Firefox is expanding to fill entire screen, no access to controls

There is something wonky going on. After I launch firefox which I have done for years, today its started automatically expanding to fill whole screen, no access to any controls, etc.
I did try to install software no such luck.
See attached screenshot -hmm how do I attach a screenshot.... well if I did you would JUST see the browser filling entire area of my screen (and no making it larger or smaller with mac controls does nothings)
you see the top bar for a SPLIT second then it moves up and all you get is this big screen.
Thanks - mac here 10. 6.08

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

  • I upgraded Firefox, and now there is a blue band on my screen above the window, and I'm not getting the full use of the screen in viewing web pages. How can I get the window to expand to fill the screen as it did before?

There is a horizontal band or gap above the Firefox window at the top of the screen, where you can see the Windows desktop behind the Firefox window. On the left side of this band are the window tabs, and the menu bar, and another bar with the names of the open windows. I would like to have the Firefox window expand to fill the entire screen, like it did before the upgrade. Thanks.

Do you mean running Firefox in full screen mode?
If you are in full screen mode then you can hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

You can also run Firefox in a maximized window to have easier access to the Menu bar and Navigation Toolbar.

  • Firefox is taking up the entire screen! I don't know how to fix it? I can't do anything now.

Firefox is taking up the entire screen on my laptop. I can't see the search bar or the windows tabs at the bottom or anything. I think I accidentally pressed something to make it do this, but I can't fix it. Please help!

    Hi K-chan,
It sounds like you've just put Firefox into [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-use-full-screen Fullscreen mode]. It's an easy fix though. You can just hit ''F11'' or move your mouse to upper right hand side of the screen and hit the maximize button. The article I linked you to has more details.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • TS4085 the image does not fill entire screen of iPad, therefore not the entire TV screen.  Why?

When I try to mirror a video from my iPad to TV using Apple TV, the video does not fill entire screen of iPad nor the entire screen of my TV,  Is there a way to strech the image to fit screen(s)?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are two factors in play here. Firstly the iPad screen is 4:3, your TV is 16:9, so when mirroring the mirrored iPad screen is never going to fill the TV screen. If on top of that, whatever you are watching doesn't fill the iPad screen then that too will be reflected in what is seen in the mirrored image.
You cannot stretch this using the Apple TV or iPad controls, but your TV may have a setting you can use. Generally speaking though this will distort the image and you would likely be best leaving it alone.

  • Drop zone content fills entire screen for some reason.  Help!

Hi, everyone. I've used iDVD for years, but have not had this problem before. I'm trying to use the 4:3 template called "Projector". There is only one drop zone, which should show what the projector is playing. However, when I right click the area and "Fill with Content" (I want video playing there), it doesn't just fill the small square where it's supposed to. Instead, it just takes up the entire screen of the project, completely overlapping the template. In other words, I can't even see the Projector template anymore.
Has anyone else had this experience, or even better, have a solution to it?
    Thanks!

Actually, that's a perfectly acceptable way to add content to that drop zone. I've been doing it for years. With a single click on the video box (once "fill with content" is selected), you're even able to adjust where the video starts and ends. If you're just looking to load on general video from your iMovie project, it's a great shortcut to use.
I know the other method of loading content into the drop zone. But that didn't really answer my question as to why the entire screen was filling up with content. I've re-installed the software twice, which fixes it, but I'm just wondering why that problem keeps occurring over time.

  • Nikon pictures don't fill entire screen

I have a nikon D3000 camera which i used pictures from for a home movie.  When i play the movie on my new samsung un55d8000 the pictures from the nikon don't fill the entire screen.  There is a few inches of black on both sides of the picture.  Is this right?  How can i make the pictures fill the entire screen?

Picture size is plenty big enough.
My thoughts are you are shooting the photos in the camera at 3:2 aspect ratio.
Is the camera switchable to shoot at 16:9?
Or you can resize the existing photos in the Timeline to fill the screen.
Double click a photo in the Timeline and it will open in the Viewer.
Place the playhead over the clip in the Timeline. You should have the same clip in the Viewer and Canvas.
Go to the View Pop Up Menu button at the top of the Viewer, click it and select Image + Wireframe.
Click the tab that says Motion and you will see a bunch of controls. These alter Scale, Crop, Centre etc.
Or you can click the video Tab and drag to suit.
This will work OK if strict framing is nor an issue.
Tip: If you set the % (button next to the View Pop Up)  to less than the Viewer size you can see off screen stuff. Normally it would be set to Fit to Window.

  • Timeline Window will not adjust, fills ENTIRE screen, help please?

All of a sudden my timeline window FILLS my screen and I cannot get to the bottom of the timeline to adjust the size. It has tons of extra grey space on top of the video tracks, and tons of extra space below the audio tracks. It makes editing difficult as I cannot move along the timeline or anything. I wish I could attach a screenshot. Basically just imagine the timeline window extending the ENTIRE size of the screen, with no way to make it smaller. Help!

  • Photoshop CS5 - why does dragging cropped paper to layout causes it to expand to fill entire layout?

I'm hoping someone can help me out.
    I create a 12in x 12in layout for a scrappage to work on.
I open up a pattern paper and crop it to 9in x 9 in.
MOVE the cropped paper to my layout.
The cropped paper expands to fill my 12x12 in layout.  It doesn't move over as a 9x9 in crop.  This has worked just fine the last few months, but got messed up yesterday after working on some tutorial.
I must have changed some setting, but have no idea what setting it was.  (maybe some 'expand' feature, but I can't figure it out).
Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you.

Yes, that option is already checked in my Preferences.
If it helps any, my little tutorial I did yesterday, involved doing an Active selection on a rectangle shape, and doing a 'contract' on it.
'With the selection still active ("marching ants"), go to Select > Modify > Contract.'
I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem I'm seeing now, but everything else on the tutorial was not new stuff to me.  Only this was, so my suspician is here.  But then again, I'm not selecting anything just to place a cropped paper on my layout.
Also, I was playing around with trying to move a pattern paper to my layout this morning, and I tried crops of 8x8 in thru 11x11 inches, and after I moved it over, it filled up my 12x12 layout.  However, when I cropped my paper to 7inx7in and moved it to my layout, I finally saw a slight crop.  About 0.1 x 01. inch showed to be cropped; but definately not 5 x 5 in crop.  It's like it's expaning my paper by a certain amount.

  • External display, image not filling entire screen.

I just bought a tv to use as a external monitor for my mac however when i boot into windows 7 the resolution (1080p) is fine but its not filling the screen completely, there is 1 inch of black on the top and bottom and about 1.5 inches of black on the left and right sides. it does not do this when i am booted into osx.
i think this could be because of how hdtv's are made and the resolution isn't exact (usually a little bit greater) so windows isn't "stretching" the image to fill the screen. i think osx does it automatically but windows doesn't. if this is the problem how do i get windows to stretch the image? i tried switching the screen mode on my tv's remote but that didn't work.
thanks for the help everybody and merry christmas!

exactly the same for me. fulla hd tv, no problem tv/mac ->full screen; but with bootcamp/win7 no way, even with the new 9.12 Ati driver...
thnks for help and happy new year

  • Apps not filling entire screen!

    Hey,
I am having a problem with OSX 10.6.8 regarding maximized windows. When I maximize a window (like Safari), it fills up the screen as usual, except that it leaves a strip of a few pixels at the bottom of the screen where I can see my wallpaper through the space. This only happens to maximized windows like Safari or Garageband, not fullscreen programs like games and movies.
I hope that made sense. Thank you in advance!
Here is a screen shot that will (hopefully) explain things better. Note that I have changed the wallpaper to a solid bright green so it is easy to see. (click on the picture to see it at a larger size)

    That's perfectly normal.
In fact in most applications, the green maximise button will cause the window to resize to fit the contents; not to fill the screen. That's the way OS X has always been.
For true full screen apps you need Lion.

  • Firefox is filling the entire screen so that the controls are off the top & bottom of the screen, & I have to log off the computer to get out of Mozilla.

Usually, there are controls at the top & bottom of the screen, & I can log off whatever program I'm in, but now Firefox is filling the whole screen: I can go from one tab to another within Firefox; however, I can't get out of Firefox without logging off the computer.

It is possible that the screen is too high and that the title bar and status bar do not show.
Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.

  • Firefox v5 will not expand to fill my screen in Win 7 and I can't find anyway to expand it... I have IE9 customized to 135% and I have no problem adjusting that. HELP!

When ever I open Firefox V5 (same thing happens in V4) the screen comes up with about 1.5 inches of clear space on both sides of the screen (left & right side).
I cannot find anyway in HELP or any place else in Firefox to make any adjustments to correct this.
In IE9 (you have to have IE on your computer t run WINDOWS as it is part of the OS) and MS allows you a multitude of different options to scale the page.
I really prefer the speed and elegance of Firefox, however, I am getting very tired of fighting the small page when I open it.
Any help would be deeply appreciated...

    Hi,
You're in fullscreen mode, press F11 to go back to normal.

When I first open Firefox, it appears fine, then one second later it expands so that I cannot see any thing but the current message. The only way I seem to be able to even exit is to use the Windows Task Manager to kill the application. The other user on the same machine does not have this problem.
