them expecting this to happen eventually) For now everything seems to be back to normal, but this is still a pretty worrisome problem.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

*You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"

  • Firefox 4 tries to close all tabs when closing a pop-up. How do I stop this?

Just upgraded to Firefox 4 yesterday. It's great! EXCEPT every time a pop-up occurs, if I try to just click on the "x" to close the pop-up, Firefox wants to close all my tabs (and thus my browser).

  • I get a "Well this is embarrassing!" message from Firefox with tabs to close & I've already closed all tabs! How do I stop this message?

This suddenly started & nothing I do seems to make it stop. I had not been opening an unusual number of tabs & the message from Firefox lists 2 tabs that I have repeatedly closed. Please give me a solution in simple language. THANK YOU

hello, this is currently a problem in firefox when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • How do I configure Firefox 4.01 to save all tabs when closing the browser?

In the previous version 3.x.y of Firefox, when I closed the browser, it asked me if I wanted to save my open pages / tabs before closing. When I subsequently opened the browser again, it reloaded all the previously open tabs / pages. In version 4.01, before closing the browser warns me that I am closing multiple tabs but when I restart the browser again, it does not load the previously open tabs. How do I configure the browser to behave like the old 3.x.y version, i.e. neatly saving all the open tabs and loading these again when opening restarting the browser?

Hi TonyE, this was a very useful reply. The first part of your answer had already been posted by someone else. Your answer in particular shows the nitty gritty detail of how to automate it. I had searched in the options already but had not found step 3 above yet. But I have found it now and have changed it from "Home page" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time".
Thanks a lot for letting me know this solution and making me aware of the drop down list.

  • What can I delete and still have my all tabs when I restart firefox?

I need to have my tabs load, every time I open Firefox, but I want to do some housekeeping in my Tools>Options sections.
I've been searching and searching for hours, trying to find out what I can clear and have it not affect my tabs, but every explanation I've found has failed to answer the question in full, or fails to say anything about what (specifically) fracks with your tabs and what doesn't, or whatever. And then they'll make vague references to your "Cache" and not really say anything about what to do with it or why, while still managing to write you a whole essay of bullshit (I wrote, edited, and graded many a Psychology and Philosophy paper in school, so I usually have a high tolerance for it, but jeebus!).
If someone could please clear this up for me, that would be great. Preferably in a ''"Your Tabs will be fine if you do X, but not if you do Y, because..."'' kind of way. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a dick, but I'm exhausted, ill, and frustrated; I swear I'm usually much nicer!

Only clearing the Browsing History via Clear Recent History when Firefox is closed will prevent tabs from opening on the next start. All other choices can be used without problems.

  • Delete all tabs when Click Add-in

    Hi Experts,
When I open BPC Excel and multi tab excel  report  and  select add-in ,immediately tabs will close/disappear.I am unable to use add-in option. Please sugest.Thanksfor response
    Regds
    Prabhu

I didn't wuite get what your problem is, can you make a little bit clear?
Does this happens on all of the machines?
What version are you using? Office and BPC?
When excel is not behavoring right with plug-ins, what usually solves the problem is -
Excel Options -> Advanced > General section - > Unmark the option "Show plug-ins errors" (something like that, mine is in portuguese and i translated, it might not be like that in yours)
If it's only in one machine, try reinstalling the BPC client software.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why can't I click on the empty tab, when I want to empty the messages in my junk box?

When I am in my hotmail account, I try to select the empty tab in my junk box, but I can't select "empty". I am also having that same problem in other websites. For instance, I went into Jimmy John's and selected menu. But it wouldn't let me select menu.

Could you provi'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''

  • How to display a specific tab in a screen after a popup message

    Hi all,
I've a rewuirement where in i need to display a secific tab in a screen after popping up a warning message. To be specific, when i choose 'Yes' in the popup window, it shoud take me to a tab which is not active while displaying the warning popup.
    Thanks in advance....
    Anil Kumar Japa

    Hi
U need to active the tab you want to show:
So you should set the ok_code (of the tab) value to field ACTIVETAB
    <TABSTRIP>-activetab = <OK_CODE>.
And transfer the value of subscreen number to the subscreen area:
    CALL SUBSCREEN SUBSCREEN1
                 INCLUDING G_CTRL_TABSTRIP-PROG
                           G_CTRL_TABSTRIP-SUBSCREEN.

  • I would like to close one tab at a time rather than all tabs at once. How do I change this? Right now i am given only one choice "close"

I have installed Mazilla firefox. Since then I am having to close all open tabs at once, thereby having to start over at the website. I would like to have the option to close one or all tabs when I elect to close.

    Hello,
To close all tabs only close Firefox, do this by clicking on the '''X '''at the top right of the window, to close one tab just click on the '''x''' at the tab.

  • BOOKMARK ALL TABS FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING IN FIREFOX 21

After installing FF21 (win7 pro) when I tried to "bookmark all tabs" from an open tab context menu, instead of the place for the name of the save being blank, it had the name of an old bookmark that seemed to be random. I restarted FF and restarted in Safe Mode, but that did not fix anything. Then I reset FF and that did not fix anything. In fact now when I click Ctrl+Shift+D or use the tab context menu I get a dialog like I am saving a new bookmark, not bookmarking all tabs. There is a place for the
    Name
    Location
    Folder
    Tags
    Keyword
The only add-ons I activated after doing the reset are Numext 0.7.3, Theme and Font Changer 7.1, and Roboform 7.8.9.5, all of which I have been using for years with no prior problems.
Note: After doing the reset, I tried Bookmark all tabs before I enabled any add-ons, and experienced the same problem.
I have a screenshot of what I get when I try to use bookmark all tabs.

When I tried Ctrl+Shift+D, I was getting the Bookmark all tabs dialog box - the same one I have always gotten when I used the context menu, and the same one I have been getting for ages to bookmark all tabs. . See the screenshot
I tried deleting the places.sqlite files in both profiles, and that did not solve the problem, so I just completely uninstalled FF and reinstalled it. If I had the time I might have tried a bunch of other solutions, but reinstalling was much faster, as my bookmarks were recently backed up.
