Hi,
My name is John, and I'm a member of the Searchqu Support Team. I'm here to help :)
When the software was installed onto your pc it offered two basic installs, typical installation, which lists the add-on features such as searchqu homepage, and custom installation, which allows you to select the add-ons that you wish to install. There's no need to worry if you did the typical install - this isn't a virus, nor malware, and there's no need to Perform a virus scan against it.
In order to change searchqu as your homepage please check:

we are here to assist :)

  • Many of my bookmarks give me BBC web pages instead of what's indicated.

    Almost half of my bookmarks (eg. "hotmail", "Amazon" ) open a BBC news web page instead. I imported them from Internet Explorer, but they work in that browser.

    This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • How do I defeat or whitelist the "Firefox has blocked this site from loading another web page" function?

    Often when I click a link within a web page, a message bar appears at the top of the page saying "Firefox has blocked this site from loading another page" or something similar. This happens frequently on banking or credit card sites. This is particularly annoying because it seems to disturb the operation of the link when I have to click the "Allow" box on the message bar. I would prefer to create a whitelist for this feature so it would not interrupt my banking operations. Failing that, I would like to know how to toggle the feature on and off. Failing that, I would like to know how to defeat the function.

    See:
    *Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
    The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • In FireFox 9, loading secure web pages running on non-standard ports works just fine. In FireFox 10, those same pages do not load and a "The connection was reset" message is displayed.

    How can this be fixed so functionality returns as per FF9 and below?
    This occurs on any secured website running on a non-standard port, with FF10.

    < X-Post from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/917315#answer-315144 >
    I don't think this is restricted to Firefox. I've noted this behaviour with IE9, Firefox 10.0.2, Opera Mobile (on my phone) and Chrome(latest version) with my Linksys E3000 router (I access it from https://<IP>) and my 3ware RAID card management suite, 3DM2 (I access it from https://localhost:888 ).
    Notably, the only thing amiss that I've been able to see in the certificates (I'm no expert) is that the one from Linksys has issue and expiry dates in 1969 and 1970 respectively. However, I don't think this is the cause since 3DM2 has proper looking issue dates and has the identical problem.
    Coincidentally, I noticed this happening after a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 x64 with virtually nothing installed on it (FF, Office 2007), so I don't think it's something wrong with the other software on the machine.

  • When loading ANY web page, it take firefox 3sec to load a blank page. No matter what website I try to load, it just loads a blank page

    When loading ANY web page, it take firefox 3sec to load a blank page. I have tried everything, starting firefox in safe mode and dissabling all add ons, turning 6v on and off, turnig proxy on and off, reinstalling firefox, restarting my computer, and reinstalling drivers. I can use another browser to surf the internet but finding one that is as capable to firefox isn't easy.
    ps. Firefox did start at one point and then just stoped.
    I use Linux Ubuntu 11.04 single boot

    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
    There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Firefox will not load any web pages

    Firefox will not load any web pages. I have tried every suggestion on the support page, deleted the program and reinstalled it 4 times, and ran a malware scan. None of these have solved the problem.

    Hi JessN37,
    We've got a whole [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/web-pages-dont-load troubleshooting section on failure to load pages]. Have you looked through any of that information? There is a ton of useful stuff there.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Hy does loading a web page in Firefox causes my external hard disk to spin up?

    On OSX 10.6 and 10.7, Firefox will not load a web page unless my external hard disk spins up.
    My thought is that Firefox is trying to cache or pre-fetch something, but why is it doing it on my external backup drive?
    No other browser does this. Only Firefox. It's annoying because the backup drive is slow, so I have to wait for it to wake up, spin up, do whatever it needs to do, and THEN Firefox becomes usable again.

    Maybe Firefox is searching for fonts.
    Try to move all User fonts in Font Book to Computer fonts.
    # Launch Font Book (/Applications/Utilities/)
    # Open Font Book > Preferences
    # Deselect: "Automatic Font Activation"
    # Set the "Default Install Location" for fonts to "Computer"
    # Select all User fonts
    # Move the selected User fonts to Computer fonts
    # Remove all duplicate fonts in Computer fonts

  • Firefox 10.0.2 on a Samsung Continuum 2.1 will not load any web pages.

    Just reinstalled and still no luck. Will not load any web pages or complete any searches. Just brings up a blank page and adds a blank tab. Tried on WiFi and 3G, neither will work. Installed the Phony add-on and set the user agent to Android as suggested in the help, but no change. I'm using GO Launcher EX, but reverted to the stock launcher to see if that helped, still no luck.

    Unfortunately the Firefox App is not working properly with 2.1 systems. HEre are the bugs to follow their statusesȘ

    ps. IE works as usual

    Problem solved from prior post. Firefox had become blocked somehow by McAfee firewall. Set to full access. Now works perfectly.

  • Firefox will not load any web page, other programs will. Continuously "connecting"

    Firefox will not load any pages, but Google Chrome will. Firefox will 'load' the home page, but with any other site, the tab will continuously circle and say "connecting". I have tried clearing my cache, starting in safe mode, and restarting my computer. So far, nothing is working.

    Update..when I open firefox from scratch, the main firefox pages on the home page seem to work. But as soon as I try to go anywhere else, IE going to a website in the address bar or even trying to access the defauly bookmark links, it just sits there loading but never brings anything up.

  • 2-3 minutes to load a web page

    I got a macpro with retina display several months ago and it has disasterous web surfing capability. I timed myself and it took me 6 minutes to get through the apple website to post this! I just timed an attempt to resolve www.cnn.com and it took 160 seconds.  This brings back mind-numing memories of AOL and 28,800 baud rates.
    I cannot imagine --anyone-- would put up with this kind of performance but I cannot get this fixed.  On my home Windows PC I can get to this page in under ten seconds. On my corporate work network with a PC;  I can get to it even faster.
    The Macpro performance is terrible on my  corporate network and at home. The performance is terrible with both wired and wireless.  I have reset Safari. I have cleared the cache. I have diabled the cache. I have never added a single extension.  I have ensured there are no bad/duplicate DNS servers. After all of this I  loaded Chrome and it's performance is even worse than Safari!
    I called my company helpdesk and said the performance was terrible and after several hours they just  gave up trying to fix it. I told them it must be a hardare failure and they need to replace the mac pro.  They said this is a common complaint with Macs!  I am ready to junk this thing and go back to a corporate Lenovo piece of junk running windows 7. At least it can resolve web pages in milliseconds instead of literally multiple minutes.
    COnsidering how many dozens of hours I have spent on this maddening issue (surfing the web on my WIndows PC and trying to fix this mac):
    Please don't tell me to fiddle with safari because chrome is worse
    Please don't tell me to fiddle with wireless, because it is no better wired with wireless disabled
    Please don't tell me to fiddle with routers because it is just as bad on corporate and home networks.
    Please don't tell me to update to the latest OS version because I am running 10.8.3
    So last call for anyone who has any suggestions on how to fix this...
    -Robert

    Thomas A Reed:
    After two months of trying, your suggestion to boot into safe mode is a breakthrough!
    While in Safe Mode I can actually load this web page in 5-6 seconds. I spent the last few minutes bouncing all over the web watching web pages draw within seconds.
      This proves that the hardware is ok and there is some application which is killing my ability to load a web page. It effects Safari, Chrome and I even loaded Firefox and all of them are similarly crippled. Therefore, it is not something misconfigured in any browser, or some cache issue. Since I can download files at regular speed, it is unlikely a network driver issue.
    I do not have anti-virus software running on the machine. I don't know of any network filtering applications so I am not sure what those might be, but at least I have something to debug now.
    My thanks to you for your insight here! i sincerely appreciate your help.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 - Won't load certain web pages - Happens in all browers - Won't do windows updates

    This server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1) is used to host thin clients as well as RDP sessions.  One morning the office is fine, they come back from lunch and all of the sudden they can't load certain web pages, such as adobe.com
    and pandora.com to name a couple.  This was roughly 3 days ago.
    1.)  I have tried machines that are not connected to this server (not thin client or RDP), but are on the same network, they can load up any web page fine with no issues.
    2.) On the server I have tried Opera, Chrome, IE and Firefox, all have the same exact problem.
    3.) Tried different DNS servers just to be sure, even though it only effects the server and no one else.
    Based on these facts I know that it is something wrong with the server, but not tied to a specific brower.  In all browsers when you load up a page in question it just sits there with a blank screen trying to load, it never generates any errors.
    The Event Viewer is also clean, no errors.  So with no errors I have had trouble trying to find a starting place for this.  Things I have tried:
    1.) ipconfig /flushdns to try and clear out any DNS issues
    2.) Changing the DNS servers for the server to 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2
    3.) Scanning for Viruses and Malware/Spyware
    4.) Checking proxy settings on the server
    5.) Updating and then removing Adobe Flash (thought it was tied to flash at first).  Problem persists even with no flash player installed.
    6.) Completed a failed update of .net, no effect
    7.) Loading up browsers in debug mode to try and find anything in the site code that I could relate between failed sites.  I found nothing I could identify
    Of all issues to finally be stumped on this seems like an easy one, but I can't even begin to come up with an idea at this point.
    I have tried to lay out all of the facts that I know as plainly as I can.  I am hoping that someone has seen this before as this issue is effecting a number of differnt users and keeping them from doing portions of their job.
    Help is most appreciated, thank you!

    I was able to figure out a solution.
    CAUSE:
    It appears that the Internet isn’t fully up to date and ready to use EDns -- which is enabled on Windows Server 2008 R2 by default. The solution for this is to disable Edns. Note that this isn’t
    a problem for most Windows Server 2008 R2 member servers.  It’s only a problem for DNS *servers* that do recursive lookups.  i.e. likely only your domain controller will be affected if that is where your DNS Server role exists.
    SOLUTION:
    To disable EDns, you can do it from the command prompt, or by editing the registry.
    Create a DWORD called EnableEDNSProbes and set to 0 in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\DNS\Parameters
    Restart the DNS Server service for it to take effect.

    It depends on your settings for how you copy/paste. See your
    PREFERENCES
    for those. I don't get such things because my settings are
    'tight' in that
    they are restrictive to what stying is carried into the page.

    and then change this -
    <div align="center"><a href="index.html"
    class="nav">Home</a>       <span
    class="nav">About
    Us</span>      <a
    href="impact_HE.html" class="nav">Impact of HE

    to this -
    <div class="nav"><a

    But an even better way would be to make the menu an unordered
    list, like
    this -
    <ul>
    <li><a
    href="index.html">Home</a></li>
    <li><a href="about_us.html">About

    href="procedures.html">Procedures</a></li>
    <li><a href="what_can_we_do.html">What Can We
    Do?</a></li>
    </ul>
    And use this CSS -
    .nav {
    text-align:center;
    .nav ul {
    list-style-type:none;
    margin:0;
    padding:0;
    overflow:hidden;
    .nav li {
    float:left;
    width:150px;
    margin-right:5px;
    border-right:1px solid green;
    .nav a {
    font: bold normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    color: #030;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-decoration:none;
    If you want to make the current page look like it doesn't
    have a link, then
    do this -
    <ul>
    <li><a href="index.html"
    id="home">Home</a></li>
    <li><a href="about_us.html" id="about">About
    Us</a></li>

    id="procedure">Procedures</a></li>
    <li><a href="what_can_we_do.html" id="what">What
    Can We Do?</a></li>
