Firefox is frozen, can't click anything

Firefox will not load, and I am unable to click "restart firefox" or any other buttons on the application. I'm on a mac. Tried deleting/re-installing/restarting computer, but nothing worked. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Kevin

I guess it's progress to get 10 minutes...
When Firefox crashes, it usually records information about what was happening at that moment -- and displays the Mozilla Crash Reporter. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "[[Firefox Crashes]]" (especially the last section) for steps to get those crash report IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.

  • Can't click anything in firefox after closing "printer error" dialogue box.

I'm trying to print an important document off the internet in Firefox. I can't try to restart Firefox without losing access to this document but after closing a "printer error" dialogue box I am unable to click anything in Firefox. I can't use "ctrl+p" to print or any of the other keyboard shortcuts. Right-clicking is also not working.
Running task manager doesn't show any tasks other than the one Firefox window and that shows up as "running" so I don't think it's a case of the dialogue box still being open.
I CAN right-click on Firefox on the status bar to open a new window (which works perfectly fine) or to open a new tab in the malfunctioning window (which is frozen as well).

Goto Firefox Menu - File > Exit
    Try in safe mode
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''

  • I can't click anything when i start Firefox up...

I've had mozilla firefox for quite a while now and i've never had any trouble until now... when i start firefox up i can do NOTHING i cant write click anything or even use short bcommands. Its just like a picture (with some moving things) that i can't do anything on... Does anyone have a solution? (Btw im on explorer right now and it works just fine)

    Hi Xylax,
I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox Frozen- Can't do ANYTHING. Can't Disable Addons etc

Hello, I took your advice, I have uninstalled, ReInstalled, I RESET Firefox through the HELP Menu- and that did not seem to help or do anything. When I start up Firefox- Sometimes I will be able to cllick and open a COUPLE 2-5 web links, then it freezes, and others I can't click any links before it Freezes. It appears to let me move ok on Craigslist, but not many other Pages- if I go to Yahoo it freezes instantly, same w/ G4 etc.
PLEASE HELP- I miss Firefox, and IE is not what I want to use. Can someone there link into my PC and take a look at it with me? I work as a Help Desk Rep so I will be able to follow along with any thing you need me to do. I'll be free almost any day/ime this week, but the sooner the better. You can reach me at: [email protected] or call me at 571-244-6734
Please help- Thank you, Hope to hear back from you soon.

    Hi,
If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels. Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firewalls this].
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls AV/Firewalls Configuration]
You can also try to check by temporarily disabling any security software, [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off turn on the Windows firewall] and browse known safe sites.

  • I can open Firefox, but then can't click on anything, not even the minimize/maximize buttons.

I can get Firefox to open and sometimes even browse properly for a few moments, but then I can't click on anything. Or, more accurately, I will click but then nothing happens. I can't even exit out of Firefox, because when I click on the minimize/maximize buttons or the red x, nothing happens. I then have to exit using ctrl/alt/delete, but the task handler even then claims that Firefox is running properly. I ctrl/alt/delete my way out anyway.
I've done everything I can think of. I've checked for updates, run CCleaner, defragged, run disk cleanup, and checked for malware. This persists in happening, but only in Firefox, not in IE.
I should mention I'm on a Dell laptop.

Oh thank you for posting on how to enter safe browsing! I had tried to disable add-ons, but couldn't make anything click to do so. So frustrating!
Anyway, after putting on the safe browsing, it worked *immediately*, so clearly the add-ons were the issue! I deleted a bunch I don't use anyway, and it's been working fine for hours.
    Thank you!!

  • Macbook boots up, let's me log in, but then I can't click anything or it restarts

This problem just started up 2 days ago, my computer died one night and the next morning when I booted it up, it wasn't working. It will start up fine and bring me to the log in screen, I can log in fine. My desktop loads up and all the files I have on my desktops are all still there, the dock loads up with all my apps (except for itunes , the icon is missing completely and there's just a blank space, when I hover over it it says iTunes). The menu bar usually shows up fine but sometimes its blank and sometimes it doesn't show up at all. Now here's the real problem: whenever I try to open an application, or even open up one of the files on my desktop, the files and dock all disappear for a second and then it all shows back up with an error message : finder quit unexpectedly. Sometimes this message doesn't even show up and everything loads back up, but the blue dot that indicates that an application is running is not next to Finder. so maybe this is a problem with finder? This is kind of an old computer and i use it all the time so I wouldn't be surprised if its finally just dying... The operating system is mountain lion but I'm not sure what number.. I can't look because I can't click on anything without it doing the restarting thing.

Restart the computer and immediately hold down the option key. When the Mac boots there will be two hard drive icons on the screen. Select Recovery and hit return.
The next screen will show this:
    Select Disk Utility and continue.
    In DU do the following:
In the list at the left, select the hard drive. (Be sure to select the name that’s indented to the right in the list, not the disk name at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
    Click Repair Disk.
When that is done, quit DU and restart the computer in the usual way.

  • Dock won't show up...Can't click anything

I have a 2006 Macbook running Snow Leopard. Just last week my computer booted up to the desktop. All my icons loaded up but the background picture did not and the dock didn't load up. I can click on things but I can't open any files. I can go through my HD and look at files, but if I try to open them, and error pops up. Also after I click anything, the computer goes blue and then after a second it goes back to the normal desktop view. I don't know what to do or what the problem is. Computer was running great up until this point. Any idea the problem?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left handlist. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive has physical problems

  • I can't click anything on the settings..

Ok so I am trying to use my Dazzle Video capture device to stream video using a webcast system but the flash player settings wont allow me to click anything. I need to change the camera. I can right click and open settings but all the options are not clickable... I am actually using the tab key and return to navigate but I don't think it works on drop menus. Help please.

Same Problem, using Windows 7, 64bit, New Dell Inspiron N7010.
Trying to use a cam on a web site.
When adobe setting box appears, mouse does not work, space bar and tab work but
can not change setting in drop down box.  There should be a seperate manager that
can be intergrated into windows or run as a seperate program.. This has happend on
almost every machine I have ever owned... we're talking 12 pc's and laptops, if not
more... I am a high end user, with  29 years of windows experience.....
if you can recreate this on your tech pc's then have one of use do a dump of
everything running and try it or maybe you have the wrong people working on the problem.
It should be easier to find answers to problems by using help, and not have to resort to forums.
Possibly you need a good tech writer....

  • Itunes is completely frozen, can't do anything, any solutions?

Hi everyone,my itunes used to work very well but now when I open it,it doesn't appear any message but I can't do anything,I can't touch any category with my mouse,so to sum up the page Itunes is completely frozen, please help me out!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you gone through the troubleshooting steps of this article in the Apple Knowledge Base?

  • HT201263 Ipod frozen can't do anything to it Please help

My Ipod is frozen on a black screen with the white "wheel" spinning in the center.  I can't do anything to it, all it does is cycle through on. see apple screen for a few second, then back to black screen with white while spinning the the center until it shuts itself off and restarts that whole thing again. I can't reset, restore and my computer doesn't recognize the ipod and I get an error message that itunes can''t connect to ipod because the screen is locked.  Is the ipod ruined? is there anything I can do to get it running again?

Try what you have not yet tried of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Among other things, I have no firefox button so can't do anything with settings

With whatever last update was, my Firefox has gone bonkers. Toolbars, File/Edit/Bookmarks line, etc. are missing. There is NO firefox button, so I can't even try solutions offered. When firefox is open, I cannot see any of the things I have open on my computer (e.g. bar at the bottom of screen), clock, etc. The only way I can get to anything is to type part or all of the website address in. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and did not work.

Usually you have either the orange Firefox button (abbreviated menus) or the classic menu bar. You shouldn't be left without either.
To display the classic menu bar, tap the Alt key, then
View menu > Toolbars > ''check'' Menu Bar
In theory, unchecking that again would restore the orange Firefox button.
    Does any of that work?

  • I don't know how to actually download things to my computer, it always takes me to a page on Firefox where I can't do anything.

This happens every time I try to download something. It takes me to a page where I can't do anything. It won't let me open the files, I can't run them from that page. I also can't find the file it just told me I downloaded anywhere in my computer. Please help me. I just want to play Minecraft.

That is stealing. Your friend has no right/licence to give the songs to you. It violates copyright law.

  • My Firefox freezes every so often and when it freezes, it stays frozen for a half hour or so. No matter how many times I quit and restart it, it still freezes as soon as it opens up and I can't click anything except the quit button. Why?

I am on FF and it suddenly freezes. The window says that it is not responding and it doesn't start to respond again. So I quit and open it up again. It loads all the basic images and then freezes again and stops responding. I try over and over again to quit and restart it, but it never responds and I have to swith over to using Internet Explorer when FF does not respond. Why does it do this?

    Thank you so much!
I didn't think the first page would help me because I could still add, delete and edit my bookmarks, then restart the browser and it would've saved the changes. Also, I didn't think the second page would help me because my browser didn't have any of the symptoms listed. The problem I had wasn't with adding, deleting, or editing the bookmarks. I simply couldn't organize my bookmarks in a certain folder because the bookmarks would jump around when I tried to move them. However, I looked down the second link's page and found a section titled "Problems limited to bookmarks". I did what the first sentence told me to and it allowed me to FINALLY organize that folder!
    Thanks again!

  • HELP!!!!!! I can't click anything on my computer?

My computer randomly restarted itself and when it came back on, I could not open anything on my desktop. When I click on something a loading thing comes up for a second then goes away. Also my battery icon on the bottom right corner is completely blank. It's just an empty grey color with 3 dashes through it.... When i click on firefox, it does not open but ads just randomly start to play in the background, its really weird...Can somebody please help me with this? Sorry for the short description but I am on my iPod touch right now.

As above in the response. You could have one of millions of viruses. It need to be assessed by a professional. Software issues are not covered by warranty other then the OS itself.
