Firefox is my default browser but when I click on a link in mail it no longer will open.
Firefox is my default browser. It always opened links from email in Firefox. Now, suddenly, when I click on a link in email, it no longer opens. If I make Chrome default, it will open in that browser. I've tried switching back a couple of times after reboot, but links no longer open in firefox. I don't know what happened to change it.
This problem just arose for me today. Very frustrating. Tried all of the suggestions here without success. Then a very simple solution came to me:
UNINSTALL CHROME. I haven't used Chrome for a long while anyway since it seems to have chronic problems of one sort or another. Firefox does 95% of what I need, and Internet Explorer can handle the other 5%.
After uninstalling Chrome I clicked a mailto link. It asked me what program to use and did not list Firefox as an option for some reason. In the Tools menu, I chose "Options" and went to the "Applications" tab. Searched for "mailto". There was a single entry - when Chrome was installed it gave me no options to switch. After uninstalling Chrome I was able to change that. It still did not list Firefox, but it did list "Gmail". Selecting that causes my Gmail to open in Firefox.
I have no idea whether Google or Microsoft is responsible for this, but I'm inclined to give the hairy eyeball to Google for this one. It's the sort of stunt they'd pull on Microsoft, then pretend it was just a mistake. Just one guy's opinion, of course.

I have searched online but only find old solutions 2005 through 2010, so many of them do not make sense. As in one said go to computer then to C then to programsx86 then to Mozilla and in that folder you will see two versions of... I did not see that. Another said about the same and go to Firefox safe mode....click disable all add-ons....I do not see any of that. I don't know if any of this helps you help me. I appreciate any help you can give. Is it using yahoo as its search engine, or switching to yahoo's browser. If it is using yahoo as its search engine, you can change that in settings>options>search and at the top it will show you a button that you can click to choose your default search engine.

All of a sudden (I think after the last firefox update) links in other web pages won't open firefox to access the page when firefox is my default browser but works when I change my default browser to Internet Explorer and I can't figure out why. Help!!!

Firefox is set as the default browser, but if I click a link in MS Word, the link is opened with MS Internet explorer. Why?
What version of Windows and Office is it? I had this issue with an older version of office and Windows XP. Basically, MS are using their browser (IE) because it's their software (MS Office). If you go to options in MS word though, you should be able to find an option to set the default browser to open links.

I use Firefox as my default browser but, on any site, keep getting some words underlined in green from which an ad pops up. Really peeing me off! Doesn't happen on IE or Chrome. How can I stop this?
From what you have described, I don't think you are ever going to pick that up as malware at all. But I did look at the site you mentioned in Google Chrome, and in IE9. First thought was maybe Chrome suppresses it, but that would be contrary to trying to convince you that their AdSense or IntelliTXT is "helping" you.
What I did find in Chrome was
"Google Chrome's connection attempt to ad-apac.doubleclick.net was rejected. The website may be down, or your network may not be properly configured."
Since I don't have ad blockers in Chrome or IE, that tells me that my hosts file is doing its job, you can draw you own conclusions. There is something similar displayed in IE, but I can't read what was there because the font-size was too big. for the space. In Firefox with "Adblock Plus" extension it is all wiped out. The hosts file works across the entire system but is directed at blocking malware sites more than advertising. "Adblock Plus" is very good at blocking ads and can do its blocking with more generic filters, and can block a lot of malware from coming in but it can't block at the system level that a hosts file can.
In IE although I can only see "It appea" because the font is too large and text does not wrap it does actually say "It appears you are connected to the Internet, but you might want to try to reconnect to the Internet."
I would certainly suggest installing "Adblock Plus" extension and the "Easylist (USA)" filter subscription -- links are in the links previously provided, and installing the hosts file as well also in the links.
It takes a bit more work to install and maintain a hosts file but the directions should be clear enough. -
I deleted firefox because of malware;I want to reload it but windows or explorer blocks it. I tried the forum but when I click on a link I get spammed. Can you help?

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. From your post it appears that you are getting a pop-up message that you need to upgrade your internet browser. Likely this is an advertisement, as any updates to Safari are done through the software update in the App Store. I'd like you to please check your preferences to ensure pop-ups are being blocked, and to also clear out the Safari data on your Mac.

I bought about 350 musics on iTunes since I started using iPhone, but when I click on the link to see the items I have bought, iTunes shows me only 204 musics. This is a problem that annoys me because I have authorized a new device where I'd like to listen to all musics I have bought. I have already turned on the automatic transferences on the iTunes preferences so that all musics, books and apps are automatically transferred to the device. Even so, iTunes continues to show only 204 musics and I am not able to see all musics I have bought.
So, is there anything I'm missing here? Is there other local on iTunes where I could see all musics I have bought instead of only a subset of them?

MárcioJust to better clarify what is happening: when I click on the link to show the musics I have bought on iTunes, musics that I had already bought some time ago do not appear anymore. So, I'm not able to download them anymore. For instance, in the set of the musics iTunes does not show me anymore there are 17 Peter Gabriel's musics. They are not shown and I cannot download them. So, how could I be able to download all musics I have bought instead of only 204 musics?

I am trying to sync a playlist to my Nano, but when I click on the Music tab at the top,
it will not allow me to select the option Selected Playlist, Artists, etc. I cannot un-check the Entire Music library
option and check the Selected Artist … one.
I have changed the Sync option to Manually sync, but that does not help.
How can I change this to the second option?
Thanks.There is a checkbox above those two options for how to sync. It says Sync Music; it enables automatic syncing. That box needs to be checked before you can select from the two options for how automatic syncing is performed.
NOTE: If the iPod is current set up to Manually manage music [and videos], checking that Sync Music box replaces its current content with content from your iTunes library, based on how automatic syncing is set up on that screen.
So, if your goal is to add ONE playlist to an iPod that is managed manually, you do not want to do this because iTunes will erase the iPod's current content and replace it with just that ONE selected playlist (and whatever else you select on that Music settings screen).
Instead, if the iPod currently uses the manual setting, you need to add playlists manually to the iPod (not use the automatic syncing setting). Please post back with more details about your situation. -
I am trying to download a font I've purchased previously (in 2006), but when I click the Download link in My Orders, I get a message that I have no downloads. How do I download a font I've already paid for?
Ericsvaren please make sure the date range selected is sufficient to include the order for your font. I would also encourage you to make a local back up in case you need the font again in the future. We are using apple tv to try to access our itunes account on the computer. We see our library of music but when we click on the song it searches for a long time and then says that it cannot access the itunes store. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong?

When I click on a link in Mail, Safari crashes on my MacBook.
I'm running OS X 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.2, on a Mac Book 1. I've tried checking for software updates, ran disk permission repair, and cleared my cache. It doesn't happen every single time I go from Mail to a website, but about 90% of the time today, Safari has crashed when I clicked on a link in Mail. I get the same error message every time, which I'll post at the end of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't really know what the problem is, and I don't have any other ideas.

UNINSTALL CHROME. I haven't used Chrome for a long while anyway since it seems to have chronic problems of one sort or another. Firefox does 95% of what I need, and Internet Explorer can handle the other 5%.
After uninstalling Chrome I clicked a mailto link. It asked me what program to use and did not list Firefox as an option for some reason. In the Tools menu, I chose "Options" and went to the "Applications" tab. Searched for "mailto". There was a single entry - when Chrome was installed it gave me no options to switch. After uninstalling Chrome I was able to change that. It still did not list Firefox, but it did list "Gmail". Selecting that causes my Gmail to open in Firefox.
I have no idea whether Google or Microsoft is responsible for this, but I'm inclined to give the hairy eyeball to Google for this one. It's the sort of stunt they'd pull on Microsoft, then pretend it was just a mistake. Just one guy's opinion, of course. -
Filling up a pdf form which I received as email. I opened it on my adobe reader 11 and filled up the highlighted fields. Yet when I click on the send via mail it says changes will not be included. How do I send the form with changes?
The add annotations field shows as not allowed in the security options. So how do I send this form back with the changes??I think you you need to click 'save' first, then it is saved to acrobat, where it will prompt to send.
